- Part 22 of a video walkthrough for Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge. In this part, Nancy talks to Yumi about the hidden message Yumi sent. It looks like Yumi wanted Nancy to have half of a large nonograms puzzle. Also, a haunting takes place at Yumi's apartment...

I was freaking out, because I was going to sit through more puzzles. When I saw only one number left, I couldn't help but laugh. xD
I like how Yumi really does care about her family, she just doesn't want to be forced into a lifestyle she doesn't enjoy (and honestly, who can blame her?). Plus I like how smart she is, like giving Nancy a test instead of directly giving her info to make sure that she is capable of helping. I hope Nancy and Yumi became internet buddies after this mystery (not phone buddies, because the time zone difference would make that difficult).

It is dissapointing that Yumi and Rentaro don't like each other, They're both my favorites. Miwako's nice but you don't really learn enough about her character. Granted given how Nancy's always asking her not-tactful questions that's understandable. I'd be mad too if someone I just met kept bringing up my mother's death.

I never finished all of the puzzles (I only did the first ones for each) so it was fun to see what he says if you finish them all. It's also fun to see Nancy magically pop over to her room in the ryokan, but I guess she wouldn't return to Yumi's apartment after her class. I'm guessing we're going to talk to Yumi and call Bess, George, and Savannah in the next video?
Did you do all of the homework? I think there are 5 sets you can do..

I'm beginning to have a sneaky suspicion Yumi had something to do with her mother's death.
i think the creepy messege for Yumi at the window in her appartment was the only thing that wasnt explained in the game. all the other ghostly happenings could be explained (the slamming doors, the mirror, the foot prints, the shadows) but this wasnt explained- neither how it happened or why.

After finishing the game, I'm a bit confused. What exactly was Yumi's secret? Was it that she had information about her mothers will, and if so why would Rentaro care if she finds the will? What was the whole deal with the DVD? Can someone help me out here?
PS: Also did anyone notice that if you click on the a certain spot in the pond, you will zoom in on the water, and if you look closely you can see Yumi's mother in the water, and the image will slowly fade away.
When Rentaro tells his story about seeing the ghost of Kasumi near the deer scarer, I remembered the deer scarer was behind Nancy. It made me think that if I made Nancy look over her shoulder, I'd see the ghost at that moment. But neh.
HEY. If you notice, befind the frog bank thingy is a picture of an asian lady that is in blackmoor manor! Cool beans!

@Skwiggy She wasn't talking about when you see the message. She was talking about when you here the alarm, you're in Nancy's room in the ryokan
Figuring out the hidden message in Japanese is a piece of cake when that's the language you took in high school. =P

i think it's because they couldn't get a ticket for her for the Techno Conference thing, so Nancy decided she might as well stay at the ryokan thingy

Somehow Yumi and Rentaro seem more like a couple then Miyako and him. I'll be shocked if the game goes there though... Can't wait to find out!
I sort of love both Yumi and Rentaro so I hope neither is the one responsible (even though they're both the ones with the ability and know-how to pull it off, especially Rentaro).
that's interesting...maybe kasumi is still alive. she was right next to the deerscarer, most probably meaning she hid that note in there.
@OryhaSeca I'm pretty sure he meant that the last two numbers were the third and fourth numbers, not that that's what the numbers actually meant.
All the puzzles are! Then were done in one second!
Even though I think Rentaro did it, I can't help but like him!

@Lorelei98 In truth, I've had suspicions about Yumi being responsible somehow was involved with her mothers death, being she was the first to 'find' the body. We'll just have to wait and see, Michael should be done in about... two more videos, maybe three.

@MsStarWarsFreak I guess she woke up in the morning, went to teach school, and then went back to the ryokan.
@LivaAndCo yumi gives you some, and you can also buy a phone charm from the pachinko parlor.
I am so stuck on the bentos, thats it's driving me crazy........can anyone help please..........lost ......i am in part 22 where nancy goes back to let yummi know thats she has discovered the code.....these bentos are crazy, and when you go back in it's a new puzzle......go figure that i would get stuck.....

Yumi said she lets Rentaro stay on her apartment a lot, which I find really weird. They treat each other like siblings anyway. But it would be interesting if there was a love triangle :3
