This would probably have impressed me more if I had played it before I got OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, which had full Ferrari licensing and which pushed the PS2 to its visual limits, but I got 2006 two and a half months before I got the Sega Classics Collection, which I would have been disappointed by had I paid full price for it since you couldn't play the original arcade versions of most of the games but it was a bargain bin title by then so it was worth the price for probably the best home version of [i[Virtua Racing[/i] before the Switch version alone. I still somewhat like this version of [i]OutRun[/i] on its own merits. Making the superscaler trackside obstacle sprites into simple 3D objects is an interesting visual effect, even if I think it's ultimately less visually appealing than just using sprites like the original game. The main thing that bothers me about this version, besides the lack of Ferraris due to Ferrari licensing being expensive (worth it for OutRun 2006 but that was a AAA game, this one is almost like a Sega-authorized indie title), is just that the car is too zoomed in and the angle is too low so it visually obstructs more of the track than does the Testarossa in the original game.
@Pete Testube I think so yes. The best version in my opinion is the Sega Ages Outrun on Nintendo Switch. It's arcade perfect and has loads of enhancements and also has the option to change the difficulty settings
My criteria for outrun is wide roads and super fast with decent engine noise. Boxes ticked here. PS2 Outrun was great until I realised how narrow and squished the roads are. I might get and xbox360 just to run original xbox outrun on it.
I might create that Outrun Trophy Girl in WWE 2K22 or 2K23 if someone else does this a great job even if she stands 6 feet tall as if Brooke Shields and Geena Davis already do.
Hey man, I'm having ridiculous difficulty setting this up. For some reason, on OpenGL rendering it becomes ridiculously slow. Do you happen to have the specs you used? (Build, Plugin Version, Configs)?

they should have remade turbo outrun instead as there is already lots of outrun versions and remakes

It was a different vehicle in ports, but was it an actual Testarossa in 1986 arcade version?

Id say the saturn version is the way to go but this port is worth it just for the extra stages in arrange mode

PCSX2 v1.5.0 everything set on default mate.. n i'm using 8x native internal resolution.

For me the problem was the settings need to be set to use OpenGL instead of DX11

It is honestly not. I prefer coast 2 coast and this one over original.
