I checked with 2 people in my clan who have this at rank 3. both of them confirmed that BH is not triggered even with the attack speed buff we get at rank 3. Overall the damage seems nice. and the range is pretty big. at 08:20 to 08:22 it bounced off pretty far.
I think this new gem is created with the new SW setup in mind, since this gem can hit up to 8 enemies so in a small narrow map like alley of blood map which is the same as the map for new SW this can kill enemies that are healing behind. In bg this can be good too but the bg map is huge and got 2 lanes most of the time enemies will be separated by a huge distance. So IMO this gem is good for 8v8 SW.
Would it be better when doing a eternal legendary crest run to do the current option for a 50% chance of the new gem or just do the basic one? I’m a f2p & only spend on battle pass.
If you can sell howlers on market sell it. If not I'd use it for upgrade fodder. I've never considered howlers a good gem. It activates when it shouldn't. It goes random directions more often than not and when it does hit its not Wow. This gem atleast allows you to AoE for 6ish seconds and do more damage overall id say
I might of just had bad luck. Pulled a good amount of 5 star gems just not the new one. Only had like 5 vipers as well after all that. Let me know if you have better luck.

Nice... You know what I think would be a fantastic feature for the legendary gems..... If you could convert a gem with a higher ranking to another gem of the same * quality. So for example... if you had a Rank 8 Echoing Shade that was 4*. And a new gem comes out like Void Spark. And you'd like to swap the two. Instead of purchasing a million copies of Void Spark and devouring the 4* Echoing Shade Rank 8, which wastes no gem power... if you wanted to, you could just obtain a 4* Void Spark and convert the Echoing Shade into a Rank 8 Void Spark. Which would remain 4*. The catch being that even though it saved you time... you would lose the value of that gem in the conversion, rather than upgrading it piece by piece. Where none of your gem power would be wasted. If Bliz wanted to be greedy, they'd say you could not convert that Rank 8, 4/5* Echoing Shade with a 5/5* Void Spark. And that if you wanted to convert it to a 5/5* Void Spark, you'd have to do two conversions. First with the 4/5* Void Spark. And then afterwards convert that again with a 5/5* Void Spark. Which you'd obviously be better off just upgrading it to rank 9 WITH a 5/5* Void, so the gem power wasn't burned. But I think it would be much cooler if you could just convert the 4/5* Echoing rank 8 into a 5/5* Void rank 8, in one step with a single 5/5* V Spark. Hypothetically you would be able to do that with any gem of the same value in this feature. Convert your Rank 10 Power and Command into a Rank 10 Mother's Lament with a single ML gem. But again, if Bliz wanted to be greedy, they'd only allow the feature to apply with 5" gems. Although I think it would get a lot of people excited about playing around with different gem combinations. And would actually remove gem power from the economy like a tax. Which would help make up for the loss in sales for 2/5* gems. Which would completely be worth it IMO to make the game much smoother for the average player, who only has a few 5* gems to work with. And the bottom line result would be more people playing the game. Which would increase gem sales overall. And think of all the happy whales who don't mind burning 5/5* gems when they swap classes for a new build or a new gem. Especially when most or all of their gems are already rank 10 5/5*. What do you think? Now that I thought about it for a second... it's even better than I first thought. Because it would also BALANCE the value of EVERY 5* gem. Players would naturally look for the cheapest 5* gem to rank up and then convert it to the one they really want. So very quickly, there would be no "cheapest 5*". There would only be "cheaper gems" and "pricier gems". Cheaper being the ones people don't use much anymore but great for ranking up to convert with the "pricier gems" later. Which would slightly bring down the value of the 2/5*, 4/5* and 5/5* pricier gems. That's dope!
in their last interview they announced that they were thinking about a system of this kind. They did not give details but it is very likely that it will be necessary to sacrifice a gem of equivalent quality

It takes time, platinum or money to obtain copies of the gem to upgrade. But you don't lose anything. So technically it's not a cost. It's an investment. Because you can always recycle that gem power. In this hypothetical, you're BURNING a very valuable gem to transfer the ranked up gem. You aren't adding any value. So it's not an investment. It "costs" you a 4/5* bsj. Again, obviously this would be a significant change to the gem economy. But after thinking about it, I really believe it would result in a smoother economy and a better game. Those cheap 5* gems would go up in value quickly. Those extremely rare and expensive gems would become a bit more attainable. Which is win/win for the players. But mostly, it would make for a better game. With less buyer's remorse. More gem experimentation. And much less people feeling ripped off after a month or two. That's really my thing... I want the game to be super solid for a long, long time. And I think this would be great for that. Bliz might lose some sales in the short term. But in the long run, I think they'd make FAR more. Not because the average player is spending more. But because there's many, many more players in the game.

Got this today, even at level 1 it kicks butt in PVE. Have yet to try it in PVP.
