    Total football is when players are confident with ball and can play anywhere, in any position on the pitch. You saw it in the recent England womens game Rachel Daly could play defender, midfielder and striker etc most of the positions were interchangeable. Millie Bright although a defender sometimes played striker. Cruyff himself played anywhere on the pitch, even sweeper.

    Amazing interview! How amazing is it that she met Johan Cruyff! Barcelona Femeni is the best example of total football.

    I think she can coach a men's team and be equally successful as well

    This proves English players are good when you give them a best in class coach who has the tactics and philosophy that suit the profile of the players England are actually producing. We see these men players in the much harder champions league and play good football under Klopp, Tuchel, Ten Hag, Arteta, Vieira and Guardiola, so they can clearly play football at a high level. The problem is the FA who are clearly clueless about modern football, are dinosaurs and keep hiring pragmatic cautious defensive and bad coaches who don't suit the type of English players, like Boothroyd, Phil Neville, Carr and Southgate , so England end up playing well below their potential. I don't think England has had a top coach in the last 50 years and that is why the men's team have won nothing, because without a top coach, it doesn't matter how good your players are. I wouldn't mind if they sacked Southgate and trialled Weigman at the Qatar World Cup. At least she has the elite level coaching and tactics that these England players see in their Premier League clubs. Southgate wouldn't get a job in the Championship, let alone the Premier League. And when you see who coaches Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Brazil, Argentina, Netherlands and Portugal, it is a joke that England have a coach with zero pedigree and relegation as his biggest management achievement and the FA gave him a contract extension. Southgate is the luckiest and worst England coach in the last 50 years, because he has inherited the deepest England team in the last 150 years, meaning they can beat 80% of teams just with their quality depth. But Southgate keeps failing the team tactically in the big games, showing his tactical ineptness and the incompetent FA gave him a contract extension after seeing him flop tactically as coach SMH. Give men's team to Sarina, so we can actually see a men's team that actually play modern attacking football.

      Shows England are good when there's a lack of genuine competition like when playing minnows in euro/World cup qualifiers. Play nations league against European elite or knockout rounds at tournaments and our true level shows. This has nothing to do with world class coaching but an inflated self belief in ability... England are the spurs of the Premier league. Good enough to be comfortably in it, but not good enough to win it...

      @@hashtag_thisguy You are one of these England hater fans who revels in England losing so you can trot out the same lazy cliches that English players are rubbish and overhyped and offer no actual analysis of the truth. The Champions League is a far higher quality level of football than International football and English players manage to perform well there showing their high quality and the difference is the level of world class coaching they get at their clubs. England's problems is the English FA is are dinosaurs and know nothing about modern football and do no due diligence on who they hire as England manager and keep hiring pragmatic bad cautious coaches that don't suit the talent English clubs are producing. So England for 60 years have played below the quality of their team. If this England team was to get a real top coach of today like a Tuchel, Poch or Bielsa who had a modern tactical mind, this England team would 40% better because they have quality talent and depth. There is a reason why so English young players are in top quality foreign teams and other nation teams are stealing English developed players. But we are giving this talent to a coach with no pedigree, who failed in the Premier League 10 years ago. Who has kept his job because he is good with the media. England should be football team not a PR company.

    I am afraid we lost a bit of the philosophy called the total concept. These days there s even a lack of creativity in Dutch football. Rooting for the England women team this year at the WC. No expectations from the Dutch team, although I am Dutch.

    Would she be willing to take charge of the Men’s national team? She follows the Cruyff philosophy when it comes to football which I’d much rather watch as opposed to the dross that Sourgate serves up.

      Would never happen. Didn’t even know what a false 9 was last year. Easy to look good in the womens game with the disparitys between teams

      @Allegro_Giusto 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Nathan You completely missed the point and everyone who liked your comment 🤷 So nothing to suck up. Why are you bringing men into it? It’s besides the actual point. Stop pitting one against the other, it also further proves my point and adds a string to my bow. Any man who manage’s the England women’s team…there’s a reason for that, and is where my point stands. The bar is low due to credible applicants, and a lower standard of need for tactical nouse due to the womens game not being anywhere near it’s peak level YET. And that is completely understandable. I don’t hate the women’s game AT ALL. It would be brilliant if it continues to grow. But the sentiment of saying she is going for the men’s team is pie in the sky talk, I’m a realist and don’t run on the feel good factor emotion, stirring ip rubbish. I didn’t think I need to break down the basic nuance’s without going into even more obvious detail of why this is an absurd comment from the OP any further. There’s plenty more in line ahead when Southgate hopefully leaves his position. That’ll be you needing to suck reality up. Nice try though

    • @Allegro_Giusto
      @Allegro_Giusto 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Nathan You are implying I am saying she is not good enough ‘because she’s a woman’ and no other manager (male) has accomplished what she has - totally misses the point of my reply in question to the OP. Your comment has no correlation, as there multiple factors as why one manager is successful and another isn’t - current team quality/experience/opposition factors and on an on. Again, there is no way she would be anywhere near considered for the men’s role, it’s pie in the sky talk. That is all. Nothing to so with what she has achieved in the women’s game. Southgate has taken a sub par performing England team to a semi final and a final, which, with all factors considered, has been an achievement. Yet he didn’t still get the best out of them, due to shortages of tactical nouse. But if we went by ‘achievement’, then he should be considered for top club jobs by default if we go by your comment in logical comparison. Well, no, not at all, no top club and their fans would want him, because the difference is clear. Though I guess OP has said it tongue in cheek and give them the benefit of the doubt, because no one of knowledge and experience would take her as a credible applicant seriously. Like I said, not even knowing what a false 9 is, (paraphrasing her), is testament to her limited knowledge and experience in comparison with managers who would be in contention. I mean it’s pretty basic needed knowledge to set up your defensive shape tactically in dealing with it. If a manager isn’t equipped with knowledge to deal with that then that speaks volumes in itself. But, and this isn’t a slate against the woman’s game, they aren’t there tactically or technically yet, to see that implemented, where in the men’s game there are many more variation’s used.
