- Thanks to @tokskallez for letting me know that @dirtyloops had posted new song!
Dave was very impressed with this one and then goes off the rails a bit toward the end.

"Too technical to be a pop song and too poppy to be a technical song" That line is too accurate! I love it😂🙌🏼
"Henrik Van Halen." NAILED IT!
Been waiting for Dave's reaction! I love how they're leaning into the 80's rock to the point of parody yet still absolutely shredding everything and having a blast, like they always do!
And what Dave says in the beginning - if noone has revealed it yet - "Skål" means "Cheers" in Swedish
To quote one of your older most excellent reactions of Dirty Loops: "They are too intelligent for the masses."
Hi Irene!
Hey@@samechick!
A parody, or homage, to 80s Stadium Rock anthems. *_Lots_* of visual clues: blinding lights, giant transparent drum kit, banked & split "Rock God" keyboards, twin neck "Guitar God" bass (a prop). Boy band looks and moves, alien limbs, stadium drummer 'muscle' T & sweatband. Dirty Loops do not take themselves too seriously 😱
Best Wishes. ☮
That conversation at the end was gold ☺️
And yeah, ‘it’s Dirty Loops, people will know’. Absolutely.
Still, it’s a thoroughly, ummm, disorienting work of art there….
Confusion seems to be one of the common denominators here, as to Henrik Van Haden’s four arms, his extra bendy legs (when he does the splits at the end of his second solo 🤣), the extra Two’s of everything including two bass solos, the 80s vibe going on, headbands, pink tights, glitter pants, Jonah even chewing gum somewhere… it’s not easy finding a box big enough to put them in ;)
I agree very much with Dave’s assessment of the crossing of boundaries and genres…
This track is larger than life! It’s so epic that one can’t imagine three guys producing all of it. Plus Simon Petrén mixing and mastering, a string orchestra and some extras, such as beatboxing by a 75-year old wife of a controversial ex-politician 🤣 these guys are such trolls ;)
Super reaction, thanks for posting it 🙏🤣☺️👍
Even a cigarette on the head of the fake neck on his bass. 🤣
@@MoreThanDanny yeah sooo funny 🤣
Henrik Van Halen indeed!
Love your perspective, Dave!
Love and respect your take on Dirty Loops, which i greatly appreciate myself - thank´s again for a great reaction
- Mind blown, just like mine, as i watched this for the first time
“Henrik Van Halen” sums it up nicely, Dave.
Among the many reaction videos and comments, I thought that the essential parts of Dirty Loops were especially talked about here. I read many of the comments with deep nods over and over again.
In addition to that analysis, I feel that they place great importance on entertaining everyone through their music, and above all, having fun performing themselves (music, fun costumes, gimmicks, etc.)
In this regard, they haven't changed since they started posting on TH-cam.
Well spotted. Its was written as a parody of 80 rock, but still and awesome original song.
They are INSANE genre-benders! And the song really grows on you after a while..
Loved your reaction as always!❤️
Did you say skål(cheers) in Swedish in the beginning? 😂
It's something that Stuttering John Melendez seems to say whenever he opens a beer, which is quite often (if you've ever seen his podcast). Dave is amused by it. So maybe?
Fyi. The first word you said was absolutely perfect southern Swedish pronunciation of the word "School". Kinda fitting!
Drummer Aron doing all the videos...
Very Van Halen!!
+1o on the Jump cover!
Wow, they really upped the production value! Poppy and eighties-ish sounding. The frenetic, squeaky guitar solos were different and surprised me but really enjoyable stuff for sure. Impressive drumming too! Here's a different one for Dave to check that sort of falls into the yacht rock genre (I know he hates that term) anyhoot. This was a minor hit for this dude but deserves more love I think. It's the tune, Pilot by The Ian Thomas Band th-cam.com/video/hYK4MzAo4LY/w-d-xo.html
It’s a traditional Swedish folk song. Now you know! Or, wait, my mistake.
These guys always lose me a bit with the vocals - it always makes them sound really “poppy”. However, I love the instrumental stuff and could listen to that stuff all day - they are so good on their instruments. Thanks guys.
I actually think this is their strenght. They can be pleasantly pop, transporting and entertaining while beingn musically monsters at the same time. They are so across-the-bord despite their maestry that can be listened and appreciated both by the general public and by the nerds of musicianship. That's also their originality in the composition.
Listen to Jonah’s vocals on their track “Dirty” (Christina Aguilera cover), or his solo cover of “Bad”…
I didn’t feel it at all. Production of the music was off. Something has changed. (Insert ”I liked their earlier stuff” cliche here)
I think you should wait until more songs are released to pass judgement. I think the sound here was part of the whole 80s hair metal joke.
