Best reviews on youtube. I really appreciate all your info... I am getting Enduro 2 based on your videos. For all my personal activities + SAR use. Cheers
Thank you!! This is the best review video I’ve seen yet! As much as I love all the bells and whistles I really just wanted to know how the enduro 2 would perform with navigation and battery life. This was perfect!
Very good video ! i have a garmin enduro 2 after a 6X pro solar , the GPS is super accurate , enough battery for a ultra trail, climb pro the must and the map is good !
Hi Des....my whatch is Suunto 9 baro Titanium. It is a light weight tank. I know is not part of this comparission, but eventually I will upgrade it and that is the reason I am watching your videos. From what I see, most of the brands excel in some parts and lacks in others. Guess is now a matter of needs vs choices. From me personally, my choice will be a watch that needs less recharging as this is the factor that eventually will force you to upgrade as your battery life will eventually die. Would love to see a replaceable battery watch. Might be the next big thing. Cheers from Mexico.
I have a Vertix 2 and simply love the simplicity of it. I use it with All systems mode, without Dual Frequency because I didn’t see any noticeable difference between the two modes regarding accuracy. Anyway, great video and thank you.
Thanks, great video, Des! 2 thoughts on which I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong. I recall from one of the earlier videos, that a huge difference between Corox and Garmin navigation is, that the former is basically a clever middle ground inbetween breadcrumb navigation and what the top Garmin watches do: there is a positioned picture in the background, but the watch has no idea, if you are on a road or in the middle of the ocean. I'm sure that there are clever cache-es on Garmins side too, but this could easily cause battery consumption difference. For the annoying turn notifications: I believe that those are in the course that you sync to the device, and it is up to the planning tool whether it inserts them or not. (Unfortunately I have yet to see an editor where you can easily select which ones you want to delete or add, these are done automatically.) The only thing the watch can do at this point is to show or ignore them. (Which I can set on my Instinct, so I assume it is the same on the Enduro.)
I am a very satisfied owner of the Vertix 2. I just got back from hiking part of the GR11 and had absolutely zero problems navigating using the map. Very rarely are mountain peaks or trail names necessary on such a small screen. The battery life is phenomenal---it was depleting about 10% a day with all systems on. For me a lot of the Garmin hardware and software "extras" are not worth $400. Most are redundant because a phone or other tools already do them better. Thanks for the video. In Manhattan I did not get great tracking on my Vertix 2 in dual mode. I dont expect great coverage from any current watch on the market nor do I really need it.
Hey JB, It does have a ski, snowboard, country ski and snowboard function. I did not see golf on the dial. It has been a great watch for me so far without any technical glitches or issues.
Got my Enduro 2 for a 3 day hiking. 100% after 19h of GPS I now have 52%, very dissapointing. Heart rate was also very wrong, steps too and Garmin says everything is normal 🤔 Thank you for your video!
What I've found that seriously reduced battery drain on the map page is a simple setting change. North up not Track up. Map redraw is then mostly just the arrow
Great job! Would like to see a comparison between Garmin Instinct series and the newish Amazfit Trek 2. Some points of interest: navigating on GPX routes and general performance with the sensors.
@@DesFit No problem, your reviews are great and the topics and metrics are spot on. Your information provided has made me comfortable with going forward with the Enduro 2 based on software interface, watch band, mapping, flashlight. I would go with the 7X but to me the small price difference is worth the nylon watch band in addition to silicone, better flashlight, and the extra battery is a bonus.
Being a lifelong Garmin user, I prefer Garmin's UI & button controls, their app ecosystem, and Garmin's GPS accuracy. I'm a happy FR 745 user and don't need an ultra capable watch. But if you are in the market for an Ultra/IM watch, you'd be nutz to overlook Coros' value-to-performance cost ratio. The Enduro 2's $400 premium for solar, music storage/streaming, and Garmin Pay/app eco-system is WAY over the line, even factoring in the premium a market leader like Garmin or Apple usually charge.
I have a Vertix 2 and a Fenix 7x and am getting basically the same results as you. But I'm not so sure if Garmin has the better GPS. The distance is always shorter with Coros. However, on officially measured routes, the Vertix is always very close to the official route length.
@@snowzZzZz on the wrist is of course an individual matter. Both watches work well for me, but I think the Garmin is better here. I personally prefer to use a chest strap.
I got an Enduro 2 about a month ago as an upgrade to my Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar. I really love the Enduro 2, especially since the new beta software added HRV capability without an external sensor. The GPS is super accurate for MTB! Yesterday we did two 11 mile laps, and you can see the exact location, down to which side of the singletrack trail I was on. You can literally see the difference of 2 feet in the tracking. Also the flashlight is brighter, and the battery seems last a little longer.
@@stevephla I was also concerned about the taller height measurement, but I don't even notice it at all. In fact with the velcro band it feels lighter and more comfortable. I am really enjoying this Enduro 2 watch!!
I'll tell you the only reason the Vertix 2 gets so much battery life is because the screen is sooooooo dim. The map on Vertix 2 is useless too. Great work as always DesFit. I'm not a Garmin fanatic but Garmin is just a way better watch.
Interesting that so many people complain about the dim screen. I am in my 50s and have terrible eyes. I have never had any problems seeing the screen on my Vertix 2 regardless of the conditions.
HI I'M DOING ULTRA LONG DISTANCES cycling with 400 + km/24 hrs to possibly 1200 km like the PBP a multi-day event or 90 hrs of GPS, then gravel with shorter distance but off roads, plus I practice other sport like skiing, snowshoes and hiking but these last ones are not as demanding for time and distances. Which of these watches including the Garmin Enduro 3 will serve me best?
Des, which watch is better for swimming / mounting biking? I have the instinct1 and am looking to upgrade. Torn between enduro2/vertix2/epix2 , as they are all lovely watches ...
i'd go Enduro 2 to be honest if you have the wallet for that. If you are trying to choose from Enduro and vertix i take you want big battery life, so i would exclude the epix2. Garmin has more metrics for the activities you listed. If money is short, Vertix 2, or Fenix 6X Pro are great choices.
The Enduro 2 has the capability of pairing with a swim capable HR sensor which can store HR data while in the water which it downloads when you save the activity, so the Enduro 2 may be the best choice for swimming. Mountain biking either one should do a good job but may have better accuracy with the Enduro 2.
Great video, as usual by the way... I just have one question about the preloaded map in the Enduro 2. If I buy a watch from a country outside the continent I live, is it feasible to dowload the topo maps of the region I live in? Again, thanks for your awesome video..
Yup! You can download maps for other regions. You can’t fit every single map region on the device at one time but nearly all of them. For instance, easily North America and EU which are larger regions. Thanks!
The turn alerts on Garmin watches can be so annoying when hiking like 20+ swichbacks trail up and back down! I really hope Garmin will do an update to the whole range with ability to disable them or at least to mute them.
You can disable them. On my Fenix 6X I long press the UP key to get to the settings. Navigate down to "Navigation" then "Alerts". The last option allows you to disable "Turn Prompts". AFAIK that's possible on all recent Garmin watches that have navigation.
I just disagree on the “depends what you’re looking for” when answering which one is better. The enduro2 is the better watch, period. More expensive, and that’s what we need to consider of course. But if the question is which one is better I don’t see how to argue in favor of the vertix2.
Owned several Garmins and all have longevity issues. The watches are great at first then software gremlins start popping up. Garmin’s customer service is a joke. They don’t care after the watch passes warranty period.Battery issues abound with all Garmin watches. It’s nice when new but garbage after a year. Basically paper weights now.
i love that there are these real life tests, thanks Des for that; You're really helping us out here to make an informed and wise decision!
Sure thing, Igor! Thanks!

Vertix 2 is Enduro 1 competitor. Coros does not have a watch that can compete with Phenix 7 series (including E2, Epix, FR955), except battery wise.
And price of course!!!!
Hi, Des don't you think viewing the comparison via Satellite view would be fair to really know n see the accuracy?
It doesn't necessarily make a difference when what we're looking for are obvious errors in track accuracy which can be seen with either overlay
