They had a televised crane championship on Japanese TV a few months ago. The top 2 players were ordinary Japanese housewives. They scored almost every time by identifying little places the grabber will catch on the toy etc, so clearly there's a skill to it as well as the settings on the box.
The original Top Gear started in 1977 I'll give you that but ended its run in 2001. Although the show I'm referring to is the one that Richard Hammond has a place on. The program that began filming in 2001 (and aired in 2002) is a completely separate show from the original Top Gear in the sense that almost all of the original cast and crew went on to Fifth Gear which was originally going to be called Top Gear had it not been for the BBC continuing to publish Top Gear Magazine.
People, just watch what he does and not about the supervisor, that part was only there to show that there are really settings. He just watched and saw that every eleventh person was able to get it, so he waited for ten people to play and then he went in for the kill. This is showing that if you pay attention to who's winning then you will win yourself. Great video... voting five.
I have so much Fun for playing Claw Machine from like 10 years and almost around 11 years from my memories Inculded rages moment, even tho I lost my collection plushies wins cause my mom didn’t want sell it’s just giving away stupid poor kids. but now I’m retried playing it cause it don’t have good license and stuff, I still remember I have 4 in one from first try right around my brother plan going college, it will always be my memories 😌
Encountered a machine with a yellow box today at an amusement park. I won twice, but I grabbed several animals that were completely encased within the claw, lifted, and then fell out! They were absolute perfect grabs, and the entire small stuffed animal was all within the claw area. It took us playing several times to realize that there was a setting. Now we know for next time.
when i went to six flags for a trip when i was a freshman, and i won a first generation ipod nano the year it came out from a crane machine after 2 tries.
this is sometimes not the case anymore. I have my own crane, it pays out after a certain amount of plays, but on mine and many other newer machines it randomizes the payout so that u cant figure out the rate! also they can be set on something called an Active Percentage Control, which means that if there is a loss on a win try or a win on a loser try it will make up for the wins or losses making it pretty hard to tell when it will payout. and newer cranes have either an LCD display screen or is configured by dip switches or by the timer and credit screen. not all machines have a yellow box. that was just those. many different machines have different ways to configure.
I once played one of the large Sugar Loaf machines. The claw picked up a very large prize, moved toward the drop tube, the stopped, reversed direction on its own, and dropped the stuffed animal back in its original position.
They only open up the machine to show you the control box. It's just to show you how the machine works and how the crane game is controlled by the supervisors. The method described does not require you to look at the box, just that you wait patiently to count the number of attempts between "wins" to figure out the "magic number".
One guy dresses in coveralls with a dolly and the other in a suit with a clipboard. They go into an establishment with a claw machine with new counter people. They explain they need to take the machine in for maintenance. Then, they haul the machine off, load it in the truck, and they leave. That's how.
I used to work in an arcade in the united states. All of our claw machines did infact have a claw strengh dial, but not the other one with the win to loose ratio. Basicaly their are some prizes in there that are going to be absolutley imposible to win due to their size or weight or both. go for small round objects. or just punch in the glass front what ever works.
I like to position the claw so it picks the animal up and flips it over in the direction of the hole, do this a few times and it should flip into the hole pretty fast :)
In major cities with casinoes... the crane machines do not have this yellow box. It's illegal for an establishment in most gambling cities to have something like this in a machine. I know because I saw an engineer manufacturing and saw inside. When I questioned him he told me that.
here on the philippines we have plenty of crane machines the one machine that I always prefer was the net game.. Instead of a crane ur using a net to catch some stuff toys and I always win! =)
Cannycart, he was just showing you what controls the strength, and how often the machine pays out. You never actually touch the box. Watch the video again.
I once found a machine that had been way over-filled. I won 4 or 5 toys without even closing the claw, they were stacked so high you could just nudge them down into the hole with the claw.
In the United States, there has been legislation passed that allows all crane games to give every player the same chance. Not sure if the same is in the UK, but this video seems to prove that they are screwed.
Михаил Костин it's actually a legally enforced regulation. in some places the psi settings are such that only 1 in 12 tries will have sufficient grip to win.
brainiac is so cool i love that program!!! it rulez!!! but the only ting rong wit dis way to beat the system is that not many people would go on them machienes so u would be waitin for days!!!!! man u kicks ass!!! even though they lost 1-0 today!!
One time, I walked up to a crane game without money with me. I moved the joy stick, and the crane moved! I guess someone had left money in there. I told my sister and she won a Super Man hat from it. She gave it to our friend and changed it from "Man Of Steel" (on the back) to "Z-Man of Steel."
another, more effective way to win is to use a baseball bat and when the claw machine repairman comes, use your bat again you then win his wallet, cell and the keys to his repair truck which is probably full of stuffed animals
yeah but it's still a liner equation... say someone wins then person 2,3,&4 go, then the kid comes when it should win. then players 6,7,8,&9, followed by another winner. even though you calculated for ten, you are going to go at turn 20, which is still divisible by 5, therefore still a winning turn.
@clocwirkoj If you play one of the non-rigged games (full, shovel like claws that clamp shut very tight) its realy fun. ofcourse, these machines normaly hold very small things, or its just a tub full of candy. But, they are epic, and there is REAL skill involved.
i was at 6 flags theme park the other day and in one machine they had psp'ss and nintendo dsi's and ipod touch's... i wonder how often those pay out... AHHHH i was sooo close to winning

Jhvc niyfg
yes, and that warm feeling inside
Thanks Dr. Ian Terry
I LOVE THIS Brainiac Video

i loved this show on G4 when is was still airing ....
i miss good programming on G4
Wow didn't know there was so much to this!
My man knows his top gear! Good lad! :D
i love Brainiac :)
oh snap i remember watching this episode and never knew untill now it was richard hammond
I remember first seeing this back in 2006.
That guy was way to enthused about winning that stuffed puppy.
That is SO cool!
Imagine someone doing this strategy on the ones in Six Flags... Man he'd be there all day.
Wow! Useful!
this is soo cool must try it

So basically, you gotta spend a couple of hours, hanging out by a claw machine like some creeper, all for a stuffed toy?
im a claw machine expert and not all machines have a yellow box or a payout rate but all machines do have a claw strength switch

He really wanted that stuffed puppy.
when i went to six flags for a trip when i was a freshman, and i won a first generation ipod nano the year it came out from a crane machine after 2 tries.
yup

GamerGreen Ambassador Mark Claw Machine HERO i defininty agree with you!
This is 2006
I once played one of the large Sugar Loaf machines. The claw picked up a very large prize, moved toward the drop tube, the stopped, reversed direction on its own, and dropped the stuffed animal back in its original position.

My dad always wins at crane games and thanks to him I have a freaking hammock full of stuff animals.
- The final step is to smash the glass window with your handy baseball bat.
yes
hahas its so fun getting to know the trick... but you have to stand there and wait lols.
gotta be one of the best programmes: eva!
it actually makes you like science1 (well...with explosions, TNT, thermite and a hell of a lot of caravans!)
all you have to do is get a small person through the opening and have them grab your prize.
it works at dave & busters
One guy dresses in coveralls with a dolly and the other in a suit with a clipboard. They go into an establishment with a claw machine with new counter people. They explain they need to take the machine in for maintenance. Then, they haul the machine off, load it in the truck, and they leave.
That's how.
Down with the system!!!!!!
good
this is probably the only useful thing ive learned from brainiac
I used to work in an arcade in the united states.
All of our claw machines did infact have a claw strengh dial, but not the other one with the win to loose ratio.
Basicaly their are some prizes in there that are going to be absolutley imposible to win due to their size or weight or both.

Best Tricks 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Willandacamera io love that phrase from toy story
here on the philippines we have plenty of crane machines
the one machine that I always prefer was the net game..
Instead of a crane ur using a net to catch some stuff toys and I always win! =)
Nice!Really Nice i remeber that :))
Brainiac. The last great show on G4.
Cannycart, he was just showing you what controls the strength, and how often the machine pays out. You never actually touch the box. Watch the video again.
COOL
Somehow it's just more fun to win a toy using a bigger toy to grab it.
I once found a machine that had been way over-filled. I won 4 or 5 toys without even closing the claw, they were stacked so high you could just nudge them down into the hole with the claw.
In the United States, there has been legislation passed that allows all crane games to give every player the same chance. Not sure if the same is in the UK, but this video seems to prove that they are screwed.
i wish brainiac was on still
Top Gear and Brainiac both ran simultaneously. Brainiac ran from 2003-2008, and Top Gear has run from 2001-Present.
fun!
I learned how to do this during Stats in 9th grade. I wish they had taught me it when I was 8!
thats crazy..cant believe that =O
That rocks, I'm gonna go win me a poodle!
I remember spending over $20 on one of these machines trying to win a toy ginger cat. It the end I finally won it and still have him today :)
it is
the patience...
oh I'm sure the security would just love you doing that :) heh
I sat in the office of the president of the company that owns all of these and he told me that the key is you have to know what to go for
he was a presenter of brainiac
That made me laugh so hard XD
hey me to
i hear that. i need to get away from those things.
Theres no way in hell I'm waiting that long just to win a cuddly toy...
Yes, you are.
Wait, so the machine is officially cheating? How can something like that be legal?
Михаил Костин it's actually a legally enforced regulation. in some places the psi settings are such that only 1 in 12 tries will have sufficient grip to win.
Русский!
You should out my channel I do Claw machine and Arcade Gameplay + Giveaways on my channel and teach you how to win
so...the strategy for winning the 5 cent plush toy is to sit and watch the machine for who knows how long? that sounds fun...
brainiac is so cool i love that program!!! it rulez!!! but the only ting rong wit dis way to beat the system is that not many people would go on them machienes so u would be waitin for days!!!!! man u kicks ass!!! even though they lost 1-0 today!!
Yay, now I know how to win :D
in hershey park there is an impossible one lol but this summer i can finally beat it
One time, I walked up to a crane game without money with me. I moved the joy stick, and the crane moved! I guess someone had left money in there. I told my sister and she won a Super Man hat from it. She gave it to our friend and changed it from "Man Of Steel" (on the back) to "Z-Man of Steel."
Ураа
omg i been to the place they filmed this :)

what you just said mean that is does work, either it gives out on the 14th or you simply aren't good at grabbing stuffed animals.
just close your eyes and be the crane :)
This pays off assuming your time is worth nothing.
if you stand there looking at a machine with a clipboard and paper then you'll look like a stocker
yeah but it's still a liner equation...
say someone wins then person 2,3,&4 go, then the kid comes when it should win. then players 6,7,8,&9, followed by another winner.
even though you calculated for ten, you are going to go at turn 20, which is still divisible by 5, therefore still a winning turn.
smash the window works very well
Love how he uses his f*ck you finger @ 0:15
For brainiacs, none of you seem to understand the gambler's ruin fallacy.
@clocwirkoj If you play one of the non-rigged games (full, shovel like claws that clamp shut very tight) its realy fun.
ofcourse, these machines normaly hold very small things, or its just a tub full of candy.
But, they are epic, and there is REAL skill involved.
aww man thank you about this video my mum lost a dollar on those crane game and left without a prize
How to win
1. Grab bottle
2. Smash glass
3. Grab prize.
4. RUN!
FUCK YEAH! I beat the box loads of times with this tip!!!
@buburchaos yes
@yoboss1049 i think they're called 'fruit machines' ;)
It is still possible to win multiple times in a row, it is just easier on the turns that is guarenteed.
yeah and some machines are set to win EVERYTIME but they also have shitty prices or are expensive, or whatever makes them profit.
i was at 6 flags theme park the other day and in one machine they had psp'ss and nintendo dsi's and ipod touch's... i wonder how often those pay out... AHHHH i was sooo close to winning
Press the play button further up the page. That's how.
i got an PSP just for $1 !!!! THX TO THIS VID!(nice vid ! 5/5)
This is true!! Today is the first time I ever played this game. Within the first dollar (2 tries) I won Clyde the Pac Man Ghost. So later I decided to try to win pacman. 2 or 3 dollars later I grabbed pacman everytime but onces, the crane would pick it up and then drop it. so you have to stand there with a peice of paper for a few hours watching people for a little stuffed toy. :S
@jcole60brit: Perhaps, but I wasn't talking about those.
