My wife needed a new tablet and I just ordered this one for her. Glad you did a video of it. It will work great for her. Got it on the Lenovo website and includes the pen and keyboard.
After a couple of bad experiences with defective Onn tablets, this was my next choice. I've been super happy with it. The 120Hz OLED screen is *way* easier on the eyes and, the sound is room filling and substantial Additionally, the Lenovo tablet supports USB-C to HMDI-out natively, whereas the Onn does not. Bundling in a snappier and cleaner variant of android OS, a much lighter frame, and the option to upgrade to a pressure sensitive pen all make a pretty big difference. The big thing is that it's been rock solid, not a glitch to be had (at least in a week of owning it)
Lenovo burnt me hard with lack of updates on the Tab 10, and a real lack of any decent third party or even official accessories like a keyboard case. Their software team needs to give their head a shake.
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for Lenovo to update anything Android related. Such a shame they didn't keep what was one of the best things about Motorola. I've got a Lenovo Tab P11 Pro 1st Gen and it received one update to Android 11 about the time that Android 12L became available.

Although Lenovo tablets have nice hardware for the price they mislead customers promising software updates that never deliver, those interested should keep this in mind, it’s almost certainly you will stay in the same OS the device comes with all the bugs it has. If you can stand that go ahead.
Yeah they really need to at least promise like 4 years of security patches. I don't even care that much about OS updates but it's hard to recommend devices if they're not guaranteed to get security patches for a reasonable amount of time. It is true that Google Play service updates to provide some help in keeping these products functional after their official end of life but that's fine for an enthusiast... Not something I would recommend for a casual
No backlit keyboard is a deal breaker for me; pretty much the same problem I have with all the Lenovo tablets. They're generally great hardware otherwise (although I'd probably go for the Pro model), and can often be found for 30-40% off. I also wish more tablet manufacturers would make 3:2 tablets...
This combo type of OS reminds me, there really are no devices that have windows AND android working together, right? For example use windows 11 OS for productivity and then easily “switch” to android when you want to relax and consume media.
I have the Lenovo P10 (the top of the line one with the speaker dock) and the TB-850 8" bought the same year. Both would run out of battery in a day, even when shut down completely. This is from day one of purchase. The P10 had all kinds of problems connecting with the dock via BT. Why they didn't use the pin connectors to fully connect to the dock instead of BT I don't know why. In the Lenovo forums owners were pleading to Lenovo to come up with a working update, and all pleas seemed to fall on deaf ears with Lenovo reps responding with canned replies that were no help. This went on for months. Anyway, these two tablets so soured me on the Lenovo brand I'll never buy one of their products again. There are a lot of owners of these tablets who feel the same as me.
My lenovo tablet with the built in kickstand is the best. One of those magic features that really limits the product so you understand why it got killed but nothing quite makes up it.
Got this little monster for 349 euro in italy long time ago 8/256 , it rocks, easy to upgrade to Android 13 just follow any tip and tricks on internet , must to have , cheap and deadly
I got the tablet but not in this kit, which I wish I could have at least got with the pen 😢 but paired with the MX Keys Mini its not too bad. Great tablet, does everything I need to do.
If I wanted to use my tablet as a pc (and I did get the keyboard for mine in case I wanted to do that), then I would need to be able to use a word-processor and spreadsheet, not games. It seemed to me a terrible shame that such basic uses of a PC weren't even mentioned here.
Excellent review and awesome device. Don't get me wrong, I am still a Windows weenie, but THIS is the exact computing product I have been clamoring for for about a decade. (I even made abundant, and surely obnoxious, comments on Android websites to try to get my request out there lol). Yes, Samsung has made similar devices for the last few years, but always waaay above the $300 price point which I think is the threshold for a "casual, pay the bills, laptop". Samsung cynically omits the trackpad on all but the most pricey Galaxy Tabs. Unfortunately, my elderly mother needed a laptop a couple of years ago and there was nothing but Chromebooks under $300, so we were forced into buying one. I absolutely despise the OS (and knew I would) but the Android laptop choices were non-existent and there was no way we were going to do an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard case. I hope this "Android Laptop" segment sticks around because Android is all many people need...particularly older folks who aren't in the Apple world.
well said. this P11 Gen 2 combo. with precision pen 2 & keyboard is what I have been looking for. at first I want to go for a Surface Go but there are already PC & laptop, I think this is just right
I was considering one of these but passed due to the potential lack of long-term support. Instead I found a 2022 Asus Zenbook 14 with an i5 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD, and 90 Hz OLED screen for $353 open box (it looked brand new) from Best Buy.
sure the zenbook gets abysmal battery life, the screen isn't going to blind you, asus software breaks windows someitmes. Having a zenbook flip myself with a 11th gen i5, oh good gosh yeah. Blows every android tablet outa the water, AND you get a full winders computer with a tablet mode. The only asterisk, I like winders 10 in tablet mode wayyyyyyyy more than 11. Gestures in 11 don't really work still. now i do like having my fire 11 nearby for battery life and more casual use.
Excellent Review . I have had my P11 for a week now . Disapointed to find it still ships with Android 12 and online updates still says this is a current version. As Lenovo is the parent company of Motorola; whose Android update policy is awful, I am not vey confident that 13 will come soon. I am currently trying to get into Productivity mode but cannot get my trackpad to work and there is no on-screen cursor. Not helped by a lack of documentation from Lenovo.
Problem with these type of devices is the software support. For Chromebooks, you can get 6-8 years of support. For these android tablets, maybe one or two years if you're lucky.
I have a decade+ old Android phone running 4.4.4 Kit Kat. I keep it "alive" as an admittedly sad experiment. Incredibly, I can still do almost everything I would need with it. The reason for this is because even when the app drops out of the play store, I can just bookmark the web-based version of it in "Kiwi Browser", pin that bookmark to the home screen (it even makes an icon), and boom, it operates almost exactly like the real app. Instagram, TH-cam and Google Photos for example, all work great as web apps. My point is, I think people over exaggerate the point you made about lack of updates and support. I think any Android device will go five years without big problems (that can't be worked around). I know it matters of course, but I don't see the catastrophic cliff of failure that others do.
Less than $300 for the package with the pen and the folio keyboard is not bad at all... Reminds me of the Lenovo duet except for the obvious fact that it's running Android instead.
This is never been a strong suit for Lenovo. Google, OnePlus, Samsung are now all offering 5 years of security patches. But if you were to get a Lenovo Chromebook duet 5 or something I think that still gets another six or seven years of updates. This one, I don't know if it will get Android 14 and 15... @LonSeidman At 10:58. You are talking about the Android Desktop Mode it was (first widespread use) originally on Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets called Samsung Dex
It could be useful as a remote to queue up movies, music, photos, slide shows for a home theater or an art show. The USB 2 Type C connector is certainly fast enough to operate external hard drives. I wonder if there is an adapter for the micro SD card slot to convert it into a second data port? Though it might only be at USB 2 speeds as well. You should start showing how to open these tablets up to see if the storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RAM, or other components is something that can be user upgraded. Maybe grade it by skill level? Casual users might be able to upgrade the storage or the radio transceivers. More experienced users might be able to de-solder the RAM to replace with something else. SSDs have a very short useful lifespan. Being able to replace them when they croak is an important consideration.
Is it some versions that don't support HDMI out, I've seen videos of some people connecting their Lenovo Tab P11 Gen 2 to a monitor with a HDMI adapter?
I just got this tablet and "PRODUCTIVITY MODE" is now "PC MODE" and it only work for my admin user, it shows as unavailable for other 2 users I have, (unavailable for guest users as well) Do you have the same issue? anyone knows anything about this? I've been searching online and connected Lenovo and no solution (they said it was a google problem)
