  • "So if you want to start building network the first thing you have to do is basically build yourself. Read a lot of books, become a person with a lot of colors, where you can be in different conversations, at a table or in a conference or in a networking event" - Luka Lamaj
Thrilled to share insights from my conversation with Luka Lamaj, an inspirational entrepreneur and CEO of Docere Health. Luka's journey from Albania to Canada reveals the challenges faced by newcomers, the behind-the-scenes sacrifices they make to succeed, and how they can build a network of mentors, investors, and supporters from scratch.
What I particularly loved was Luka’s reminder (which I often need) to not take someone’s disrespect as a personal attack. Sadly, there are so many dimensions along which people disrespect one another: from age to background to fluency to accent. It’s on them and their way of dealing with others, and it’s rarely personal. As Luka mentions, even those that offend you, they don’t really mean it sometimes, and sometimes can turn into advocates later on.
Bio: Luka Lamaj is an entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Docere Health, a healthcare technology company dedicated to alleviating the burden on healthcare professionals and enhancing patient care. He was recently recognized as the Top Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Canada.
With a profound passion for improving the healthcare ecosystem, Luka's journey into the venture was fueled by a desire to combat burnout and streamline medical practices. Under his leadership, Docere Health has grown exponentially, serving numerous clinics and healthcare institutions.
Luka's commitment to innovation extends beyond Docere Health. He is also the Co-Director of Nucleate Dojo, a global student-run organization empowering biotech innovators at the undergraduate level. He is also involved in biotech startups as an angel investor and his recognition as the Student Champion Entrepreneur of Canada 2022 and Microsoft Competition Winner 2023 highlight his dedication to driving positive change in the healthcare and biotechnology sectors.
