I know it might seem like a lot of fish but compared to the commercial catch it's a tiny fraction of the total. The commercials can kill more fish in a day than than all of the sport fisherman combined for an entire season. Also, the fish in the area are typically much larger than what is found in most areas. Those fish are big but not the giants live there.
I'm from California I watched three the years as me and my family kept keeping Big lungs cow cod golden eye China cod for years 30 plus years now when I go out in fort brag California or fort Ross big rock fish are 3.4.5 pounds babies because every one took the big ones I hate to see big hens harvested and 60 year old golden eyes it's a shame
