  • How to Dual Boot Linux Mint 20 & Windows 10 with No steps skipped.
In this video, we'll take a look at how to dual boot Windows 10 & Linux Mint 20, using MBR partitioning scheme and Legacy BIOS mode. I am doing this on a SEAGATE 500GB HDD. This procedure is for both Laptops & Desktops, and you can follow along for older versions of Mint as well. This video assumes that you already have installed Windows 10, and that you've backed up your data.

You used 4 partitions while others have done this with 2 or 3 partitions. If I understand correctly Linux has its own boot partition and the windows boot partition was not modified by the Linux installer (others boot directly to Grub). The root and home are different partitions, separating the operating system from the user data (which I do on my Windows installations).
This partitioning scheme insures that if there is a problem with the Linux installer or the Grub boot loader Windows will still boot and run normally. In the end we still boot to the Windows boot loader to choose our OS (like duel booting 2 versions of Windows). This looks like the safest way to add Linux without potentially damaging the Windows installation. It is more familiar and less intimidating to a Windows user trying to do their first Linux install.

I got a bit angry and accidently deleted the Windows boot. I sweat so much trying to recover the Windows boot by button smashing in the BCD program. Suddenly I now have 3 Windows boot. When I restart the pc, now I can choose which OS to start including Linux. Overall, it did work, thank you very much !!

Then another information regarding the manual partitioning can you tell me the exact commands to put? For mbr then for when it concerns the programs As soon as installed I uninstall them with the programs without leaving a trace then I right click on the disk and I clean and I do the cleaning then in temp prefetch then I have a memory of 4gb I saw that in the video you put a partitioning in ram manually to create the ram to be dedicated has linux me having 4gb what number should I put? thank you very much and good day carlo
