    I Lived in Brighton, Michigan in 1969. I grew up there. The original Boss 429 cars were built in my town back then at Kar Kraft. Good work, Men!

    Ford should've put an 850 cfm carb on these from the factory. Never understood why Ford stuck a little 735 cfm carb on both the BOSS 429 and 428 CJ/SCJ engines. Swap out the 735 for an 850 cfm carb and lose the factory smog equipment and restrictive exhaust system for headers and dual Flowmaster Super 40s and unleash the monster that is the Ford BOSS 429

    • @allenmax8995
      @allenmax8995 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Iagree...the carb thing is strange.....anyways ...what I have always thought to be strange was that Ford only offered the Boss429 in the Mustang for homologation purposes ....why they never offered the engine in the Torino /Cyclone , the car that was actually raced in NASCAR, has always seemed odd. It would have been such a great package from the factory.

      @oldhp mopar Ford used a 780 Holley on the Boss 302 And Boss 351 Those 4V Cleveland Heads had Bigger Intake Runners then the Boss 429, and the 428 CJ

    This vid was awesome! I was an army brat back in the early 70s and lived in Germany the G.I.s would sell their vehicles on short notice when they would be called back to the world as we would say. I think the guys did a great job bringing this car back to life! They did everything right, you cannot hurt early American engines ! They had it humming! The USA sticker on the back of the car was mandatory for service men . I have a 73 duster that my dad bought new while stationed in Nurmburg . It was shipped to a port then picked up by my dad , after 3 years it was shipped back to New Jersey . After getting off our plane we picked it up and drove it to Treasure Island in California where we were re-stationed. It needs some restoration and a motor. Hopefully I can get it running. I still have the green USA license that were used on the car in Germany.

    Having read some of the start up comments, I have this to say.
    I had a 350 Chevy rebuilt for my 57 Chevy.. Decided on a big block and put the 350 in storage, everything was well lubed when built. Engine sat for 8 yrs. Completely sealed and dry. Gave it to my son for a land cruiser project. Took it out of storage put it in his land cruiser engine fired right up ran great....for about 2,000 miles, spun a rod bearing...
    I would have most definitely taken that 429 apart, inspected everything, if it all checked out, lubed it up with lithium and put it back together and ran the shit out of it. Amazing find...

      Gary Smith
      Your 350 wasn't built right if it spun a rod bearing right away or your son ran the snot out of it and just didn't tell you.

      Hi, I rebuilt an engine that had been sitting about 10 years and I was amazed to find that the bearing shells, mains and big ends looked like they had been attacked by wood worm.. full of crazy tunnels from one side to the other. Read later that old oil can dissolve bearing material.. yeah.

    I got a comment. I own a 70 Boss 429. I want to put an 850-1000 cfm Holley double pumper carburetor on it and build a decent exhaust. But the FORD community chastises me for even wanting a fast 429. Stock 427 Corvettes or Camaros will beat it at any friday night drag race. Boss guys are nuts on toast to keep their cars factory choked to Pinto horse power ratings. You can make 600hp with bolt on parts. Shelve the precious SMOG crap and lets drive em a bit instead of having to bow our heads every time a Corvette shows up!

    • @josephtravers777

    Sure, just change the fluids and plugs and start it right up. Ignore the fact that after sitting up for decades the cylinder walls will be pitted with rust from condensation, and sometimes even the crankshaft. It may run, but with half the power, and it is destroying itself in the process. Just because it turns, doesn't mean that it should be cranked.

      Exactly. I think it was homologation effort and if you wanted performance you bought a 302 powered car. I knew of one which new and and a mate has restored one but gone a bit mental on the engine mods ,upgrades to suspension etc to make it live up to the promise.

    • @robertelmo7736
      @robertelmo7736 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Where do you people get this from? A Boss 429 would run all over the 302 Boss and it's pipsqueak motor. You can go look at the old magazine tests where they ran 13's to low low 14 second quarter miles if you just type it in. I bet there are 15 different tests out there lol, were they all lying?
      High Performance Cars, 9/69 issue ran 13.60@106 and Super Street Cars ran a 13.64 @105 with the 70' model? Someone ran 13.30's if I remember right.

    • @Mercmad
      @Mercmad 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was around,Driving,when these cars were new. A BB Mustang is a slow evil handling bitch. if you wanted speed and great handling you went with the 302 powered Cars. The BB's were simply homologation specials for Nascar and drag racing. You didn't get a Talladega winning car just because it was 390,427 or 428, You had to "build' the engine yourself to get a race winning car. And Yes, Car and Driver, Hot Rod, Car Craft etc were all under the marketing thumb of the big three and even Brock Yates himself said on occasion that they "tuned" the cars to achieve results in testing etc.

    A quick amendment to my previous comment. The Volbeat music is good, however, this video should be about the car!

      you are not wrong. Despite the big engine,these were not fast cars. Te big engine was meant for guys to go drag racing on the weekends and provide publicity for Ford. But Mopar won ...

      Mercmad put a 300 or lower number rear in it,you'll top over 200 mph easy,and they ran flat out for 500 miles & lasted.

    How about talking about what your doing and the history of the car being in germany instead of that horrible music? Just saying

      YES!!! Thankyou, I don't know why these people think other people want to hear second rate music, just tell us the backround! You can't afford the publishing for good music anyway!

      Hallo,
      also us car fans fallen vom glauben ab.
      Wie es sein kann das ein 429 boss mustang all die jahre hier verschollen ist. Wir wissen sehr wohl was das für ein unikat ist.
      Ich glaubte zuerst es ist ein fake video. Aber zu dieser zeit als das auto hier lief hatten diese solche usa aufkleber zur kennung der nationalität .
      Also hatte irgend einer hier in deutschland dieses fahrzeug besorgt und einige zeit gefahren. Mann kann leider nicht sehen ob er ein km/h speedometer hat. dann währe es sogar ab werk so ausgeliefert worden.
      Hello, so us car fans fall away from belief. How can it be that a 429 boss mustang has been stuck here all these years. We know very well what that is unique. At first I thought it was a fake video. But at the time when the car was running, these USA had stickers to identify their nationality. So someone here in Germany bought this vehicle and drove it for a while. Unfortunately, you cannot see whether you have a km / h speedometer. then it would even have been delivered ex works.

    Anybody can't just do this. They made it look easy. You have to have a clue espescially the way they swapped out the caburator.

      Oldschoolhiphop - if you know your way around an engine it isn't hard. It's common sense.

      Oldschoolhiphop maybe they didn't swap it out but rebuilt it,or gave it a good cleaning. After setting for so many years,gaskets leak bad on Holleys.

    Good Job! Don't bother with the big heads from US. First they should bring home all the military vehicles around the world and that will take an eternity.
