      The hand mixture that you have shown at around 6:30 is identical to the one my grandma used to mix cooked dal (lentils) at our home. She was from Bihar, India. I am curious to know whether there is any connection between Bihar and Ghana?? It would be interesting to know. Please reply.

    Most of the stuff you came across, the Indians in Jamaica and others make and eat regularly. We are all so similar throughout the Caribbean and Guyana is the cousin we constantly make sure is in the room.

    • @carolking8835
      @carolking8835 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Colin Yapp....... I would hardly describe Guyanese food as comparitive with every other Caribbean country. And I am a Trinbagonian who has lived in Richmond Hill, Queens many years ago.
      Their chow mein/ lo mein and Chinese food has its own distinctive flavours and technique and they are the only folks who have the chicken foot snacks and the pepper pots and casserip they are known for. Their chicken pies are way diffrent to Jamaican patties.
      And finally, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname are the true roti and paratas kings of the Caribbean. All three use the same method to cook curries.

    • @ColinYapp
      @ColinYapp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@carolking8835 Well you have your opinion, I also said similar because I have many Guyanese friends and while it is not the same, it is not so vastly different that you cannot see that they share similar lineage.

    Thank you for sharing Jon and Tonya. I use to live over there by Lefferts Bldv. in the 90's. I use to shop around there. I also use to go to the Sybil's on Liberty Ave. Now I go to the one on Hillside Ave. I hope ya feeling aright with that pepper.🥵 Take care you two. And God bless.🤗🙏🏽🙇🏽‍♀️❤️

    One part to show of Richmond Hill that is nice are the lovely large houses near Forest Park at its northern border. Richmond Hill is a nice place to explore and great to introduce us to the cuisines there.

    Richmond Hill / Little Guyana is well known to actual New Yorkers. Maybe it's little known to transplants that stay in Manhattan, Williamsburg or LIC.
