  • drag 'n drop DSP'ing - and no SMDs to solder
    It seems that to even dip your feet in the ocean of DSP (digital signal processing) you need lots of SMD soldering skills and a ton of math. Seems. Let's end the anxiety: here is a Universal Audio DSP board for the DIYer. Based on the Analog Devices ADAU1701 DSP, this board has only through-hole components-except for the DSP itself, which Elektor PCB Service reflow-solder in place especially 4 U.

    This module was available 8 years? Why did it take so long to start to become more well known? wow. I got a KABD-4100, excited to start using this.

    What was that beautiful piece you were playing at the beginning?

    Great work. I had to add #include to my code to get it to work though.

    looks cool. is it also possible to add delay, cross-over and notch filter with this board and software ?

      Please refer to the documentation of SigmaStudio www.analog.com/sigmastudio to find out what can and can't be done with this board and how.

    Hi Sir, is there a way to use Arduino to save data to EEPROM of ADAU1701 before it shuts down so it can remember my volume settings when it turns on again? I've read a bit, it seems that "writeback" is the name used for the process but cant figure it out.

    The ADC input caps are way too small (100n), the data sheet suggest 47uF....

      ***** That depends on the frequency range you want.

    has anyone used or figured out a way to use sigma studio with chips/board on uad apollo interfaces? (to prototype ideas using my existing hardware/sharc dsp chips)

    does it require a programmer or is it a stand alone piece, can see the usb, where is it available to buy.

    • @ElektorTV
      @ElektorTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It required a simple DIY Arduino-based programmer. Unfortunately it is no longer for sale.

      @@ElektorTV looks to be an interesting board, that to everthing on board unlike wondom dsp, does it have a room correction ? is there any by chance one be available , what was its price?

    i hope some one can answer this with the software can i filter sub sonic filter unwonted low frequencys from a subwoofer as i am building a 2.1 modified boombox and the O.E. subwoofer is small two 3 inch in a ported box and can not take the low stuff like 15 hz to say 30hz just a an example ?

      From ADI's EngineerZone: ADI's Dynamic Bass module can do what you're looking for -- in addition to a sliding bass boost, it includes a sharp highpass filter you can set to the lowest frequency your woofer can handle -- to keep subsonic stuff from shaking it apart.

    I have an ADAU1701 breakout with SSM2306 2W class D. It includes the USBi for programming. Can your arduino code replace the USBi completely? I would like to use the ADAU1701 IC with my own 6000W Class D amp but Im not sure about how to tackle the USBi interface. Ill check out the elektor article referenced.

      Hi Nicholas
      I don't think so. I am saving up for the demo board as well the USB uses a proprietary protocol to communicate no replica exists. hehe unless you willing to reverse engineer it :)

    • @NicholasFarrell81
      @NicholasFarrell81 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it seems strange AD doesn't make real time control easy. Looks like the firmware is on the 24AA256 EEPROM. I think that just configures CY7C68053-56BAXI USB Micro
      I'm going to go through the USB uControllers data sheet now, maybe hook up my logic analyzer and sniff the USB

      Nicholas Farrell Hi, yeah that's right! There is a topic on this very subject on the forum hehe I wish there was sneaky way to bypass but ah money making business I guess
      Do you have a blog or contact I get stay in touch with you I would like to keep contact on this topic will visit this maybe in a month or two.

      Nicholas Farrell Have you looked at the adau1446? the 1701 is limited to 4-channel DAC and limited to 4 channels.

      Yes, I have a ADAU1446 Dev board. (It's a beast!) However, for this project I want to use the 1701 with real time control of Sigma Studio.

    is it possible to use this board like 3band equalizer???

  • @Cbranets
    @Cbranets 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Working with Sigma DSPs requires the USBi interface.
    At the same time building this project or any other project without the USBi is a waste of time and money.
    You cannot control the DSP in real-time with arduino. So don't EVER think its possible without the USBi.

      You can make a diy USBi with a cy7c68013a (google freeUSBi), but you can easily control the dsp in realtime using the i2c or spi bus from any microcontroller. Someone even made a library for arduino to do exactly this: github.com/MCUdude/SigmaDSP
