A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

I didn't care what people thought when I reverted. I reverted by myself. My girlfriend reverted after me without my knowledge. We got married and have beautiful children and have been married for 10 years. Allah is the greatest.

My mother actually wants me to marry a revert, because reverts most of the time are more religious . We are born with the gift of Islam, it’s all we know many of us take it for granted but for reverts Islam is the truth and answer they’ve been looking for their whole life.

I reverted 17 years ago. I can honestly say, I've had some negativity from fellow Muslims. Hard to deal with,very painful and hurtful. You see it on their faces and manners towards me. There again, I've had some very welcoming moments from fellow Muslims. Please change your perception towards reverts. We are just the same as you, embrace us, and make us feel welcome in the fold of Islam Inshallah.
It's very sad. Believe me born muslims from the same ethnic group are prejudiced towards each other

You do know that in Pakistan there is a scam going on in which people try to marry reverts from U.S, Canada, Europe in order to get the nationality of those countries. I am not saying you did it for that reason but reverts from the west should be careful on who to marry.

To be honest, reverts make good muslims than born muslims. I’m a born muslim and watching and reading about reverts strengthens my beliefs and push me to do research and good deeds. They’re an inspiration. Mad respect for all the reverts who stood up for what they believe in against all odds. May Allah reward you plenty.

I reverted almost 7 years ago now. It was so hard to tell my closest friends and family. I had to lie and hide it for so long. But now ahumdillah everyone knows now, I lost a lot of friends during this time and friends still don’t understand my ways of living now, it’s all a slow journey and I wouldn’t change it ever.

I feel like there is high ratio of girls reverting to islam than men, even though females reverting to islam will have to adopt certain restrictions like hijab which are not considered great things among westerners. It is a sign of their sincerity to Islam.

This brings tears to my eyes. It’s a big struggle yes. I reverted in 2005 alhamdoulilah. Then some time after reverting I wanted to get married and i got married in 2006, but his father didn’t want to meet me at all. Even on days like 3id i wasn’t welcome and i was spending 3id by myself. We got divorced and I feel ashamed to say that ramadan en the 3id is a difficult time for me because you see everyone fasting and breaking fast together with their families. I wish I could experience this same feeling. But of course alhamdoulilah 3la koli hal. May Allah guide us all ameen! Ramadan moubarak everyone!! 🕌 💕

I reverted to Al Islam almost four years ago, alhamdulilah.
It was really though alhamdulilah, got kicked out of the house while being quite young, got into a depression, had to learn everything on my own, no examples, no one to understand me.
Couldn't attend taraweeh, because the Masjid was too far for me to cycle at night, SubhanAllah.
Took me almost a year before I met other muslim sisters, I was too afraid to go to the Masjid, but finally knew what sisterhood is.
4 months ago, I got married to my husband, all praise due to Allah.
Besides having a good marriage, hadha min fadli rabbi, I finally have a *real* Ramadan feeling. Breaking fast together, eating suhor together. Something I never experienced before SubhanAllah.
I finally am able to pray taraweeh.
If you're reading this as a revert and you're going through a hard time, know that Allah will make it easy for you in sha Allah. Trust Him, pray to Him, tell Him, ask Him.

I got married with my wife when she was a catholic. I tried to show her what I believe and explained to her all.She came to me and told me i want to be Muslim and accept Islam I told her study more after a while she came back she told me I am ready to accept and she give her shada in our local masjid let me tell you.She became better muslim than I am.She even does davah whenever she see someone.I am glad to not to marry someone from my own country.

From my understanding, Turkish people( i am assuming you are turk ) are mostly conservative but not really a practicing Muslims ( my guess is that about 20 to 30 % of the population are practicing Muslims the rest are either conservative or secular)

Salam alaykum from Germany. I reverted 2 1/2 years ago and it was the biggest struggle in my life. Even when you grow up in the West your whole world falls apart. Your common ground shakes and your identity breaks into 1000 pieces which you have to build up again including Islam in that new YOU. But after all of this struggles I feel so strong in my deen alhamdulila :-). I went this babysteps and now I am a practicing Muslim subhanallah

@fares ousama getting judged for having a rescue dog (I am not gonna get rid of her after 6 years because I converted), judged for celebrating festivities with my non-Muslim family like Christmas, judged for not going to the masjid with a piece of paper to read from, judged for not knowing the terminologies, judged for my past I have been/am being judged for so many things by a lot of born muslims
@fares ousama I rescued her when she was a tiny baby but I am her whole life I cannot just get rid of her now or kick her out that doesn't work. She is clean and fully vaccinated and everything. And yes as a Muslim now I wouldn't get an inside dog again but I have her already I cannot change that.

Thankfully at 17 yrs old I reverted & Alhamdulilah I found the love of my life who is Yemeni 🤲🏻 & Allah has placed him in my life in the Right time & not only did I become a better person but I became a Muslim for Myself & it’s the best thing I have done. & Thanks to Allah I have the most understanding Mother that never once she tried to tell me that I am doing something wrong instead she said “As long as you did it for your self & not for someone else.” & the most touching thing is that she even went out couple days later and bought me some hijabs🥺😢. May Allah have Mercy on her & forgive her & May Allah guide her Insha’Allah 🤲🏻 My mother is the best person ever. I Also want to say I am now 26 turning 27 years old & Alhamdulilah for for that Allah has done for me. I converted exactly 2 years ago, Alhamdulillah. I am Dutch and I have to say sometimes I am shocked about how racist some muslims could be. Not only against me, as a revert, but also amongst each other (race, skin color). I often heard also things like: ´You are a revert, so you cannot marry someone of my origin' Very sad.
That is really stupid because these people don't respect Islam. If you didn't know. All Muslims are brothers and sisters. There are no "skin color" or "origin" in Islam. Congratulations to you. May Allah help you and all Muslims and I hope your family will follow you or at least accept it. Then prophet Peace Be Upon Him said that all Muslims should treat each other right and racism hasn't its place in Islam

I’m reverted from Cuba married with a wonderful Moroccan wife ♥️ . I tried with Palestinians but since I’m not Palestinian was super difficult for me , a lot of the Palestinians brothers I asked their daughter hands in marriage they said no because the culture others asking for crazy mahar like $40,000 dollars 😂 alhamdoli’llāh he gave me something better . Moroccans are easy going and very good peoples .
I'm Palestinian myself and the amount of money I need to marry one is ridiculous. Moroccans are among the best people. They don't make things difficult for no reason.
I worked in Saudi Arabia for years, fell in love with righteous Bedouin woman. I became a revert and though there were many challenges, and even some hatred towards me, those who embraced me as a Muslim made me a better man. Hearing these words gives me hope for Islam being the future of this world.

It's really painful to undergo such situation of rejection from Muslims family when a revert wants to marry of their family. I just didn't know how it feels like for the reverts but know I can imagine from this mufti menk's video. May Allah help all the reverts in the world.

My eyes are tearing up here because I faced similar problems after becoming a Muslim 48 years ago. I know what it's like to be labeled a spy and how difficult it is for a revert to be accepted into a Muslim family. Allah granted me the patience I needed and brought into my life a dedicated brother who despite all the odds married me to his sister. Alhamdulilah, we have five grown Muslim sons and two beautiful grandchildren. That you, Mufti Menk for shedding some light on this issue. I pray that it reaches our brothers and sisters hearts and they will open their families and hearts to a Muslim revert.

I am a revert as well and been through this all, it is sometimes hard BUT now I can say that the one who is being tested is the one who is most loved by Allah subhanahu wa ta ala, and that is what keeps me going. Still, if you turn to Islam and at the same time have so many obstacles it sometimes feels so unfair to born muslims, sisters who have fathers that look after them and seek a spouse for them, familys who pray together, etc etc. But surely everyone is being tested.
I completely agree with you and also think these things. I am a revert and sometimes feel sad as to the fact how Muslim girls have a father to help them find a partner in marriage and look after them where as for reverts it’s completely down to them and it’s not easy. Plus when your family don’t understand Islam it makes you feel really alone

This is a very real problem within the Muslim community and has had devastating effects on my life. I am a revert and was engaged to a Canadian Pakistani man, whom I loved dearly for 4 years, for the whole second half of my twenties. His Pakistani parents put up such an extreme fight that he eventually ended the relationship just before my 30th birthday which everyone in the Muslim community believes to be when a woman is suddenly over the hill. Every single person we consulted about his parents (community elders and imams) advised him to obey his parents and to leave me. I was a very good girl even before Islam and have everything going for me, (intellect, beauty, kind, clean heart) alhumdulilah so his family had no actual complaints, except that I am white. They disowned him, kicked him out of their home, faked heart attacks rode in ambulances, and had emergency room visits where the doctors always told them their hearts were fine. My ex-fiance's mother started performing black magic to try to break us up too. Even the parents of my close Pakistani friends took him aside and told him to leave me because "white ppl divorce and don't respect family values". These are not villagers btw, these are middle to upper class, Torontonian, long-term settled Pakistani families. Meanwhile, as they claimed white ppl divorce and have no values, not a single person on either side of my family was had ever divorced (which is actually shocking to think about) and his own sister was divorced twice. I grew up in a most traditional, idyllic, loving family, where we ate supper together every day and talked about our days, no TV. My family is so loving that even after I reverted, nothing changed in the least. I grew up with the best of family values, alhamdulillah. Muslims my age were amazing. They were friendly, welcoming and warm. The problem was the imams and the parent generation who sadly still pull the strings when it comes to their adult children.
I was young and naive during all this and believed that love always wins so he and I kept enduring and waiting patiently for them to calm down. His father never did meet me and his mother met me briefly twice. I had been conditioned to think that white ppl are the only racists so it was a rude awakening to see how overtly racist many Pakistanis are, despite sincere kindness from me, even in the face of their wrath.
After he ended the relationship, I went into a deep depression for several years. I lost my professional job because my mood was so destroyed. I felt so betrayed by the elders of the Muslim community that I eventually stepped completely away from Islam and the Muslim community. It seemed like I would never be able to marry and live my dream of being a wife and mother if I stayed in the Muslim community. I spent thousands of dollars in therapy.
I'm 37.5 now and still unmarried. The consequences of my ex-fiance's family racism and the heartbreak losing him were profound and I thank you Mufti Menk for calling this behavior what it is: racism. Very few of my many Pakistani friends will call this racism.
I'm finding my way back to Islam as of this past summer but in all honesty, I'm back with a more jaded perspective about Muslims. My experience was life changingly horrifying, by far the worst experience of my life (alhamdulillah bc I know it could be much worse and I am so grateful for all that I have). Please pray for me to find a husband which I can love and be well suited for. My heart is open, I just need to find him and find him soon IA because I will be eternally devasted if I miss my opportunity to have kids.

Reverted in 95. When I look back at my life before Islam, it’s like a former life. I’ve become a completely different person (for the better). Kids need their parents to raise them and adults need Allah to guide them. Alhumdulillah for Islam. 🤲🏾

Alhamdulillah I converted and accepted Islam as my one true religion on August 9th, 2023. I will never forget the feeling inside my chest when I said the words and my eyes started to water from peace. This made my eyes water. Today, is my first time fasting for Ramadan. This is the first step to a new beginning and when I saw the title I was hurt thinking maybe I’m doing the wrong thing by even attempting to convert/revert but this gave me hope. The sisterhood and brotherhood of Islam is one of this first things that made it feel like the right path for me. I can’t even tell you what this means to me.

People say "you don't really know if they stay Muslim or go back to their old ways" and that hurts. Like born Muslims don't have a time that they are researching religion or have a bad time. Unfortunately people always single out the negative. They see that one particular revert that become an ex-muslim (and only God knows for what reason) and all of the sudden people can only think of that. But people forget the first muslims who died upon Islam. They aren't even counted as 'reverts'. It's a sad reality indeed. But don't give up on hope.
And ameen to our dua. Unfortunately there are a few female reverts that have been taken advantage of. I really feel sad for them.

I am in the process of reverting. I have to say it is very scary. Luckily my parents said they would love me no matter what, even though my mom is Christian and continuously try to convince me Jezus is God. My God bless her soul. I am so scared I will spend the rest of my life in between this and that, and never truly fit in with either group. But I have to be strong and stick to my convictions and faith.

Both my brothers married reverts and they had been the best additions to our family. My parents went above and beyond to make them feel like home, we embrace them and tried hard to embrace their non-Muslim families coz their families were against them. Now their families finally accepted them again. One of the family (my second sis-in-law’s brother) had also reverted. We’re aiding him to understand Islam as well. In sha Allah, may one day all of them will join us. And may Allah bless the family of my brothers and make their sons and daughters among the believers amiin.

Islam isn't a race nor is it something that is hereditary or passed on genetically. A revert that has said the Shahada is just as much a Muslim as someone born into a Muslim family that goes back for generations.
