I got married to my husband because I knew he’s the right person for me. Love wasn’t there but Alhamdullillah I fell in love with him and now we are living happily ever after. 😊

@Sidra wow. That's incredible. Completely opposite of how the current western culture does marriage. I think it makes alot of sense though. Marrying for the external reasons (looks, money, status, etc) will always run its course eventually but purpose and God will unite eternally

Purpose of marriage:
Looking for Peace/calm (not because you love that person) - when talking to them, you feel calm, tone down. There is peace

A lot of wife, unfortunately stay in abusive relationships. Sure, a part of it is your brain playing you and because you are at a very vulnerable situation you can't really decide clearly for yourself. But think about it for a second, the thinking of "look for love" is what breeds this sad misfortunes, most of the time. Thankfully, there are absolutely beautiful relationships out of this mentality but we can't really deny that majority of them are unfortunate.
Therefore, look for peace. And let love unfold naturally.

This hit at the core of my marriage/divorce. We didn’t bring each other peace. I would always say “he prays, goes to Hajj and has done multiple umrahs, is good person..” but the anger management issue was a red flag since before marriage and I chose to ignore it. 20 years later, 4 children, and divorced. Wish I had this concrete advice before. Listen to this lecture youngsters! And May you find peace in your current (or future) spouse.

Hy , can you tell me one thing ,,, if a person has anger issues so do i not marry him? If yes then here in Pakistan about 99 percent men have anger issues bcz here it is considered men's right and unchangeable thing ... In these circumstances I'm not going to marry anyone then?

my question: im currently talking to someone and as far as i could understand, he is a good, calm and cool headed person overall. however, he struggles to say his obligatory prayers. this is why i am a bit hesitant. what would you advise me to prioritize regarding this person?

I was married at age 24 to someone I knew was wrong for me but due to family pressure I gave in. He had mental illness that was not disclosed until after marriage when he could no longer hide it. But I felt bad to leave until I was abused in many ways so I left. I hope young people who get married only marry for the right reasons and do not do this just to please family and meet certain age expectation.

Brother Nouman is right, the purpose of marriage is gone when there’s no peace in it. I can attest to this through my personal experience. Lack of peace ended my marriage. May Allaah have mercy on us. This life (dunya) is for testing us by God. It’s not perfect. May Allaah forgive us and grant us his paradise in the afterlife (akhirah), aamiin.

This really describes what I'm going through.
I was planning to marry a man that I loved too much. The problem was that there was no matching in our communication. We couldn't even understand each other, so after thinking of the fact that I will not find peace in marrying him I just decide to cancel everything.

Absolutely beautiful ,i didn't hear about it earlier but in my experience after getting into this love thing for a long time(exhausting ) I'm convinced on love might not bring peace even more drama .....and you can live more soulful life with a person who doesn't say" i love you" ,but they're respectful to you and it's peaceful to be with them ❣️

I love listening to Norman Ali and I appreciate his wisdom and guidance so much. This is the best guidance I have ever heard about marriage and it is explained so well. I wish I had heard this ages ago. Allah has given us the exact tools and guidance we need when choosing a spouse and yet so many of us are not aware of it. I once heard someone say, when you make a difficult decision and you are not sure it was the right one, observe how you feel after you make it. If you feel peaceful, then you know it was the right decision. May Allah grant us all peaceful and loving marriages 🙏🏽.

Whenever i listen any scholars lecture it make peace n it jas ans of my question ...im single umarried but i alwys have a fear of arrange marriages cz apko sari duniya rishtea dar rishte lagne vale agents ek tasweer le ayege pasand h ha bolo nai bolo ...then shadi fixed hogyi then puri zindgi compromise ...vo insan ko smjhne mai ouri zindgai lg jaye or shdi k bad malum ho ki he is not my typ or may b im not his typ ...only compromise for whole life ...
