    Hey folks, Warehouse Bonaire did a nice remodel to their produce/baked goods/freezer section in 2020 (or '21). It's much larger and nicer now!

    When we stayed in Bonaire we could walk to Tops, we stayed 3 weeks and only rented vehicle 1 day a week so having Tops in walking distance worked for us. Surprised you didn’t show it, although these look much brighter and more options it may give some comparison. Great video.

    Zhung Kong up by Kaya Diamanta can work well if you’re staying around Sabadeco. The store is recently remodeled. They can be limited in fresh foods.

    Van den Tweel often has a food cart/vendor out front. Had some amazing churros there last time!

    This, and other Bonaire, videos need to be updated. Regarding bottled water … why buy this waste of plastic … local water is excellent! As for Dutch items, guess what, we are a Dutch island? Also VDT and Warehouse are owned by the same family….

      @jencroy หลายเดือนก่อน

      For me, I love flavored seltzer water. Warehouse has a great selection of good seltzers.
      I do agree that if someone is drinking normal, still water, that Bonaire's tap water is the best! Just bring a refillable bottle with you from home (or I like to refill plastic fruit juice bottles, because I love some of the fruit juices that I can get on Bonaire that are not sold in the USA) and fill it in the sink.

    Liked and subscribed: My favorite place to go are foreign grocery stores. We loved it there and are thinking of coming for six months. Thank you for the great tips. We love coffee which store us the best fir it?

      There unfortunately is not a great option depending on your preference. I personally prefer Caribbean coffees (Puerto Rico, Cuba, DR etc...). I can sometimes find Pilon at Warehouse Bonaire, and can usually find Santo Domingo at Tops Supermarket (formerly Cultimara). Tops is located in downtown K-Town, near the hospital. I've also had good luck at some of the smaller convenience stores (there's one near Divi Flamingo that's also a good choice for bottled water). I hope this helps. Thanks for watching AND subscribing!

      The best coffee can be found at the wine store across from vandentwell. They grind it when you buy it. They have really good olives and salsa there too.

    Have they Matcha? Nuts and seeds?
    Please tell me what mail delivery is like there.
    Isn't tap water okay to drink there? This is what I've heard....
    Thanks Very Much.

    • @KevinandLizGrogan
      @KevinandLizGrogan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nuts are easily found and reasonably priced. I haven’t seen Matcha, but also haven’t looked for it. I am unfamiliar with the mail service times. The water is definitely safe to drink as Bonaire has an excellent water system! Thanks for watching!

    Who is your target audience? VdK "Closest to what you find at home?" I only go to VDK for deli meats, cheeses and yogurts. Their produce is crap most the time - broccoli all limp, measly ginger, almost never have cilantro, and expensive. It all depends on what your looking for so to say vdk is the best all around is bogus.
    Adding to Zhung Kong - they have the best ice cream/gelato selection like Magnums and Ben n Jerry's, and the only place that has frozen White Castle burgers . And one of two places that has kimchee and proper Asian tofu. They also have a better selection of seafood, hard liquor, and sauces than vdk. Ive also found fun things there like pig ears.
    Carniseria Latino is great place to get meats, especially for bbqs.
    Bottles has a better selection of wines.
    Famoso and the Chinese markets by Kooyman are the better places to get produce like ginger, cilantro, cabbage, broccoli, bok choy, onions and garlic. And also for chicken feet, livers, gizzards,bone marrow, oxtail,, and slabs of ribs.

      You make a great point Jessica. Our goal for this video was to show the average vacationer the place(s) they can find most everything they would need for a typical short stay, with the fewest number of stops, involving the least amount of time. I whole heartedly agree that Zhung Kong has great ice cream, as well as good spices/sauces! Liz and I don't mind making several stops all over the island to get what we want, but many folks on vacation just want to quickly grab a few essentials and snacks so they can get to relaxing/diving/kite boarding etc. We didn't mean to give the impression that VDT is the "end all be all," rather provide pros and cons. For me personally, I prefer Warehouse Bonaire. Thanks so much for watching, AND for taking time to provide feedback and additional tips!
