    I hate to be the one Aaron, but there’s a big problem built in!! The lower tiles (the upside down ones) will actually funnel water into the roof. The over lap has to be the opposite way on the upside down tiles compared to the uppermost tiles. Taking the full group and rotating them won’t represent the style of roof very well.
    Love all the content by the way, sorry for the annoying comment!!

    Very cool! Now I can figure out a standing seam roof with no problem

    I went through the same process but scaled along one of the diagonal edges instead of vertically. Thanks Aaron!

    I love your work. Been following you for a while. I still use a very old version of SketchUp - v7. But the same basic techniques that you are showing still apply.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Nice sample !!! Go further and make a connection between two roofs. What would be the best option to make a cut in all this different spanish tiles, like in 90° angle connection, please!!!

    Thanks! This is the type of tiles we have here in the south of France. We call them "Canal" or "Romane"

    Hallo Norman,verry nice done.We call these tils here in Europe " Nons and Monks " but it is a realy old form off a tile.They where used in European soutern countrys around the medeterenian sea. Because it takes a lot of time to install them we have now a more modern form of these tiles and that was the second model you ware beginning. But thanks again it was a great video. I am looking forward how you will design a 4 hip roof.......have a nice day.

    Nicely done Aaron, it looks like you could have used one of the groups as ridge tiles as well to finish if off they looked so good.

    Nice try but there is always a catch on the mediterranean/south europe's roof and, believe me, I know it hurts 😎. In fact the rain water flows on top of the lower row of tiles and the top rows protect the gaps btw the lower rows. That said, in the lower rows, the top tile always drops the water over the lower tile until it reaches the façade plane. I think you forgot to invert (Scale -1 factor) the lower row after it was copied from the top one & rotated 180 degrees. If you look close in minute 5:05 you'll see that the rain water from the top tiles would come behind/under the lower tiles. In a real construction you'd be in serious trouble 🤕. Anyway ist's very close to perfetion.

    Aaron, what was the name of the extension used in this video to change the group to a component?

    hello good morning, from Colombia, I made a model of a house that has a 200 square meter roof in Spanish tile and when working the graphic outputs in the Layout it crashes, closes or takes a long time to load. Is it because of the number of faces that the model has?

    • @Pyrolunam
      @Pyrolunam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most probably. This kind of objects is nice for rendering… in SU and layout you want to use a proxy or even a 2D representation (texture) of such a roof

    Did you notice that the lowest roof tiles are the wrong way around, the rain runs under the roof tiles. Monk nun roof tiles are not only rotated vertically, but horizontally by 180 degrees. They also fit better together because of the trapezoidal shape. Greetings from Germany.

    I am sorry but do you have no shame at all? This is 2023, the era of AI. Aren't you supposed to have a plug-in that helps create roof tile within a few clicks?

    • @SketchUp
      @SketchUp  ปีที่แล้ว

      SketchUp does not create extensions. There may be some out there, but around here we tend to try to teach users how to get the most out of the native tools!

    • @Consice1958
      @Consice1958 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SketchUp Listen. this is 2023. You can command AI to create images from prompts and then create videos from those images. The technology has developed so fast.
      But are you telling me that I still have to arrange the roof tile in Sketchup 2023 manually the same way I did in Sketchup 2018? Really?
      This kind of thing is supposed to be done within just a few clicks.

      @@Consice1958have you found such extension yet? Cos I have a hip roof to add roofing tiles to and I cannot set these tiles in a triangular array

    • @Consice1958
      @Consice1958 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@giftmbanugo3605 I've found an extension called Instant Roof. I've also found that it's less frustration and much more accuracy to just arrange those roof tiles and cut them manually. Well, sometimes you just have to get your hands dirty and AI won't be able to replace humans in this decade.
