  • In this video I show the steps of installing a 4 inch Zone Off-road Lift Kit on my 2005 Ford Excursion Limited Diesel. This lift give enough clearance for me install 35x12.50x18 Toyo Open Country RT tires and Black Rhino Arsenal Wheels. The specific kits and costs are listed below for all components. So far, I really like the ride quality and feel of the new set up. Definitely gives a more aggressive appearance and the capability of the Excursion is better than stock. Hope this video helps anyone looking for advice or guidance in doing this swap yourself.
    Also, at the end of this video I have a special Shout Out to a non profit organization call The Honor Crew. The Honor Crew is a charity that supports Deployed Service Members and their families by doing "handyman" type fixes around the house for those that are deployed. They Protect so We Serve is The Honor Crew motto. I am a member if the Honor Crew and am thankful that I can do a small part to help our selfless service members who are doing a job so many others won't.
    Did you know that there are 1.3 MILLION actively deployed military personnel?
    Did you know that of that 1.3 MILLION, 55% are married and 43% have children?
    Imagine being one of those families whose spouse is deployed and your toilet breaks? Or your fence needs to be replaced? Perhaps if your spouse was home, it would be an easy fix… but they are not. So, it is not an easy fix. Something small becomes big. Something small has the chance to become very expensive.
    At The Honor Crew, we want to take the burden off of the families who Serve and Protect our great nation. We want to serve them. We want to help, to fix, to encourage.
    Every donation keeps the financial burden off of these families. Go to HonorCrew.org to learn more.
    Thank you for watching and God Bless.

    Was looking all over for videos or pics of this Zone lift kit for a Excursion and this is the only one I found. I have a 2000 Excursion with 400,000 miles on it and I wanted the cheapest lift kit for it. I had my doubts about this lift but I ordered it anyways. I couldn’t be more happier with it, it drives and rides better than it ever has. For 500 bucks, you can’t beat this lift. I really appreciate your video and review on this.

    If your GVWR is 9200#, then I highly doubt you’re driving down the road at 10k+. Take it across a scale and get the actual weight of it, I bet it’s closer to 8k.

    • @EpicCars
      @EpicCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. And thank you for watching. On the engine, I have yet to do anything to it other than adding a 250 amp Leece Neville Alternator and the big wire kit from FICMrepair.com. I am a big believer in keeping complex engines as stock as possible until you "have" to repair something or common sense upgrades. The 6.0 has a bad rep but I and other's firmly believe that if you maintain it well and don't add any tuners or boost to the engine you will be very fine and it will last 2-300,000 trouble free miles. Now, I am selling the truck as of yesterday and am loading a video today about why that you can watch in a few hours. Thanks again for watching and the support.

    I'm putting on the same lift on my excursion right now and the rear spring hanger bolt is the toughest part. Did those give you any trouble? Not sure how many miles yours has, mine has about 250k so I'm sure that's why they're so tough..

    • @EpicCars
      @EpicCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don’t remember them giving me any trouble. Do you mean getting the bolts off or is it another issue? Mine has 87,000 miles and is very rust free underneath. Penetrating oil on them helped me. Thanks for watching.

    • @jakedasnake808
      @jakedasnake808 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@EpicCars Yeah, I ended up having to cut off the hangar and bolts and replace the hangars, my bolts were pretty rusty and seized. Makes sense yours wouldn't be problematic given your lower miles.

    How does this kit handle with a little weight on the back? Say, towing a 5000lb cargo trailer?

    • @EpicCars
      @EpicCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I did not have it very long after I put the lift on because I sold it but did tow with it a few times. I have a 22 foot long car hauler and had my Tractor on it and it handled it very well. Essentially the rear suspension is the exact same except for the bigger blocks so no loss in capacity via the springs. I think the trailer weighs around 2000lbs and the tractor probably another 2000 so I would think a 5000lb cargo trailer would be fine. Thank you again for watching.

    question have the 2001 excursion that has been lifted. how do we determine the lift. I am needing to add airbags and need to determine the size of spacer to put in.

    • @EpicCars
      @EpicCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a good question. The easiest way I can tell would be to measure the rear axle blocks. Stock they were 2 inches. So whatever the difference is between Stock and what you have on is the size of the lift. Hope that helps and thank you for watching.

    I have on '02 Ex with the 7.3. Just to clarify, the GVWR on the sticker in the door jamb is not how much the truck weighs. That is the total loaded the weight the truck can handle. Scale weight on mine is right at 8,000 lbs when I weighed it on our truck scales. So to say your trucks weighs over 10k is incorrect. You are closer to 8600 lbs with your tools.

Some of the best race trucks for off-road are actually 2wd and do very well. I would look into a pre-runner kit for a F250. Thanks for watching and I hope that helps.
