    A little Fast Show reference at the end. Very nice.
    For those who didn't understand Mikes reference to vaseline in the oil pump. When fitting an oil pump, pack it as full as you can with vaseline, every square inch. When the engine starts for the first time, the vaseline will lubricate the pump but most importantly, it will create a vacuum that draws up oil from the sump which primes the pump. You now will have oil pressure. (Actually you have flow not pressure but that's another bedtime story.)
    Nice video Mike. Everyone loves to see the first start. the 300tdi was Land Rover's finest hour.

      The turbo wasn't plumbed up either until final fitment so it would be running ritch , perfectly ok for test purposes though

    Hi, is the tool you had made to fit the seal available or perhaps the dimensions for the same. Philip

      I have no drawings - you can work them out as the crank is 100 mm
      The correct Land Rover protector sleeve is 18G 1344
      But being a Rover tool it is not cheap!

    It's remarkable when the engine tried to run before you tightened the injector pipes.
    Should the injector pipes be replaced on old engines?
    Did you build a frame for testing engines?

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did build a frame, but I didn't have space for it in my shop over winter nor did I anticipate this job - so I stuck it on to of a container only access is not possible due to snow!

    im sure you were building a test bench for such things :)

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed - but it is on top of a container blocked by snow!
