      Bought a 2017 Accord V6L. They spec them highly in Australia and they cost more than all Japanese competitors as well as the Passat. When I bought it, the 5 series and E Class of a similar vintage were about $AU 5,000 more expensive, but the refinement of the Honda impressed me more. Everything was built correctly; when you spend $50-60,000 on a Japanese vehicle, they will give you $50-60,000 worth of car.

    • @suzumr2754
      @suzumr2754 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @johnny Macon It usually means you have really good compression or it could be that the motor's internals (specifically the piston rings) were *perfectly* sealed during the motor's break in period.
      It's a good thing, it means your j series is still young on the internals and has less wear overall. You have a healthy J30.
      Just keep an eye on the PCV hose/valve for clogged carbon build up and you'll be alright.

      Bought an 04 coupe today with 256k with the 2.4. I wasn’t hesitant to buy it but it runs and drives perfectly. Has some battle scars obviously but its interior looks brand new and seems to run like a top. I’m hoping its going to last awhile with no problems , my last car drained my account on a bi monthly basis and I couldn’t handle it anymore. This car and engine combo was recommended to me. It’s a $2k gamble so I hope it makes it to even 350, I would be extremely happy.

    I think one thing that impresses me about this car isn't just it's high mileage, but also how well the interior has held up-so many cars these days have such poorly put together interiors.

    • @t.j2881
      @t.j2881 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Such a good point. You can really see the quality of craftsmanship on a vehicle when comparing interiors. This generation accord interiors are top notch. I'm often shocked that our 2003 GMC Sierra work truck was made the same year as my accord. The accord interior looks new, no rattles or proken plastics, the trucks interior is falling apart. Such cheap quality hard plastics in those early 2000s GM trucks. They just disintegrate. I could probably pull the dash out of it with one hand.

      Skoda isn’t bought by vw yet, I think. I bought the hybrid version of this car 7-or-8-years ago and replaced the hybrid batteries not long after that (got LUCKY / had em done @120.K with th WARRANTY! ) & that turned out to be one of the best car buying decisions I ever made . . They only made the hybrids those years ('05-to-'07 ) with the V6s, which is CRAZY COOL,, becuz this car has more [stock] power than any other Accord out there. When U step-ON-it, you get the full power of th V6, PLUS the full POWER of th hybrid battery-pack, to boot ! Every single person I've ever let drive it, their chin's dragging the ground when they come back - they CAN'T BELIEVE how much power it has and still gets 25-to-30 in the city & 35+PLUS mpg on the highway, with the PURE POWER to pass ANYbody else, at ANY speed on ANY road !
    I've got a buddy who does upholstry & I had him re-do the entire interior ( Just so it would be PERFECT ) And th day I picked it up, some douchebag retired-COP ( TEXTING, of COURSE..) rear ended me at a stop light ! Along with my trunk, I was crushed, with th thought that this beautiful car's life was maybe at an end, but when the insurance company wanted to total it, becuz they said it would cost more to repair than it was worth.. Because the hybrid batteries had been recently replaced, & were LIKE NEW ($2./$3,000.-repair..), I refused to accept her 'early demise', & bought it back from the insurance company, fixed the rear end ( bought a perfect used trunk off eBay for $500. bucks ) & I've been driving it DAILY, ever since ! Just fixin to go over 200,000-miles with it, & I don't see any reason why I wouldn't keep this car for the rest of my LIFE.. Runs like brand NEW (on REGULAR, of course..), th A/C's ice cold, starts every time, never been towed, and gets 27-to-37 mpg, everywhere I go ! & as soon as I have time to get her painted, she's gonna LOOK BRAND NEW, INSIDE & OUT . . I'm SURE I'll put half a million, if not A MILLION- miles on her, before it's all over.
    Only advice I have to anybody that gets one of these cars is, if you have the V6 - of course - do the timing belt (& water pump) every 80-to-100,000 miles, while getting the oil changed ( at Walmart for $25 bucks every 5,000 miles- they'll automatically give you Quaker State synthetic-blend 5W20 for that price, these days, believe it or not ! ), & change the transmission fluid every 50,000 miles. The only serious problem I ever had with this car ( turns out wasn't a problem really..) But apparently, the 1st owner of the car never changed the brake-fluid, and when the pedal got a lil' squishy on me one day, at about a 150.K, I took it to the local 'STEAL-er-ship", and they flushed the brake-fluid. But after that,when the brake pedal was STILL a little squishy, they proceeded to tell me I needed a NEW ABS-pump-thingamajig, & told me it was gonna be about a $2,500. REPAIR !!! Fortunately, I didn't buy their BS, & took it to a local Firestone place and had THEM flush the brake- fluid AGAIN, & I PAID THEM th $25.EXTRA, to flush the ABS module.. & guess what ? It worked perfect after that.. So change your brake-fluid out people, EVERY 100,000. MILES ! Only other advice I can give any of you out there, that want to keep a car goin for a long, LONG time, is go to your local Firestone 'shop', th next time you need an alignment and pay them the EXTRA $75 bucks to get a "lfetime alignment', then all the rest of your alignments are FREE, for LIFE..
    HONDA ROCKS

      remember most honda transmission tend to show issues when you are being easy on them like go 0-60 without going over 2200 rpms it will be slow yes but better to be safe and figure everything out before you buy
      I have found that when im accelerating harder on a honda trans it tends not to show any issues.

    Just bought a 98 accord a couple months ago with 171,500 miles on it. So far I’ve only replaced the coolant because I didn’t like the green in it, and the inner drivers side tail light assembly; because water was getting into it. And I put in a new double din touch screen stereo and some brighter LED headlights. She’s purring fine. Starts up damn near immediately.
    I plan to flush power steering fluid, upcoming oil change, and transmission fluid change; maybe need some new brake pads. Regular maintenance stuff, but she’ll run for several more years.

    That’s so awesome to see these high mileage Honda’s. I had an 95 integra in high school and it ran perfect when I sold it with 198k miles.
    Currently I have a 2020 Civic Sport Sedan with the manual transmission and 2.0 K20c2 naturally aspirated port injected motor, I feel it was the most reliable way to buy a 10th Gen Civic. No oil dilution, no CVT, etc.
    Knowing now that it is THE LAST naturally aspirated Civic available with a manual transmission makes me glad I bought it.
    The 11th gens will offer the 2.0 NA motor but will only pair it with the CVT .

    Amazing... Thanks for posting this... You bought a 2006 Honda Accord 510,370 miles on it! - And it still has the Original Engine and transmission.... Incredible - This car speaks a lot for HONDA quality. - Will you use this as a 'Daily driver'? - If you don't mind, i'm very curious to know what you paid for it? Thanks.

      Jay C this is not a daily driver for me. I plan to drive it a few times a week for an inspection business I do. I average 150-200 miles a day those few days out of the week. So I should see the miles increase steadily. I paid $3700 for the car.
      Some say that’s to much for the miles but despite some of the minor flaws it has for that price it was the best example in my area. I went to check it out thinking either it’s going to be total junk or it’s going to be great. Well it really surprised me how good it was so I went ahead and picked it up.

      @@MrNate-wm3mp Great... If you look after it and manage to drive it for another 490,000 miles... (Without 'Redlining' it constantly!)...It's possible. Especially with good maintainence and frequent Oil changes) - IF you keep it that long and manage even close to that, HONDA corp. will want to buy it.
      This 2.4 VTEC engine is supposed to be incredibly robust, reliable and very long lasting. Good luck with it.

      Hesitantly bought one today with 256k on it but it just ran so good. Reading through the comment I’m feeling for more for confident in it. Buying a used car with that many miles is always scary so I’m hoping this one works out for a couple years! I paid 2k, has new tires and belts and is fully loaded black leather that looks brand new and heated seats, etc. Not the prettiest girl at the dance but really not bad either. The silver hides a lot and every single thing works. The gasket around the sunroof came loose but I think I can get it back in. Anyways, I hope it was a good buy. I can’t afford another money pit like my BMW. Makes pretty driveway decoration but has been a nightmare. Just put in a new tranny at $2900 6 months ago, whole new cooling system, new coil packs, and now the head gasket went on it. With purchase price I’m over 8k into it in less than 2 years. Every time you think it’s the last thing you’ll have to fix something else happens. My wife had one just like it years ago that never gave us problems so I thought it’d be ok. Car number 2 and 10 grand later I wish I would’ve just bought something new lol. Hopefully the Honda treat me better.

Only thing i'm worried about is the trans, but according to the seller, it has received good care with on time trans fluid changes. It does have the dreaded rear main seal leak but a little AT 205 and it don't leak a drop. If I ever end up replacing the clutch I'll replace that at the same time, great cars. For me though I would avoid the automatics cause of all the research says no bueno, but I've heard other people say they haven't had a problem.
