Fabulous video, even though I'm not born in 1965. You can still see the traces of the past even now. Some examples are the paramount buildling which had been torn down last year to make way for a new one and the steps along portchester ave at 4:34 - 4:36 which still exists till now. Check out the Paramount Supermarket (NTUC) built during the 70's at "Serangoon Garden NTUC".
I lived at 63 Chartwell Drive March 68-May 68 then to Burliegh Drive 74 i think opposite the school until Sept68 then to 254 Bedok Road till March 71 Great times thanks for down loading.
Lived in Serangoon Garden Way 68-71 from memory. Last house next to the Chinese doctors place & opposite the Chinese Christian church. The gharries used to stop right in front of our house. Medway Drive was where the MO was yes? Used to go there for the 6 monthly Cholera "jabs" ouch! No Nee Soon Wat's, Captains Cabin, Canberra Hotel? Was back there again 2 years ago (4th time) & boy have things changed! Also anybody else who was in the Seletar Kingfishers swimming team? Great time to be a "Forces Brat" back then! :- )
David…I need to ask you what house you lived at on Medway Dr? I lived at #44. My parents rented in from 1971 to 1976. My parents celebrated their wedding in said house. I was born at Dr. John’s clinic a couple of blocks away in 1972.
Anyone who views this video may not be aware there is an excellent facebook group "Memories of Serangoon Gardens in the 60' 70'3 & 80's" facebook.com/groups/gardenites/ The group is private, so you have to ask to join before being able to view the contents. There are numerous old photos and it has proven to be a great meeting place for people who have a common interest in the area in that era.
