@@AFGuidesHDyeah, I see what you mean. I agree that BG3 deserved to win, but outside of that, I’d say that any of the nominees (and a few games that weren’t even nominated) could be the winner and I’d be pretty happy.
I don’t know what it is about Game Awards orchestra medleys, but hearing the music arranged like this gets me emotional for some reason. Maybe I’m just happy to see the best in the business getting acknowledged.
I agree. And they clearly go through so much work for these arrangements. When the camera cuts to the guy playing the keyboard, his sheet music says "PERF GOTY Medley v6.03." That means they went through AT LEAST 6-10 versions to get it right
Lourne Balfe did a fantastic job arranging the medley this year, the TOTK moment made me tear up haha. I am sad it didn't win, but I am glad it got its moment in this medley to shine
If anyone is curious, I'm pretty sure these are the song names from each game they used. Yötön Yö - Alan Wake II Main Theme Part 1 - Baldur's Gate 3 Overworld Theme - Super Mario Wonder Witness The Power - Krauser - Resident Evil 4 Main Theme - The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Greater Together - Marvel's Spider-Man 2
@@JustADude-b4y Thanks! I'm amazed at how they managed to take a song that is somewhere between a ballad and a lament and make it one of the most heroic and uplifting parts of this medley. It's not at all the kind of music I would normally enjoy, yet I am kind of obsessed with this part. Incredible work.
@@UseBefore2007 It really is fantastic. I'd hoped they'd pick it cause it felt to me like the song that most intersected the two stories in the game, and they did not disappoint.
my sleepy ass fell asleep twenty minutes before the orchestra, i'm so glad there's people like you who upload the orchestra at such a nice quality so quickly 🙏
The way they used the piano made up for it imo, felt pretty faithful to how complex the arrangements are in a lot of the TotK tracks. Also the different style of percussion from the original was really cool
I was happy to see TotK win best action/adventure at least. It's my personal pick for GotY but I haven't played BG3 and I can only imagine what that's like given all the hype around it these last few months.
@@LOBOTOMINIZER i mean, wasn't the first time. 2017's game awards had Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the wild (The Latter winning GOTY). Safe to say, yeah truly a great year
@@LOBOTOMINIZER Yeah, it reminded me of Elden Ring last year in the way seemingly everyone I know but me was playing it. When a game is that insanely popular, I have to accept that it's for a good reason and deserves whatever awards it gets, even if it's not for me.
I cant be the only one that thinks that the music category is super overlooked. It would be amazing if they used this great orchestra to showcase a song from each nominee throughout the night. The music in a game should be a top tier award imo.
Hard disagree. Each theme has very distinguishable pacing and notes, the transitions are smooth af, that's true (but well done) however the tracks themselves are very different. Maybe it's a problem with your audio device?
@@Cruiser_TV he's probably saying in comparison to the previous orchestras, 2018 and 2019 for example, that had game ost's with completely different melodies and tempos right next to each other but with seamless transition, like Sekiro's low key japanese ambiance going right into Resident Evil's fast beat Saudade rendition. In this year they did good too but I understand that you don't have the past orchestra's "feel" in this one

Eiji Aonuma…right at the end of the video he seems bothered by something and seeing a man that made my childhood by producing Zelda and my love for the Zelda franchise makes me angry. TOTK deserved GOTY. A game that touched me emotionally deserves it more.
Dunno why but over the years of listening GOTYmedleys, this ones sounds the weakest of all. Anyways, kudos for their efforts for bringing masterpieces every year.
Every time the camera cuts to the flute guy he's conjured a brand new wind instrument from thin air
Well he's been there for years
I love that guy sm
This was one of the most competitive years of gaming we've had. All these games deserved to win
I mean, it wasn't too competitive since Baldur's Gate 3 blew it out of the park so hard. But without BG3, sure any of them could win.

happy to see they moved Pedro Eustache ( "flute guy" ) to the front row!! as he deserves!

That contrabass flute player is JAMMIN OUT at 2:26. So glad to see he's having a good time :D
he was there last year too. one of the highlights, honestly.
Flute guy my beloved ❤
I haven't played as many of these this year, but between TotK and SM2, the arranger understood the fuckin assignment
As someone who's played Baldur's Gate 3 I can add to this sentiment, the composer made sure to include the most important bit!

I can't believe they did not do Tears with the saxophone.

Not sure if the sax is used for more than one measure in the main theme, i think it’s a background instrument
As a Zelda fan I hoped for the legend of Zelda too win but baldur's gate 3 also deserved to win goty so congratulations baldur's gate 3🎉
great year for gamers.. not to mention Nintendo had 2 freaking games in the GOTY category!! but true BG3 was something else man gratz to all nominees

Loved the arrangements paying respect to each game's theme
The transitions to each of the games always gives me goosebumps it’s always so friggin seamless. I love it

That’d be awesome, do a winner’s orchestra, and then do one for all of the GOTY nominees, I’d love if they started doing it next year
Flute guy going overdrive!
They saved the best for last with Spidey.
Flute guy is back
Everybody talking about ToTK, but for me, the transition between AW2 to BG3 is just phenomenal
The spider man 2 part 🔥
2:17 that smile on glasses face, that's satisfaction smile
I LOVE IT
salute to the flute guy
is that melody downloadable in good quality somehow?
My favorite part was the mario wonder part how about yall?
Alan wake 2
🤩Resident Evil 4 and Marvel Spider-Man 2🤩

Oh yeahhhhhh
Baldur's Gate 3 overkill!
Flute guy upped his game
As much as i lke this, this years doesnt even sound different between games, not like previous years... knda sad.
don't they use the same beat/ tune in every medley ?
Sure there's the game themes in the background but it just sounds the same to me
@@AFGuidesHD 2018 Is such a great example of diff tempo AND beat.
They went from Mario Wonder to Resi 4

Why would Aonuma be bothered at something? This man won already with the first game AND he won at least one award this year.

🤣🤣🤣

nah I think this was a step up from last year, though still not as good as past years
I agree, Alan Wake 2 and Spider-Man 2 were the only standouts
Nah this one was the best one by far. Only song I wished they did different was RE4. I was hoping for a badass remix like they did in 2019 with RE2
Mario Wonder and Spider-Man 2!!!
