    Nice fish, its all kicked off this last week. Some really nice cod coming off the shore. They've arrived late but better late than never.

      Definitely bigger fish moved in this season then last one. i've seen 8lb come out the river last week and some good 4-6lbrs. Thanks for watching.

      @@Masterfisherman No problem, Enjoy the vids. Btw, hooknose/Pogie yes I see now having looked. Could easily be mistaken for Gurnard. Very similar looking fish, Hard to distinguish when the skin colour & fins have been digested away.

      This guy caught 5-6lbr this evening next to me, he gutted it and it had 4 of them in the tummy 😱 unusual species for the river! I've done a little research about them and they usually lives in North Sea, mainly norway coastlines and in the winter months they go as deep as 200 metres.

      @@Masterfisherman Maybe those Cod came down rom Norway then mate, I dunno how long it would take to digest them or how fast Cod can travel with the weather and tides but the Cod come down from there so maybe they come with them... Either swimming or in their bellies? lol Either way, It's interesting!

    Great to get your 1st cod of the season,, the small fish that was coughed up was a pogge fish , I gutted a 4lb cod from Mariners wharfe and found one in the stomach took me a long time to find out what fish it was ,good luck with the next session

    The spat-up fish is a pogge. It is a member of the cottid family (bullheads).

      Thanks for watching, under 8m tide you can fish 3 hours before high and 1 or 2 hours after high but when the tide is over 9m you will struggle to hold the bottom once the tide ebbing, so on 9m tide get there 3-4 hours before high water and pack up at high water 👍🎣

      @@Masterfisherman im new to sea/river/estuary fishing, I'm mainly course, so I have little experience compared, but could you also tell me, giving your knowledge if you can eat the fish from the mersey, which fish, does it depend on tide incoming/outgoing ? And also is it better further up towards the mouth of the river than near seacombe/liverpool. Is mercury too high in the fish? Sorry, a few questions there but I'm sure some subscribers may want to know. Me included. Thanks

      @@deanotaggo9788 clean fish are fine to eat as long as they are in size,. The mercury is worse in the docks than in the river. Theres huge water cleaning plants on the mersey, getting better every year! . It looks like eastham slab to me. Some nice cod and conger coming out there the last 7 days. Mouth of the river isnt fishing well for cod. Seacombe and further is better. Need that snaggy ground for cod round here!!

      You probably won't get onto that platform if you have mobility problems but there are plenty of more accessible spots in that area.
