G man has 4 TD passes of 20+ air yards over the last 2 years. Carr has 28. G man has had 3 top ten defenses 3 of the last 4 years. Best D Carr had was the No 20 and worst was 32. In the last 5 years the Raiders have given up 200+ points more than the 31st ranked team Atlanta. Carr 217 total TD passes. G man 87. McDaniel's record as a head coach 18-31. Carr has a .444 wining % in his career with worst defense over that time frame. When you say upgrade what you really mean is I did not look into this subject as much as I should have so forgive me for acting like I know what I am talking about.

On the Pro Bowl topic they should go back to the format from 1970-2009 which the pro bowl was after the super bowl. I loved the pro bowls growing up as a kid. Every single player on the field was a Top tier player.

Why does no one see that when the Raiders even have a kinda decent defense Derek has succeeded. Both his playoff appearances came when the D could actually get a few stops per game. Period. Take away the middle or the field, force him to throw deep, take away his initial read, and don’t let Deebo go 60 on a screen and what’s left over is him….I wish him well

Pretty sure Jimmy G wasn't the reason why that SF team went to the Super Bowl. He had comfortable ride on the back of that defense and running game on that Super Bowl run.
He had 8 passes on that NFC Championship game. Raheem Mostert had 220 yards and 4 TDs. Defense had 3 sacks and 2 picks. And remember that Superbowl game? When he couldn't make a single play on that final drive? Oh yeah we remember.
If anything, Jimmy was the one who held back that 49ers team from winning the Superbowl.
The Raiders just wanted to make a move for the sake of making a move. They didn't cash in on other options and took what was out there.

At the price they paid for Jimmy G, they can still draft a QB -- perhaps a project.
Let's have this conversation after this season Carr has an excellent defense in N. O. not to mention Carr is going to Revitalize Michael Thomas' career just like he did with Crabtree and Nelson Anghlor.
Jimmy G is a stop gap for us, while we (hopefully) draft a QB in the draft this year, and develop that player into our (again, hopefully) franchise QB.
This conversation is why Joe Gibbs was an incredible coach for his day and age! He did it with different qbs each time!
And with castoffs as well. No Elway. No Montana. No Marino. No Kelly. No problem. What Joe Gibbs did with his QBs is pure coaching. Look what he did with Dan Fouts as the OC in San Diego.
Niners won because they had the #1 ranked defense & top running game. Jimmy consistently let me down and we would end up with field goals way to often. Robbie Gould became the best kicker cause Jimmy couldn't score, panics in the pocket, and good luck getting him to throw farther than 15 yards.

I think Garoppolo & Carr are both in that “Can win a Super Bowl with them but need to build a great roster around them to accommodate them” category. If you swapped their teams the last 4 years Carr would at bare minimum have the same postseason results in San Francisco as Garoppolo, while Garoppolo would’ve struggled with the incompetence of the Raiders front office like Carr. They are both solid QBs.

Jimmy’s had a defense most of his career where Car hasn’t. On top of that there was little to no dysfunction with the 49ers and Patriots when he was there. Overall I think Car is the better QB that played on a worst team. Hoping he does well for the saints
