Hi! We are homeschooling through summer. Touching on things he wants to do that we didn't have a chance to, like cursive, and Spanish.

I homeschooled my 3 boys (they're now adults, my oldest son is with the Lord 3yrs now 😢), but they learned the most when I didn't make them "school". The best learning especially for boys is to just let them learn, explore & work on their own timing. Yes, my boys had to do some book learning but we used the Charlotte Mason approach & they enjoyed the learning (even though they didn't enjoy reading books). I do miss my boys being little & I really miss my oldest son. Just enjoy being with your children & learning with them because one day it will be gone & all that will be left will be your memories. All 3 of my boys worked at full time jobs when they were 14yrs old, they are now 24yrs & 23yrs old (my oldest will forever be 25yrs old). Yes, letting them play is good but instilling good work ethics in them is good as well. Trust in the Lord & love your family- treasure every moment that you have with them 🙂

I just finished The Neverending Story book again. I highly recommend it if you haven't read the book yet

I am planning some themed weeks sort of like ‘shark week’ . One I am planning is a Chocolate week. we will read willie wonka and the chocolate factory, do a history study of chocolate, geography study of areas around the world where cocoa beans grow, some science experiments and taste testing.

Love all these ideas! My oldest is only 5 but we’re starting some nature art and I was thinking we might do some animal research projects together 🥰

I love the monthly check list idea 😊 what age do you start using the research notebooks? I think my 8 year old would enjoy this but curious what you suggest.

We'll finish our current school year at the end of May. My plan is to take June off then start up again in July. We're going to break from our usual Charlotte Mason curriculum and try more unit studies and interest-lead learning. I'm also going to try out homeschooling my friend's son in July.

@@IntentionalHomeschooling my oldest is 8, and the friend is 12 and has been in public school the entire time. If things go well, he'll stick with homeschooling. If not, he'll be able to start up with public school on time.

Hi Chantel! I love your summer plans and I think this will definitely help them with independence! We could use some of this in our homeschool! ❤️ I’m curious, how has your recent change in screen time been working out? Have your kids started regulating their own screen time well? I love the idea of our kids learning to manage their time, so I’m praying it helped yours manage better!

I'm hoping to do an updated blog post sometime next week on the screentime situation!
