Todd is still running his figure company like it's the comicbook industry from the 90s . Lots of stuff no one wants and limited edition stuff everyone wants . I don't know what his people are thinking.
Depends on how you look at it. Up to several months ago, plats shared the same UPC has the reg so they've Def have seen a spike in sales . Genius move. I believe the 1st non Variant plat was the DKR Catwoman and they saw that every platinum they put out is an instant sell out. Don't think they'll stop, but they'll definitely either increase the production or sell more directly to the consumer via his website. Retailers are loving the foot traffic he's created
I really hope they slow down with platinums, honestly there are some I would rather just pay for than have to end up winding up buying it through another seller charging double the retail price. The moment he announce those original three figures that could've been easily solo releases or hell even a store exclusive, but instead made them platinum editions which rub most of us the wrong way. I remember we use to complain about them artist proof platinums, but at least with those we didn't have to worry about a complete different figure entirely. No matter how they approach this concept of chase variants you're correct with that one point. Producing more won't solve the issue, pre-orders for regular figures already sell out for some and takes them time to have more stock back up.
I prefure head sculpts that pop in the ball joint but wow i am impressed on how Mcfarlane is trying to upscale and improve his product. Much props to him.
I prefer when the figures come with a complete head like the Conner Kent figure, these figures that only change their faces over time and the face starts to fall off or come loose on its own.
@@bmacster1985 he did when people told him to not make more artists proof figures, he also did when people told him not to do side eyes on the figures..
@@jayger1018 maybe so, but as long as people seek out and buy the platinums I think he will continue to make them, also he has been doing that, buy a case of 6 figures and the platinum is guaranteed, that helps with sales. The amount of money mcfarlane can save/make buy putting a simple repaint and on a platinum and the reselling it is why there are so many platinums coming out. I love mcfarlane and always will but I think he is a greedy dude who is out to make as much as possible as fast as possible, in a way I don’t blame him because the DC Multiverse thing is a contract. It’s never a guarantee that he will continue to have it. I do hope your right I like it better when platinums were a little more scarce between new figures, like right after he stopped doing the artist proofs for dc multiverse. Now it seems like every wave he comes out with has platinum variants. He did the same thing back in the mid 90’s and early 2000’s with 2 - 3 different color variants for multiple figures with the same sculpts
It would be great not to have new characters as Platinum Chase figures like the Question . I totally agree with you . I feel if you’re doing a character like Electric Superman or Azrael in Bat Armour do a 50/50 split in production in the red and blue colour schemes instead of making them difficult to find Platinum Chases. The last line of Platinum Chase figures oddly enough have been easy to find in Canada but this is a first as Platinums are next to impossible to find here.
Hascrap has done this on hascrap pulse and mcfartlane is doing things with the craptinum series. It's like these two games are trying to outdo each other in attempts to confound the collectors and screw up up the skew # bering😮😃🤔
There was a rumor about him a long time ago the crazy thing is that there was some other stuff included there that has come out this year such as Lobo motorcycle, and Batman beyond vehicle (sorta confirmed by McFarlane)
I love platinums if you don't like it don't buy it. Why trying to eliminate something because you dont like it. Why is a problem? There are people who love them. People dont stop thinking on themselves. Trying to sabotage other peoples collections.
@@MR.WiseGorilla why is it a problem? 2 reasons Limited distribution and scalpers. Why make a figure such as Manhunter that is an army builder a platinum? Why not make it available for everyone? But imagine how much more they would feel they could charge if they sculpted the hair three times in one box.
@@Josh-rj2ux Really well thought out friend, I hadn't thought about it that way, but they could make the hair loose that could fit on all three heads.
He's been borrowing ideas from over seas manufactures from the shoulder rings, to the crotch/ joints articulation . This seems to be the next step

It’s because the new collectors edition wave is terrible and no one wants wants them! Lmao, I passed on 4 chase figures this past weekend.

Either way, faceplate or head sculpt, they are still good looking figures
i dont think you have seen other companies head sculpts, mcfarlane cant even come near to Marvel Legends face sculpting
Actual headsculpt would be better but it's probably a money saver

Kind like what neca does with their scream figures
