Fiona Kennedy's album "maiden heaven" is absolutely awesome, it has been my favourite cd for about 10 yrs and have been waiting patiently for her next album or have i missed it
This is ASTOR MO CHROI written by Brian na Ben Ben who spent 17 years in Prison from/by the English who started in 1066 to occupy the lovely Ireland. It is about IRELAND love this song and perform it myself so beautiful
You're right, it is about Ireland, but I always thought it is the lament of a girl whose lover now resides across the Irish Sea while she remains in Scotland. She hears rumours of him pursuing other girls, but refuses to believe the gossip, etc, and begs him to return to Cnoc-an-Duin. A Stór Mo Chroí (Treasure of my Heart) is a different song altogether, written as you say, by Brian O'Higgins, who used the tune of Bruach na Carriage Báine (again, a different tune to this one).
Two of the top female celtic singers singing in harmony. It doesn't get any better.
Still brings tears
Beautiful Singing ,a lovely duet keep this going with Callum's Songs
Good Luck Gavin
