Our Wandering Black Swans Rescued

We have had to rehome the three young swans this weekend for their own safety. Dawlish Waterfowl and Dawlish Town Council made the decision to do this after we found them at Coastguards Cottages on Exeter Road on Saturday morning. ‪@BeachCamsMan‬, Angie Weatherhead and Joe, the waterfowl warden, ushered them back down to the lawn, but after weeks of wandering the streets, it was deemed safer for them to be rehomed.
Their new location is ideal and, more importantly, away from traffic.

Thank you for showing the rescue- yes they probably think they’re folks! Very confusing for them and they were bound to meet a dog somewhere on their wanderings eventually. I’m glad you found a suitable rescue home for them

Well done but what's to stop them going back to where they were before or are you hoping they'll like the new place better than the old one like the penguins at London Zoo did when they were moved temporarily while their old purpose-built home was rebuilt?

Maybe for the future that when any are hand reared the humans wear a swan outfit so they don't imprint the birds that we are good company. It's done with captive breeding programmes for endangered species so they can be safely released back to the wild.
