- I take you to the 2024 Miami International Boat Show to give you all the sights and sounds. I give you a full walk through of a 2024 Lagoon 51 sailing catamaran and a 2024 Aquila 54 power catamaran. I give you a look at some of the new tech like the Selden synchornized furling system, as well as a look at the Island Spirit 525e.

Love the Miami Boat Show. Sailed out of Diner Key back in 76, It was paradise! The Boat Show was at Coconut Grove back then. All I cared about was the beautiful sailboats so easy to navigate. Thanks for the tour Bobby.
Whilst I may not have the budget, I've enjoyed looking at many boats and yachts over the last 20 years or so. I think one of the most interesting has to have been the Privilege 745. With a massive galley down, complete with dinette, and then an amazing open plan, master cabin centre forward, complete with bathtub and shower en suite.
Then there's also the likes of the larger Lagoons (galley down), and Sunreef power 60.
Also like the trawler yachts, because of the range they have, like Outer Reef 900 and Grand Banks.
For sailing yachts, Discovery or Oyster. Impeccable quality.

Loved the setup on the Aquila 54. The master cabin was so spacious! I'd hate to see the fuel bill on that sucker.😢
It had Cummins power so if you could afford it you probably wouldn't care about fuel costs.
Egads! Bobby, after months of seeing Amanda in every video, this felt like a stark cold-turkey cutoff! I would gladly trade the enhanced music for Amanda! Even a frame or two!
Wife reminded me the other day it had been one year since we were at the '23 Miami Boat Show. Had a great time (right before heading out on a cruise) drooling over fantastic boats.... that I can't afford 🤷♂️.
This year we didn't make it to a boat show..... instead spending a day before our cruise scouting homes for our move south (from MN).

Love the Miami Boat Show, we stayed 4 days so didn't mind the transportation between the display.

Sick intro. Why am I watching from the snowy north instead of walking the show?
I went last year and really enjoyed myself. The biggest downside for me was the cost of hotel rooms in the city. I ended up paying over $300/night and it still took me an hour to commute each way to the show. It's amazing how much stuff they have there. I was a little disappointed with the sailboat section. There wasn't anything indoors, everything was just lined up in small individual shelters on land across from the single pier. To see indoor displays you had to go to the convention center or the big tent near the superboat section. The evening parties were a lot of fun.

Interesting that purple cable is actually a “Profibus” communication cable, a standard communication protocol used in industry. Pretty amazing that it’s used on a sailboat.

@4:30 Both of those beds pull out to form a full queen size. The side cushion follows the mattress when you pull it out so both are horizontal.

So much for doing your own maintenance under sail. So much electrical and technical your going to need a expert to do any repair. I like old school better. Things you can fix yourself. Like all the new stuff, designed to fail, need special tools and a tech guy to help

Great video and boats.. This all makes me want to cry.. what did I do wrong.. Lol
I have had two sailboats ( 44 &58 ft ) with Leisure Furl in-boom furling. This is a New Zealand product licensed by Forespar in the US. This product is more commonly installed on larger sailboats. It allows for a fully battened, full luft sail. The sail can easily be reefed at each batten with all management done from the cockpit. Unlike an in-mast furler, it is impossible to jamb.The other advantage is that the sail can be dropped to the boom should there be sea malfunction. There is a sail cover that rides in the top of the boom. I only had one failure in 40,000 miles when a worn plastic shieve cut the furling line but the sail could be rolled up manually using a winch handle. I’m surprised that I don’t see modern catamarans. It may be because of price as if I remember correctly it was a 20,000 upgrade over in mast furling on the larger boat. I would never have an in-mast furler on my boat and have experienced that setup on boats I have chartered over the years I have sailed.
Any American manufacturers with layouts that standup to the Aquila?

I wish I could go but I can no longer walk that far. I used to live on boats and had a 19 foot ski boat but I am not sure with my health I could do it anymore which really sucks.
Six cabins and FOUR HEADS!! You're not sailing, you're glamping on the water! Certainly NOT made for voyaging of any distance, or without a convenient grocery and drinks supply.

Agree about the Miami show being too spread out and taking too much time to get around. A lot to see yes, but a pain. We thought the Ft. Lauderdale show was more enjoyable for that reason alone.
