Everyone has their own opinions. But I feel in my opinion it's a pretty good looking EV. This I.D. model type has a much more lively, serious yet reserved type of design it's offering. With this I.D. it looks more like a performance vehicle like the Polo, Golf GTI, and especially the R. The price is what attracted me even more for all that this wonderful piece of innovation is offering. Spectacular vehicle. Thank you for doing a video that fast since the livestream. 😁👍👍👍
It looks great! My car has been a Golf MK4 that I've owned for 20 years and this could be my first BEV. It's so refreshing to see a new BEV launch that is not a bloody SUV. Only 2 buttons on either side of the steering wheel controls? That seems an oversight. Seeing as the buttons are real buttons then an extra two on the top of each side would double the usefulness

Nothing really bad about torsion beam, I had it in my company car Focus and I drove that car pretty “enthusiastically “ and you wouldn’t have known. Great car to drive. Granted, this was on smooth Swiss and German roads.

Anticipate the turning radius to be like the e-Golf. This is an MEB+ of the e-Golf @ a 2-door. So it is 1/2 way between an e-Golf & a Polo... Expect this to be a Europe only car.
Not a chance in hell we get this in North America. Regarding regen FWD vs RWD, it's true. I own a Soul and an Ioniq5. You cannot keep the Ioniq5 in i-Pedal if the road is slippery. That's why they've put a Snow Mode on the Ioniq5. Regen then is at 1 max. You can keep regen at 3 on the Soul without issues.
tesla will already have model 2 in the streets by the time VW will show the first production ID2, with miles ahead software and tech, and charging network. What are you talking about?
According to some information, the Tesla 2 will cost the same as the ID 2, but since no car is on the market yet, it's best to wait and see. We could see from Tesla's price cuts on the Model 3 and Y that no other manufacturers followed suit. If now VW also considers a significantly cheaper car, we may see a new trend.

@@jonpetter8921 I have a model 3 LR and a cupra born 77 kwh and comparing the tech , software , mobile app etc is a joke , there is no competition whatsoever. The only reason that I have not sold the born is the more compact dimensions and far better turning circle. Other than that , tesla all the way now that they have sorted out their initial issues
Impressive specs considering the price. But I actually like the look of my ID.3 more. (And the RWD) That said, I'm also one of those people that never got warm feelings about the VW Golf and I'm sure those folks will prefer this design.
I was originally all set for getting an Id.3 but with the stupid lead times, vw jacking up the prices, and screwing around with the specs I got cold feet. This really seems like the next gen id.3, I guess I’ll keep my ICE car for a bit longer and wait for this.
I think the refresh ID3 is the last one; and then they'll re name the next redesignd vehicle the Golf. indeed, wouldn't surprise me if this ID2 ends up being called a Polo
Sadly same width than the ID3. All other things suits very well. NICE I'm pretty sure, that the box in the trunk can take a second motor. If this car is available soon enough it might be a game changer for a lot of Golf drivers.
Makes me miss my '16 e-Golf Premium (just means it had better seats and a heat pump) that had ONLY 85 miles of range...but this is so much better. VW would be foolish to not sell it in the US that will change a lot of peoples' minds, the price.

Hi Chris this does look nice and it's got a rear wiper take that MG, would hope that battery tech might have improved in two or three years time to give us longer range in a smaller physical size pack to make a smaller practical every day car for the masses, will definitely be on my list of EVs
Any mention of battery chemistry? LFP perhaps? Looks good, suggest they are aiming at the mass market rather than early adopters and early mass market crowd, if it looks like a Golf and has better performance it could sell very well what is needed in the EV market that seems to be loving their massive SUV EV's well outside of the EU at least.

Great looking car, probably something the ID.3 should have been from the very beginning. The car will be a perfect substitute for a VW Golf. On the other hand, the software quality will be a dealbreaker, and obviously, whether the Chinese will not be able to bring something similar sub 20k €. It also seems to me that the start of delivery in 2026 is a bit late. There is already MG4 on the EU market, and BYD will arrive with its Dolphin. They should have had it on the market already today, and I would not have to worry about their future.
Going from a base battery to the 450 km one (58 kWh?) should not be that much, remember at 200 EUR per kWh current sales price a 20 kWh difference would only mean 4000 EUR aand VW wants to eventually reduce the battery or cell price by 50 % with the unified cells.
Because it's out of date for today nevermind in 2025 possibly as a 2026 model. 😀 I'm glad it will hopefully someday exist though. Vag needs all the help it can get to survive the ev transitionendoftheiceage 👍🏻
Great! It looks good and ordinary people will be able to buy a new inexpensive electric car that already has a decent operating range. But me, jealous of it, I'm still waiting for battery preheating to my ID3.
This is a 5 door car, the rear handles are "hidden" at the windows, like with some other brands. Probably no 3 door version despite the fact that in average less than 1,5 persons use a car.
The ID3 was really "mehhhh". I own a Tesla Model 3 RWD and am really happy with it. But i must say. This ID2all is ROCKINGGGGG. I really love everything about its design its practicallity. Its amazing. VW Polo is very good selling car in Netherlands. This will sell VERY GOOD here in Netherlands. I drive a Tesla and i can say this is amazing. First time im excited about Volkswagen EV. Finally some HOPE from VW.
I really hope this comes to the US, there are no good looking affordable electric cars currently available. Closest thing to this is the Chevy Bolt, but that looks like crap :)

I believe that there's going to be also a next gen ID.3 (MEB+) so it's kinda pointless to compare the current ID.3 to ID.2 that will be on sale in 2026 or so. Maybe!

The design is pretty dull, unlike the ID.3 which I really like and the facelift even better, but other than that it looks promising. It's taller than the Polo or Golf by aprox. 9cm which I believe is the height of the battery pack, so not necessary more headroom.

3:00 AWD regen in VW; Skoda Enyaq VRS can do up to 109 kW regen. That is pretty good. I think VW ID-4 GTX can do the same.
Still weak compared to Tesla, Kia and Hyundai.

Tesla pays like 5 to 6K for the 60kWh LFP batteries.

I like it because it's smaller - not sure if I'll trade my Megane E-Tech for it though. Also the new Renault 5 or Tesla Model 2 to consider.
