I agree, like it's hard to not compare XG to older rappers because they are that good. They are so natural in what they do that they seem like they've been here rapping/ singing like the OGs.
English is their second language so that in itself is hella impressive to be able to rap like that in English.

Tablo has every right to be angry and stay angry. Mans had the whole of South Korean hating him for absolutely no good reason. Basically because he was too good, people refused to believe his education creds and went on a witchhunt. Sending threats to his house and his family. It was wild. He did a collab with VICE called The True Story of Tablo (podcast) if you want to know more, it's really good.

The only knock is that they aren’t writing the lyrics, so if that is your apprehension, I understand. When I heard “show you can” that is when I realized the talent. The Japanese and Korean flowed like water when they were rapping, and I knew that they were truly extraordinary regardless of race, sex, culture or language. They are the best out!

You hit the nail on the head about XG. Japanese is their native language and Korean would be their second language so English is their third language except is only for Maya where English is her second language. But nevertheless their rapping and singing in English is pure fire and pure talent. Imagine being able to spit with their cadence and flow in a second or third language. XG on another level and your analogy about their predecessors like Suga (Yoongi) and Zico et al being like LeBron and they being like Luka is spot on. They are all multiple MVPs in waiting

I was NOT expecting Epik High to curse, lol. But I've become obsessed with XG since Woke Up dropped. I listened to Girl Gang and some other stuff before but now I'm IN LOVE. I have 3 biases but Cocona slays me. I love the badass aesthetic over cutesy all day every day (which is why I also loved 2NE1 particularly CL, etc.).

EPIK HIGH-TABLO has a right to be angry. He was accused of lying about graduating from Stanford and his super high IQ. The entire Korean media slandered him and a group of 100,000 people on social media harassed him for years. His brother was fired from his good job because of the controversy, and his father died during it bc of the stress. TABLO nor his baby and wife could even go out of his house without being attacked. His career was destroyed. And No one believed him even when there was evidence from Stanford saying it was true. Turns out a jealous man in Chicago made it all up and the crazy Korean general public wanted to believe him. I’m sure Tablo’s still recovering mentally. There’s a multi-hour podcast about it on Apple Podcasts. Fascinating.
