Hello Skallagrim, I discovered your videos quite by accident while searching for a matial art to practice for exercise and self defense. I own a couple of katanas, but I have never considered owning a European sword until I started watching you. I do appreciate your tips on evaluating the quality of weapons and your technique studies. Keep up the good work.
Lucky for me, my knife doesn't even have a brand name on it. Nor did the box. Not even a barcode. Basically, nothing to identify it with..... I need a new one.
I run into this kind of crap all the time. I own a Knife Sharpening shop and people come in thinking they have the best damn quality/name brand knife there is. All I need to do is touch the blade material. Most low-quality knives are made with low-quality steel. I can't tell you how many times I have been yelled at for telling someone that their knife is fake.
Where do you live? We don't have any cool shops like this in San Diego, CA and I'd be lucky to find a quality weapon since all shops sell wallhangers now.
My SOG came in a black box, but not similar to the one you show. It has a model number, all of the accessories and I have no complaints on the quality. One giveaway is the lack of a product catalogue. All of the knives I buy seem to have one.
nice video and by the way the last knife you showcased which was the "Gerber" Gold fin the case for it was a similar copy of the spyderco theme which is the red black and white waves. all they missed was the gold wave.
I like the verbal part, but much of the camerawork tends to stress/strain the eyes. I see this same situation/problem on other knife/tool Tube sites as well. I encourage care in moving the knife around quickly/continually on camera. Moving the knife while up close can have a 'motion sickness' or other negative effect for viewers. A stepped/multi-tier display table would be a good thing for your knife/tool display purposes. It would be cool to find some kind of motorized display table that would allow you to slowly, smoothly turn the knife on various axises. More Light, too, is advised. I'd go with LED lights. [Low power consumption, low heat.] As it is, currently, we're not getting any detail in shadow areas; we should get at least some. ;) Your camera was right when it turned on its own illumination unit. Good journey.
Another note on Gerber, I don't think they use that logo any longer; having replaced it with a sword in a shield at some point. So if the date doesn't match the logo, that's another warning sign. Their factory is just a few miles from my place; I should check to see if they replaced their sign as well. Great uploads by the way. I really enjoy your videos about the practicality of weapons used in fiction, and the rescindment of our rights under the guise of public safety. Keep up the good work!
This is a perfect example of how some people using services like Amazon or Ebay can fool people so shamelessly. So many things posted for sale on many types of websites dont have any proper pictures and thats usually my main warning when looking to buy things. Great video and good call on always looking for the barcode!

Yes they do. Many US makers who used to make them in Japan switched to Taiwan due to costs. The general view towards "Made in Taiwan" is not as poor as " Made in China. Cold Steel used to make them in Japan but now makes them in Taiwan but advertises "using Japanese AUS 8 Steel".
Death Bats ***** I think you are misinterpreting what he means. +Gene Sasserky China makes economically, by landmass and head count the biggest part of Asia. So you can stick with that. Just call everything by their countries name and use Asia as China. But never refer any other former Asian Country as Asian. Now you are good to go.
SOG does use that box art, my Fusion Fixation came in with the same box art, but it had the model number and bar code. Also that knock-off cold steel looks like a piece from UC's Honshu series. (in of itself a decent-for-the-price knock off of the cold steel line)
I've got the first counterfeit knife, the 'sog flash tanto', and I'm far from a knife expert but honestly I'd say the knife i own isn't badly made or feel horrible, in fact I think it not only looks fantastic, but feels great to hold. It had a nice weight to the handle and a comfortable and ergonomic design. I had no idea that it was a fake (It was a gift) and honestly that knowledge doesn't change much for me, it's still a nice knife that does what I need it to and looks better than it's genuine name-sake.
hey nice vids i have a few questions the thing is, in my country there are no knife regulations so i wanted to know what i should check when buying a triger knife i saw a few ones very interesting in a used market the blades werent thin but i wasnt sure about the locks

I've been looking at random knife videos on youtube and I came across this one... I have no idea who you are but at the start of the video I swear to god you sound exactly like Sir Hammerlock from Borderlands 2.
Hey Skall, what knife would you recommend on a 20$ budget. I don't want anything fancy, just a strong and durable blade that has nice sharpness (edge?) retention. Something ergonomic would be great, and if it looks cool that's just a bonus. Obviously I'm going for long-term utility, not something to bring to a knife fight. Also, what would you recommend for a knife sharpener that is also cost-efficient and beginner (aka I've only sharpened a knife once and I don't think it was a very good job) friendly?
+Kaiyuni Fixed blade or folding? Opinel knives are pretty good folding knives for cheap. They're very, very basic but have decent steel. Amazon has the No-6, which as a 3 5/8" blade, for $11.95. For a fixed blade, you can't go wrong with a Swedish Mora. You can get the Mora Companion carbon steel knife on Amazon for around $14.00.
+Kaiyuni There are a lot of great knives available that don't break the bank. www.amazon.com/Morakniv-Companion-Outdoor-Military-4-1-Inch/dp/B004TNWD40/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1452386251&sr=8-2&keywords=mora+companion www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TMAWQC/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004TMAWQC&linkCode=as2&tag=skallagrim-20 www.amazon.com/Gerber-Moment-Pocket-Knife-31-002215/dp/B00CQ8F90K/ref=pd_rhf_dp_s_cp_7?ie=UTF8&refRID=1RG807TT3X59RN1KRBT8 www.amazon.com/Ka-Bar-ZK-Kharon-Tanto-Folder-Knife/dp/B004NMZZ4C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452386389&sr=8-1&keywords=kabar+zk www.amazon.com/Opinel-Carbon-Steel-Folding-knife/dp/B000UGYWQM/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1452386809&sr=1-1&keywords=opinel+6 www.hrknives.com/BOM02827--Wintergreen-Folder_p_29393.html www.hrknives.com/BOM02327--Boker-Magnum-Hunchback_p_2187.html www.amazon.com/Gerber-Mini-Remix-Knife-Fine-31-000346/dp/B002RIOJPK/ref=pd_sim_469_19?ie=UTF8&dpID=31olAdle3UL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0Y43ZXQ6WSHPWTTC6FA8 www.amazon.com/Lansky-LKN111-Mikkel-Willumsen-Responder/dp/B00IJ9C8ZO/ref=pd_sim_sbs_200_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=31PsTfinZIL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR114%2C160_&refRID=1BE5PFY2BSQAN90K009S And there are plenty more out there, if you look for them. CRKT, Schrade, Gerber, Boker, and Opinel are all very reputable brands, so go ahead and look through some of their items and see if there's something I didn't list here you like the look of. Obviously, there are a lot more knives out there than the ones I linked to. As for sharpeners, AccuSharp makes a good sharpener for cheap, but it won't put the most amazing edge on your blades. It'll make them functional, but not really much beyond that. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AS8D&name=Accusharp+-+Knife+Sharpener www.amazon.com/AccuSharp-1-001-Knife-Sharpener/dp/B00004VWKQ/ref=pd_bxgy_469_img_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=12T9Y7P712V8HF7JX6WX It's still a handy little thing. I'm glad I own one.
what type of metal is the gerber "gold finch" made out of ? or whats the rainbow effect called ? i am doing some projects with knife making and with metals in general and i am really interested in having rainbow colored metals.i have seen some that are a lighter "chrome/silver" color with the rainbow coloring that looks like oil on water and i cant find anything about.like what its called or how to do it and what metal it is or the type of metal and treatment needed to get the effect, thank you
After all this searching I finally found a trustworthy channel like yours and I would really like some advice on how to identify nicely crafted swords. What I mean is: I have purchased a sword, the seller told me it's good and sharp and not just for decor (I mean come on who would buy a sword just to hang it on a wall and not go for some thrust and slice tests?) so I bought it. Guess what. The sword's handle broke and each time I tried it on something, the blade got more and more blunt. I know swords get blunt but what I mean is it got blunt really fast like on every hit. So I searched the internet to find some guides on how to identify trustworthy swords that are made from "real steel" but I don't trust anybody anymore. So that's why I need your advice, I believe most books and guides are just a scam. I would REALLY appreciate a guide on how to know-the-sword and choose something that is medieval-looking (yeah, us commoners want something cool too :P no offense), can cut through cardboards or bottles and still not be that expensive if possible. If you have already done a video on that just send it to me :D. Thanks a lot, I really hope you reply to this comment.
+Skallagrim All these letal details you know and observe, cause that is your profession. I as a simple buyer, how would I know? Especially that dagger thing with the flipped logo
I need to know something. I have an assisted opening knife who's spring seems to be catching onto something and clacking around if I shake the knife or fold it. It happened after I dropped it accidentally a few times. How bad is this problem? I'm thinking of getting it fixed but I wonder how much the whole thing could cost.
I just want to point out that the SOG box (the SOG-all-over) is an accurate representation of a real SOG box. They did copy that mostly correctly. Not all SOGs come in those boxes, though.
I get any vanilla knife model I want from amazon (spyderco delica, cold steel recon 1, ect) because their price typically is the best. If i want a specific knife or edition in a specific color however I do not trust the pictures or seller descriptions on amazon and will use baldeHQ to know im getting the blade shape and steel I want ect.
go to ebay and look up "sog knife" with it set "price lowest to highest" there's a lot of different knives that say "SOG Flash Tanto" on them, many aren't even tanto blades.
where did you buy the cheap version? Walmart? if yes then walmart has a tendancy to get lower grade items from the company that box looks much like the type of box i would expect from walmart.
i did some research and the cold steel logo would be upside down in that position the only thing they got wrong on the tai pan is the snap button and the there is suppose to be a made in ... engraving under the tai pan logo
I'd suggest leaving budk. Their prices are a tad high and a lot of the knives they carry are basically wallhangers. I've seen some of the exact same good knives they carry cheaper at other places like knifecenter and smokey mountain knife works. (knifecenter's good for brand new releases from companies as they tend to get them rather quickly). The funny thing is even Walmart will carry SOG and Cold Steel for cheaper with cheaper shipping.
I was about to mention how that IS the current logo of SOG, but then I realized this is a few years ago when they changed their box and logo designs. It is easy enough to swap out a knife freon the actual box. Always LOOK at and TOUCH the specific knife you are going to purchase.
Funny that Cold Steel is often copied. Some originals are allready on the cheap side and their fittings quite bad (slightly oblique, inhomogenous coating).
Cold steel have never been good they are that big a name they dont care about the costumers. independent small blacksmiths and metal workers are your best bet. Some metal working companies will happily make a blade for you if you are willing to pay.
I unknowingly bought a half scale version of the fake SOG from dx.com. Turns out that if you scale down the knife to half, all the tolerances scale down as well and the knife is amazing. Shouldn't be possible for the price. It's been removed from dx.com now, but the button clicks like sniper's trigger, the blade lock is a bank vault and there is no play in the blade. Razor sharp. Tried to reorder a dozen but already gone. Downside: exact same blade downsized to 50%.
that's actually how the real SOG boxes look now. all my SOG knives have boxes like that (which are genuine). but on the real ones there are model numbers.
i have a question sorta related to this but do you know a good store to get a reliable box cutter knife i have a basic one i got from the company i work at and it gets dull too easily
Also, sometimes you REALLY cant tell. Theres a case with Spydercos and copies coming from china, for instance the spyderco Spin. If you feel an expensive knife is bad. Google HD pictures of it and compare yours to them !
Nothing. This video was recorded during a break in a store that I worked at back in 2012/2013, so these were not mine. The owner ordered them from a supplier that turned out to be unreliable.
See I got this antique dagger from Fury. I simply thought it looked nice. But it was dirt cheap, like 10 or 20 dollars. It seems to be a genuine Fury knife, but the brand itself seems mildly questionable. Also I should've had my doubts, it was in a glass case with fidget spinners, golden knives, and multi-bladed knives.
I have a collection of around 90 knives from when I was a kid stored in a under bed tub. Well I was young and stupid with a very poor family almost all my old knives are $5.00 to $10.00 Pakistan or Chine or P.R.C. knives. Yeah, junk. Found a few nice German and American made knives but most of the stuff I wouldn't cry throwing out in the trash. That said, I took a chance and ordered a Chinese Katana made in the traditional way. 2 Steels, folded steel, clay forged, ect ect. It was under $200.00 new in auction, and to be honest I can't believe the quality of this. Nice balance, sliced through 4 water gallons with no effort, slices paper like butter, and gorgeous black blade. Even the fittings in the Handle are all very tight and nice. Full Tang, and under the grip is substantial steel. I avoid Chinese made blades anymore, but took a chance on this one and their are some decent blades coming out of China... But it's hard to find :)
It's made the same way with the same metals as the Japanese ones would be, and they are Katana's not the Chinese Dao which is a slightly different design. So it's a Katana just not made in Japan, same as an American built Toyota is still a Toyota even though it's not made in Japan. If I could afford the Japanese ones I would have bought one made from the real masters.
you had me scared I literally just ordered a Cold Steel Paradox from warriorsandwonders a half hour ago, but then I saw it was on your preferred list and I just went PHEW!
With any suspicions about counterfeit anything, the first thing you should of course do is a comparison between the manufacturer's website/catalog and the actual product being sold. With right about any purchase, keep in mind that if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is!
The S Man If you suspect it's counterfeit, don't buy it in the first place. What I meant to say is to check the goods before you buy, especially if the price seems to be too good to be true.
If you notice, the bolt (if you can even call it that) that attaches the blade to the handle is the same piece of shit on each of the fakes. I had a $8 "stilleto" spring assisted knife, and that bolt didn't take long to snap. When you put a real knife in your hand, you immediately feel the difference. Good video.
Quinton Webber Well, it depends on what type of tanto you're looking for. If you're looking for a more traditional tanto, these are both really good, and pretty cheap; www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=RY3046&name=Ryumon+Folded+Steel+Dragon+Tanto+-+Red+Saya www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=DBT02&name=Masahiro+Midnight+Tanto If you're more into the modern 'tacti-cool' (ugh.) type of tanto, or a tanto-style folder, try these; www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=UC3032&name=Honshu+Tactical+O-Tanto www.hrknives.com/BOM02327--Boker-Magnum-Hunchback_p_2187.html While I'm not exactly a fan of the whole 'tacti-cool' thing, the Honshu tactical line is really good. I won't deny high quality just because of personal preference. In fact, the katana from that line is my next purchase for my collection. I own this next one, and it's really good. If you just want something really cheap, or can't afford something better, this one is amazing for the price; www.hrknives.com/M1841--Misc-Small-Black-Dragon-Tanto_p_94.html
Skallagrim, have you ever seen the knife store, BUDK.com? From what I've seen, they have lots of varieties of swords and knives and machetes from different brands. I got a genuine Gurkha Kukri from there once, and it's very nice. I'm nowhere near as educated as you are in terms of the quality of bladed weapons, and I only have a very small collection of knives, but I think you might like BUDK.
Amazon has Cold Steel Recon Ones for like $40-$60 dollars. Considering that the Recon One is sold in the $100 plus dollar range on Cold Steel's website, I was sure that those on Amazon were counterfeits, but what persuaded me was the thousands of testimonies from the buyers that they were not. I bought one off of amazon and sure enough, it was the real deal. An awesome $40 knife that I'm completely happy with. What the true rip off was that Cold Steel wanted to sell them for $100 plus. Its honestly not worth that. That is a complete rip off. Anyway, just wanted to share my story.
'Counterfeit knives'
"Wait a minute...this isn't a knife at all! It's a fork!"
"A used toothpick" xD
lesson learned: if someone tries to sell you a rippoff, unscrew your pommel and throw it at them.
+Ben Thomas On the other hand, if you already have a ripoff, your pommel might come off on its own.
+christosvoskresye lmao
+christosvoskresye thats not a counterfeit. Its just made for ending rightly xD
"slightly different"
Yeah, if you spell "slightly" with 200-point bold italicised Comic fucking Sans.
Samniss Arandeen Made my day, LMAO
+Garcio ツ HAHAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHAHA. HAHA.
Samniss Arandeen best comment ever lol
Bwahahahaha!
I feel like I should start a counterfeit knife collection on purpose. Sounds like fun!
I got one 😀
+Kennethern Entertainment All I collect...If you go to my G+ account, you can check out some in my collections
Hahah that is a great idea!
Good rule of thumb: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Collapze internet, my man.
That last knife has a compromised blade core with that hole in the middle.
The "gerber Goldfinch" package had spyderco's box art as a background to the clamshell
that last one got puked on by a rainbow
You spelled "shat out by a rainbow with diarrea" wrong.
My SOG came in a black box, but not similar to the one you show. It has a model number, all of the accessories and I have no complaints on the quality. One giveaway is the lack of a product catalogue. All of the knives I buy seem to have one.

Gene Sasserky Actually quite a lot of knives come from Taiwan. For instance both Spyderco and Cold Steel produce many of their blades in Taiwan.

The gold finch or what ever looks kinda cool actually
On the goldfinch packaging the card looked like a Spyderco design.
These are good if you want a cheap look alike to add to a collection.

What is it about cheapo knifes and that rainbow finish? feel like I've seen a few dozen $10ish knifes on amazon with a similar look.
I believe it may be something to do with Csgo. I guess it is to entice kids
Minecraftdemon99 They look like shit Idk how a kid would even want one.
your voice is so soothing
I want one of those Gerber Mini-Remix 2 knives.
The Tai-Pan doesn't look bad.
Is it bad if I think the goldfinch is awesome looking?
Did you buy it at a gas station or a county Fair? Caveat Emptor.
That fake sog box actually is very real looking, both my sog knives came in boxes like that. Thumbs up so people don't think they got ripped off!
you should try budk. I've never had problems with them.
I've got the first counterfeit knife, the 'sog flash tanto', and I'm far from a knife expert but honestly I'd say the knife i own isn't badly made or feel horrible, in fact I think it not only looks fantastic, but feels great to hold. counterfeit cold steel? wow theyre aiming pretty high :^)
hey nice vids i have a few questions the thing is, in my country there are no knife regulations so i wanted to know what i should check when buying a triger knife i saw a few ones very interesting in a used market the blades werent thin but i wasnt sure about the locks

The box having Chinglish text could also be an indicator of a fake knife.
And did that last one, the 'Goldfinch', have fake anodizing?
do you have any suggestions on where to get good throwing knives???
I like the colour finish on the last fake do you know any real blades with that finish on them that you could recommend?
Im interested to know how they got that paint/finish on the goldfinch, its so like, groovy man
What do you do with the knives you collect? Do you just store them in the closet for collection purposes? or do you use them?
That's acctualy a very good camera as it seems wich one is it ?
that fake gerber is probably not any worse than the real thing
You're right. Everyone should just buy the cheapest knife available, because different quality in knives is a myth.
woosh
The fake Gerber would be a cheap assembly, low grade materials and dulled edge
Actual Gerber products would be made better otherwise who would buy them? and how would they be a great name if they are cheap?

if you've ever handled an old gerber you'd know they were fine knives. modern ones are made of mystery steel and in my experience the lockup isn't great. People buy them these days because they're cheap and readily available.

This is why I love living near the Spiderco factory outlet/ HQ I just pop in and get what I want and they service my knives/sharpen them for me.
I've been looking at random knife videos on youtube and I came across this one... I have no idea who you are but at the start of the video I swear to god you sound exactly like Sir Hammerlock from Borderlands 2.
Could it be possible that the Tai Pan may be a factory error instead of a counterfeit?
With the scabbard it is could be an experimental one.

And there are plenty more out there, if you look for them.

It's still a handy little thing. I'm glad I own one.
Here is a good company.Spyderco.Very sharp knives.
TacoCatVids
he was asking for knives under $20; I don't think I've ever seen a Spyderco for less than $35.
***** MTech is pretty hit-or-miss, but most of their stuff is mediocre at best. At the $20 range, Gerber is much better.
What do you think of Trueswords and BUDK? Ever bought from them? They always seem to give me a fair shake.
Even though i have no real interest in buying knives and such, i am really thankful for this video.
what type of metal is the gerber "gold finch" made out of ? or whats the rainbow effect called ? i am doing some projects with knife making and with metals in general and i am really interested in having rainbow colored metals.i have seen some that are a lighter "chrome/silver" color with the rainbow coloring that looks like oil on water and i cant find anything about.like what its called or how to do it and what metal it is or the type of metal and treatment needed to get the effect, thank you
that mini remix 2 is so good
to be honest that goldfinch from 'gerber' would be pretty cool if it wouldn't break if someone breathed on it mainly the color though looks cool
Hey...my friend has a mini remix!although I've never seen a Gerber logo on it...
This should help: Introduction to sword collecting: Good vs. bad production swords
***** THANKS so much!
Do you think that the Cold Steel "counterfeit" might actually be a manufacturing error?
So BudK's site would maybe not be a good place to get knives? I have a few from them and When looking at them I'm having second thoughts about them...
Another thing about the Cold Steel Taipan, the real one is San Mai, and you can see the lines quite clearly.
go to ebay and look up "sog knife" with it set "price lowest to highest" there's a lot of different knives that say "SOG Flash Tanto" on them, many aren't even tanto blades.
LOL. My SOG Flash Tanto has a spear point blade. I knew it was not right when I bought it, but I thought maybe a factory 2nd. Was very cheap.
Any idea what styled knife the first fake Ferber knife is???
what is your opinion on musashi swords and tantos i recently bought one from kult of athena
So what you're telling me, is I can identify a fake knife by virtue of it being fake.
Good advice!
where did you buy the cheap version? Walmart? if yes then walmart has a tendancy to get lower grade items from the company that box looks much like the type of box i would expect from walmart.
i did some research and the cold steel logo would be upside down in that position
the only thing they got wrong on the tai pan is the snap button and the there is suppose to be a made in ... engraving under the tai pan logo
The funny thing is even Walmart will carry SOG and Cold Steel for cheaper with cheaper shipping.
could that Cold Steel be a misprint, or a 'second' from an actual Cold Steel manufacturer? or, no way to tell?
I have a true sog flash tonto knife that looks like that counterfeit knife so the picture you showed is a different model
I was about to mention how that IS the current logo of SOG, but then I realized this is a few years ago when they changed their box and logo designs. It is easy enough to swap out a knife freon the actual box. Always LOOK at and TOUCH the specific knife you are going to purchase.
Virtually?
I suggest getting knives from m - tech USA. I got my first knife there and it's brilliant sharp out of the box too
Funny that Cold Steel is often copied.
The last one, the "Gerber" Goldfinch, that is a terrible blade design, there are two places that the blade could break!
i love my buck nobleman using it for 18 years it,s stil holding out
That "Gerber" Finch is very cool looking though.
that's actually how the real SOG boxes look now. all my SOG knives have boxes like that (which are genuine). but on the real ones there are model numbers.
Also his box says: "SOG Extraordinary Tools & Blades" whereas the original box says "SOG Specialty Knives & Tools"
i have a question sorta related to this but do you know a good store to get a reliable box cutter knife i have a basic one i got from the company i work at and it gets dull too easily
The box actually was quite legitimate... Look online :p
Also, sometimes you REALLY cant tell. Theres a case with Spydercos and copies coming from china, for instance the spyderco Spin. If you feel an expensive knife is bad. Google HD pictures of it and compare yours to them !
"Never be afraid to mislabel a product." :D
I dunno, i would´ve bought that Taipan if it was cheap. It looks the part, and looks sharp.
Do they come with stattrack?
What are u gonna do with em?
But, katanas are japanese, not chinese..... (even though if it's made in China, and it's "techincally" chinese, katanas are a japanese weapon)
On the Gerber Goldfinch they called it a Gerber but the packaging is copying Spyderco
But spyderco come in boxes. Which spydies are you refferring to?
OHH nvm i see exactly what you mean. The red black and gray. Sorry bout that
FishMan8100 some come in blister packs now
Skal, do you generally trust knife center.com for most purchases?
Yes, I've ordered from Knifecenter several times and can recommend them.
I buy one in a box like this ( SOG), the handle was pretty ugly but it worked and cut perfectly.
you had me scared I literally just ordered a Cold Steel Paradox from warriorsandwonders a half hour ago, but then I saw it was on your preferred list and I just went PHEW!
With any suspicions about counterfeit anything, the first thing you should of course do is a comparison between the manufacturer's website/catalog and the actual product being sold. With right about any purchase, keep in mind that if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is!
if the item is conterfeit then what? i doubt some gangster in china will give you their money back
The S Man If you suspect it's counterfeit, don't buy it in the first place. What I meant to say is to check the goods before you buy, especially if the price seems to be too good to be true.
6:30 the blade is made by gurber
If you notice, the bolt (if you can even call it that) that attaches the blade to the handle is the same piece of shit on each of the fakes. I had a $8 "stilleto" spring assisted knife, and that bolt didn't take long to snap. When you put a real knife in your hand, you immediately feel the difference. Good video.
I am looking to acquire a tanto in the future what brand/model would you suggest?
Quinton Webber Well, it depends on what type of tanto you're looking for. If you're looking for a more traditional tanto, these are both really good, and pretty cheap;
www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=RY3046&name=Ryumon+Folded+Steel+Dragon+Tanto+-+Red+Saya
www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=DBT02&name=Masahiro+Midnight+Tanto
If you're more into the modern 'tacti-cool' (ugh.) type of tanto, or a tanto-style folder, try these;
www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=UC3032&name=Honshu+Tactical+O-Tanto
www.hrknives.com/BOM02327--Boker-Magnum-Hunchback_p_2187.html
While I'm not exactly a fan of the whole 'tacti-cool' thing, the Honshu tactical line is really good. I won't deny high quality just because of personal preference.
In fact, the katana from that line is my next purchase for my collection.
I own this next one, and it's really good. If you just want something really cheap, or can't afford something better, this one is amazing for the price;

Thanks
Skallagrim, have you ever seen the knife store, BUDK.com? From what I've seen, they have lots of varieties of swords and knives and machetes from different brands. I got a genuine Gurkha Kukri from there once, and it's very nice. I'm nowhere near as educated as you are in terms of the quality of bladed weapons, and I only have a very small collection of knives, but I think you might like BUDK.
There may be no GERBER Goldfinge but that knife looks cool as hell.
how much is that counterfeit cold steal cuz i want one and i don't care if its counterfeit if its that much cheaper
That's Amazon for you. Basically the entire point of the website is buying items cheaper than the manufacturer sells them.
