It's been nearly twenty years, but Fox Confessor Brings The Flood still hits me to the core. This song, especially. It makes me so sad, but somehow makes me think I should go on. Thank you Neko Case for such fantastic music.
For many years I've been amazed by this woman. The voice is just a national treasure. The accompaying musicians are almost always top-shelf arrangers and composers as well. But the complexity of her lyrics, for instance taking her shots at family dysfunction or the identity within isolation all stylized or intertwined with symbolism from the natural world, it's just amazing. I do it no justice trying to summarize her body of work, not accurately anyway, and that's often a tell-tale mark of brilliance. Neko Case is one of the few musicians that personally I will listen to an entire album, not just a track or two. I'm not saying she's creating concept work but that instead every bit of her effort, everything she puts into it, I want to savor it. Think on it. Re-visit it. Grow my own thoughts around it. It's some of the most alive music I've ever heard. In this day and age with unlimited access to enormous troves of sonic artistry, it's saying something that I'm fixated on anything I can find from this artist. Worth repeating, this is some of the most alive music I've ever heard.
I saw her 2 nights ago in Boston and she was, of course, amazing. Show was at the pretty staid Colonial Theater and in a quiet moment I yelled out, "Neko, you're a prophet!" She smiled sweetly at me from the stage. 😍😍😍
I agree with all of you! I had the highly awesome pleasure of being Neko’s best friend in 7th and 8th grade. She is an Army brat like me, and we were the freaks in school. She did the visual arts so well and she had blue hair and terrifically elaborate and vivid eye make up. This song is one of my all time favorites of hers. I lived through a major phase of my life relating so deeply to this song. I still do. Sending love from Seattle, WA. Going to see her on July 1st, 2023 at Klackamas County Fair Grounds in Oregon. Woo hoo! Love you my sweet kitty cat. Her music has healed and saved me, I can’t COUNT how many times.
Last night's opener at Strathmore. I never tire of her stunning voice and it was made for the acoustics of that venue. A perfect night to celebrate my birthday, anniversary and so much happiness. Thank you for your gift Neko. You are a treasure.
She is wearing a Ukrainian flower crown. I looked her up, her parents were Ukrainian. So much musical talent there, so many great voices, singing a capella on selfie videos in the town square...
I’ve loved her cover of Harry Nilsson’s song Don’t Forget Me” for years. One of the most unique voices I have ever heard. Definitely a performed on my bucket list to see perform live.
I saw Neko almost exactly a year ago in Reno. She was everything and more than I dreamed of. She was wearing those same skeleton tights at the show. She's the BEST!!
My dear daughter died at the age of 31. After 13 grueling days on a ventilator due to several autorimesse diseases. She was a rare beauty with auburn hair & skin like porcelain. She had a 140 I. Q. & spoke three languages fluently by the time she was 20 years old. To her & I music was like breathing. She attended her first Opera at the age of 3 yrs old. The Opera was Regiletto by Verdi. She played the Cello, Piano,& Spanish guitar by the time she was 16 years old. She loved the Beatles, especially John Lennons voice & music. We went to see the Cranberries, REM, and other 90s pop groups & many Operas Madame Butterfly, Tosca, la Bohême. Puccini , Verdi & Bellini were her favorite composers. She loved Nico Case because Nico understood the human condition like Sinead O'CONNOR. When she died, her wonderful dear husband died inside as well. He has attempted suicide twice😢. We love him still like the son we never had. My wife found this song tonight & we both listened to it & cried. Our Danielle had a beautiful voice & she recorded two CDs @ home on her computer. She wrote several songs. And we think about her every day. We moved to France five years after her death. Where my Grandmother Adele was born outside Lyon France. Remember, my friends music is a healer, a gift from God, our grand creator. Revalation chaper 21 verses 1-4. We will see her again as God promises in his word the Bible. Please take care as the world becomes more dangerous etc. Merci beaucoup mon amies ❤ Arnaud Bourbon Amaral 🇨🇵
@@arnoldamaral3814 So sorry for your loss. Your daughter's spirit lives on through her art. Have you uploaded her music anywhere? I'd love to hear it.
«Die Ukraine» (1841)
Her voice, her strongest asset is beginning to fade. The headdress looks ridiculous and she never could pull herself together as a something we’d want to watch AND listen to. She’s one big missed opportunity.

So many years and still my favourite. Her voice is precious.
I love it. I get lost in it.
I love it too. Not by any chance related to that bum George Costanza I presume? :)
Fantastic That’s What U Are ❤🇨🇦
Since from true blood. I love this song. Help me to cry, when i need. Xoxo from Brazil 🇧🇷
I Agree
I didn't realize it was in True Blood!
same, the song really captured the beauty of that scene

This song was on "Blacklisted"
Simply one of the best singer/songwriters around. A force of nature 👁👁
She's an ageless goddess in my eyes.

Tens of billions of our tax-payer money sent to Ukraine for war. Money laundering at its best.
This deserves so much more attention.
Truly lovely. Thanks, Neko et al!
Neko I saw you perform this last night in Toronto. Thank you so much for this song, and your brilliant performance and talent 🙏

1. The slide guitarist looked like he was so intent on doing his best.

Why doesn't anyone tell me about these amazing artists?
Welcome!
It's a shame we don't know who the musicians are.

What is that 7 stringed acoustic he’s playing in the background?!
I think she's wearing those same (or at least similar) skeleton pants in the Maow video for "Ms Lefevre" back in 1996.
