I'm a 65 yr old female, been married nearly 40 years and I have gone thru several phases of life, which includes body size, shape and what my body is doing. I'm so much more than my appearance. I understand being young and glowing up every day, trying new looks and enjoying youth. But, it was never the whole focus of my life. It just added to the adventure I was on. We all get insecurities in adolescense that carry over into adulthood. I find those more challenging than putting on makeup and clothing, and tougher to overcome.
More like 13 guys. But I agree witht he OP. We tend to over emphasize looks on our hierarchy of needs in a spouse. When really things like empathy, loyalty and willingness to forgive are so much more important to a successful relationship.

TLC used to have a makeover show (I forget the name) with two hosts and a makeup artist for the makeup. The makeup artist always did a great job on the person being made-over, always correctly matching colors and hues to the person's natural skin tones. Though she never followed her own advice. Her makeup was always wild and out there and never matched the things she was telling the people to (correctly) do. It was like she didn't spend all of her day in front of a mirror, even though that's what she did. Amazing.
i agree in a sense that there are SO many things you can do to enhance your look that has nothing to do with makeup, like a really good health for good skin and hair and being disciplined in self-grooming. you CAN look great AND natural.
To my great horror I found out that there are now Apps out there that are supposed to do show what a person (and, let's face it, they mean women) looks like without makeup based on pictures of her to "prevent nasty surprises". I'm a white, cis, straight male and I think the entire concept is disgusting. "Buy this app, you get to be judgemental before you even meet a woman".
That sounds like some bizarro incel nonsense. What do they think make up does though? It’s not a complete face changer. I mean, unless you’re doing some VFX make up lol

i got Emma's 'Guide to Being a Silly Little Guy' and i got too silly. now i've got all kinds of people obsessed with me- law enforcement, prosecutors, mental health professionals, even Interpol!! 10 outta 10, would recommend.
Yeah the whole Empath explanation Emma gave at the end resonated with me. I was raised in a really New Age Neo-Pagan kind of family and was told almost all of my young life that I was "an indigo child" or that I was a "clairvoyant empath" so I grew up believing all that about myself... until my late 20's when I realised it was just a bunch of sociopathic BS to excuse why I don't get along with everyone I met.
Oh wow, “indigo child”, haven’t heard that one in a while! A summer school counselor used that one to hint to my mom that he thought I was neurodivergent. And I am! ASD. But my mom used to brag about me being a genius magical child of some sort because of this incident, which made things way harder for me in restrospect.
@@ariariaris Honestly I think most Millenials that were called "Indigo Children" did turn out to be on the spectrum somehow, because I am the same. Seen by most adults as very intelligent and smart, but zero social skills, and gods help you if I found what you were teaching boring!

Then, I watched a video where she proclaimed waxing was "basic" hygiene. Like, any woman who didn't wax, was a slag. It is expensive and very painful. (and it was done by a professional and STILL torture) I didn't appreciate being made to feel like I am not feminine enough because I refuse to put myself through torture. I no longer subscribe.
Only the scams are scams. Not everything else. This looksmaxing thing is just horrible. I stumbled across the reddit thread. Attractive women desperately seeking people to tell them they are attractive (and thats my charitable interpretation). Just horribly sad and pathetic.
Gotta say, I checked that channel out, was immensely disappointed that it turned out to be the most mundane, reasonable suggestions. I was hoping for skull shape phrenology you find on male looksmaxxing channels, instead I got "focus on yourself, find a hobby, and use skin products and body language".
You say you want to work on being more kind. You are already kind. I remember when I first came across your channel. The first videos I saw were you looking at MLM and pickup artist channels. You were so reasonable, calm and looking for the best in people who were not all doing good things. In short you were kind. Very kind. You showed a huge heart and an a lot of love for your fellow humans who , though they were not in the right, were still struggling through life like the rest of us. Never doubt your kindness Emma. I wont.
When she said her focus for 2024 was her hair, specifically "length", I immediately thought back to a friend of mine 20 years ago. He ended up in hospital with malaria, and said he needed a project which would take up a lot of time but not much energy. So he grew a beard. Is Vikita shouting mantras at her hair to grow faster?
I'm an Englishman in the fifteenth year of a relationship with an American woman. One thing we've discussed many times is the transactional approach to relationships in US culture. It's obvious enough in TV and movies but she also gets some very cynical questions and advice from her colleagues.
If I met a woman and she was spending $2600 a year on a dating course, I'd be out very quickly. Clearly I wouldn't have found someone with any financial responsibility 😂
Look at me harping on about my privilege. Pay me money to keep up this privileged lifestyle. Waffle. Waffle. Waffle. Buzzwords to sound knowledgeable. Look at me experting, AND don't forget to pay me money!
If I had to guess, it means finding hair care products or supplements that prevent breakage. At least, lately I've been getting TH-cam recommendations along those lines. Which is all well and good, but I wouldn't call it a "journey."
Taking supplements. Seriously though. I am taking collagen for a totally different reason and out of no where I noticed how long and thick my eyelashes are getting and how fast my hair is growing. Then I realized , holy shit, it's the collagen!!
If you're supposed to derive your confidence from your physical appearance, then you can never confidently leave the house without first wasting a ton of time, energy and dirt-smacking on your face. Here's my totally free and actual useful advice: look inwards. _See_ who you _are._ Come to terms with the fact that you're human and thus _excel_ in certain things and just don't vibe with other things. Love you for who you are, and you'll exude a natural confidence that will shine through even your worst hair day. At that point, make-up will only serve to obfuscate your vibe. Be human, not a dress-up doll.
24:00 Feels in a way icky to talk about a woman being a man, but looking at her old pics and contrasting it to her present 'better' self especially in context of her name/heritage, a lot of things became clear. 'Trivedi' is a surname from either India or Nepal (I'm half-half on both sides) and comes from the Brahmin class, which in its infinite problematic issues, is considered the highest class. There is an inherent racism embedded in that culture which puts a lot of emphasis on fair skin as being a symbol of beauty. Obviously, there's an added patriarchal pressure or expectation within that social structure as well. You can scan any number of media down here and see the emphasis beauty products put on women to be fair to be considered beautiful, often showing women with darker skin as ugly. If this feels like a tangent, I'm getting to my point. When you contrast this 'influencer' with her old self, it clearly shows that self-loathing she felt by being around fair people, (her accent speaks American to me, so it's fair to assume that the number of black or brown people were fairly low in comparison to the amount of white ones in her surrounding) which she is trying to erase by presenting a superficial idea of beauty that is based on appearance than self-reflection and innate confidence. You can only guess what kind of men that way of thinking is going to attract. It's sad. What's worse is that she's trying to make others feel bad about who they are. At one point of her life, my sis used to get sucked into this kind of nonsense, glad she gave that up, and even gladder that there are people like Emma shaming 'influencers' like Vickita here. They do more harm than good by refusing to get therapy and instead pouring out their negativity onto others.
Nice comment, but hard to read without a few separations for paragraphs lol.. kind of gives me a headache reading the wall of text and little letters all smushed together
I doubt I would want to be with a woman who employs the tactics she is selling. I want to be with a woman who will stand beside me, as my wife of 40 years has. I don't know what I would do without her. As for you Emma I watch you because I know you will always bring a smile to my face, you make me laugh. We need more influencers like you, don't change a thing.
14:26 There is the "Royal We," eg, "WE do not approve," and the "Editorial We," eg "WE oppose this candidate..." And **I** have defined a "Personal We," consisting of the "Triune Triumvirate of Three, I, Myself, and Me!"
If there is anything that I have learned after sixty years on the planet, dear, young, beautiful, Emma, is that I am not qualified to dispense advice as to how to find the best sort of life for anyone. We find it for ourselves, whether we like it or not.
I remember Doug Doug changed his entire LinkedIn (I think that was the job site) profile because people kept spamming job offers at him (has experience in a high demand field) and he wanted the weirdest profile possible so they would stop.

Whelp, this is the first time in the year I've known that word that someone said "looksmaxxing" without being satirical. Thanks I hate it. It's just MLM speak.
15:00 - I'm one of those people that would argue that simple and easy mean two different things. For me, when I say "Simple" I mean that it doesn't take many steps to complete regardless of difficulty. When I say "Easy" I mean it isn't difficult to complete, regardless of how many steps it may take to get done.
Very good explanation i totaly agree. Altho this is one of those things that people do not often learn by someone teaching them but through experience. Wich is why people can have slightly different ideas about what some words really mean. Like, we coukd both be wrong that there is a difference. But i have always seen them as having slightly different meanings.

I feel like being a "dating expert" is like being a "serial entrepreneur". It means nothing you try works long term. I mean if you're not looking for long term stuff and just want a bunch of casual relationships, that's fine. But that's not what most of the people you're marketing to are looking for.

Right? I got so many compliments on how thick and shiny my hair was when I stopped washing it (I do like one a month with witch hazel) and my skin cleared up too! I have to wash my hands way a ton (healthcare worker), but even I know that's not good for my skin.
Yeah my skin would dry up and it would be a bad time, most of the year. Which sucks because I love a hot shower! It's so calming. But couple my dry skin with also having to pay my water bill (and also whatever environmental impact water treatment + heating might be having if I ramp up my showering) it's just not a great idea for me.
I'm sorry, I've forgotten everything I was going to type about this video, because Emma, it worked. Another absolutely brilliant video Emma … The way you take down these bloody idiotic people is hilarious and had me laughing… Love your sarcasm and wit plus the little giggles … Btw your hair rocks !!
I think Emma looks white and thin and at the same time ''nerdy'' enough to not have a past of being extremely bullied for her appearance like a lot of the women who fall for these things and become obsessed with appearance do
No hate to Emma, she seems like a wonderful person, It's just that comments like this which treat women like things that need to be attractive to you and comparing and discussing about these two women's attractiveness is probably an example why girls like the one the video is about kind of lose their souls and become obsessed with appearance, finding a ''high quality man'' and triving in the capitalistic society. It seems like this is the life purpose for them they can't escape.
The “predicting” thing strikes me as a rewording of the old advice that a housewife should anticipate her husband’s desires and always stay a step ahead at fulfilling them. You know, like “have a drink made and ready to put in his hand when he comes home from work, make sure you look your best as you hand it to him-and, also, no big deal, have a meal he really likes close enough to ready that he can sit down to eat just as soon as he finishes that drink and slips off his tie.”
Honestly, for $100's a month I would at LEAST want this grifter to consult a sound engineer and fix her set up and mixing so that it's professional quality instead of "I just sat down in front of my laptop" quality
Emma, you’re a refreshingly very normal human being, and I thank you for sharing your wonderful thoughts…that just happen to very much align with my own. But still, thanks for putting it online.

@@andrewjenkins9965 Oh goddamnit

This is beautiful.
*poor grammar 😅
I'm a 65 yr old female, been married nearly 40 years and I have gone thru several phases of life, which includes body size, shape and what my body is doing. I'm so much more than my appearance. I understand being young and glowing up every day, trying new looks and enjoying youth. But, it was never the whole focus of my life. It just added to the adventure I was on. We all get insecurities in adolescense that carry over into adulthood. I find those more challenging than putting on makeup and clothing, and tougher to overcome.
we are all 20 years old in our head
@DavidLair3ndr Yeah, I can confirm!
More like 13 guys. But I agree witht he OP. We tend to over emphasize looks on our hierarchy of needs in a spouse. When really things like empathy, loyalty and willingness to forgive are so much more important to a successful relationship.

It's wild and free just like Emma! Love it.
@Yuriel1981 I'm imagining the hair with an American flag in the background. Or maybe as a character on the bald guy's head in gi joe. I swear that show was the most effective propaganda ever produced for kids. It's been like 35 years and I can still hear "Go Joe" in my head
Kinda funny that it is always the people with the most most unnatural looking makeup/style who wanna tell others how to "glow up" and stuff
Amazing.
It's like she's got a Snapchat filter on in real life
It becomes uncanny at a point yknow? At some point you cake yourself in it so much and in such an exagerrated style that you look strange
When it looks like the makeup takes 2 hours to put on and can then be peeled off in 30 seconds it is not a good look.
i agree in a sense that there are SO many things you can do to enhance your look that has nothing to do with makeup, like a really good health for good skin and hair and being disciplined in self-grooming. you CAN look great AND natural.
36:52 “let your energy linger” is she talking about farts? Is she saying we should fart in the room and then leave?
She did also say to imagine green energy bursting out of you, so. Do with that what you will.
I really dislike this move. But I sure do respect it
i trust her advice now if this is the case
you misspelled ‘pheromones’
It’s a heckuva power move, asserting dominance and marking the territory. 💩
The appearance anxiety people face comes from convincing people they have a problem and then selling them a solution.
AKA the whole beauty industry
Like religion. They tell you you're sick and sell you the cure.
I mean, unless you’re doing some VFX make up lol
i need to try this with a picture of myself already without makeup i am dying to know what my non makeup self looks like without makeup
@ 😅😂
@ It IS some bizarro incel nonsense. "In the fantasy world I live in where I see a woman I think looks nice who will absolutely sleep with me at the first chance because I am such a catch she better look my idea of perfect the next morning" or some utter garbage.
I mean it's for photos (dating apps), so you are already judging the person only by their looks lol
I have immense pity for people who genuinely fall for this crap.
When that testimonial was on screen I had flashbacks to Boris and his sunny uplands. The thing about constitutional free speech is that seems to allow people to freely lie.

I was watching Vickita's videos and getting a weird vibe from them but kept watching because I felt like I was going to miss some important information I would somehow need in life, lol.
Ya know Emma, 20 years ago my dad said to me,.."Son, people are turning into a bunch of suckers." He was way ahead of his time.
People have always been suckers. When and where do you think the phrase "snake oil salesman" came from?
It feels like everything on the internet is a scam these days 😔
Tv/internet it’s scripted and fake. 😞

Only the scams are scams. Not everything else. This looksmaxing thing is just horrible. I stumbled across the reddit thread. Attractive women desperately seeking people to tell them they are attractive (and thats my charitable interpretation). Just horribly sad and pathetic.

Same!
Emma hope you are doing well, loving the longer hair it definitely suits you, much love from a fellow Brit in Wiltshire 🇬🇧
American in Florida. God, what I'd give to be a Brit in Wiltshire.
There’s just something more light and relaxed about TH-camrs outside of the U.S. that our folks don’t have anymore. 😢
It is not what is missing, it is what they caught. They caught politics.
@@thetypingape2073 Painfully true, although “politics” may not be specific enough.
I love British TH-camrs and some of their reality tv, too. It feels gentle and enjoyable.

How does one "work on" growing one's hair longer? Mine has always grown by itself.
I know! Mine grew all the way down to my butt crack, and I didn't work on anything, I just ... didn't get haircuts or cut it myself.,
Extensions and supplements?
If I had to guess, it means finding hair care products or supplements that prevent breakage. At least, lately I've been getting TH-cam recommendations along those lines.
Which is all well and good, but I wouldn't call it a "journey."
Taking supplements. Seriously though. I am taking collagen for a totally different reason and out of no where I noticed how long and thick my eyelashes are getting and how fast my hair is growing. Then I realized , holy shit, it's the collagen!!
She sounds like someone who hugs her friends and smiles over their shoulder evilly like she's in a bad soap opera.
You can't glow down Emma, you're a star !
When does your sillymaxxing protocol is coming out ? I've been saving to pay the small monthly fee of 777$
Surely it would cost $666? 😉
I love when Emma corrects the grammar because all I hear is "it's pronounced Levi-O-sa, not Levio-SA"
You can imagine how insufferable I was at that age
The "emotional prediction" section is just her talking about the skill of empathy, but in the most investor-pilled financebro way she could.

Fantastic video, as usual! Keep up the great work!
