Nice to see the face behind the voice. Great and simple tool to make and use. You always respect things you make and they usually last a lifetime. Nice one !
Even if you can afford one, this is a worthwhile project, if you put your mind to it you can make a super accurate, customized jig cheaper and better than you buy. Excellent video.
I love making my own tools. It's not only saving money but improving things for a better usage. These kind of tools cost from 30/40 to more than 100€ for those in anodized aluminium. When we see all what's needed to make decent models, any tip or trick is good to know. I already ordered the steel rules, i've got the rest lying here and there. Thank you David, keep going. P.S. : I just made one saving arround 50€ to buy beers.
Just made 2 of these for about 15 bucks. The screws are really lined up, but the bending edge is perfect. Can't wait to give them a try. Thanks for this.
I despise working with photo etch. Even on the rare occasions I've managed to bend it to the right shape the stuff stubbornly refuses to stick to plastic. Even with the strongest superglues I can find . My hats off to anyone who can do it successfully.
I was searching for 'Photoetch for Beginners' videos and i came accross this one and just wanted to say that its inspired me to build my own one so thank you for taking the time to film and upload this video. Many thanks
Are you watching me, David? Only this week I decided to get a bending tool and I have been researching how to make one. Thank you very much for this, and all of your videos!
Thank you for sharing this. I've held off buying a PE tool because they're fairly expensive but now I'm going to try building my own and save myself some money. Thank you David, appreciate this little tutorial alot :)
Hi David, that is awesome, you are so creative and clever, thanks for sharing this idea and showing us. I enjoy your practical approach to modelling, and no one can argue with your results !! When you guys inspired me to get back into modeling a few years back, to me the most expensive materials is paint. Basic tools are pretty cheap these days. I was amazed that good small .2mm airbrushes were so cheap (I am using a $25 one!). I reuse a lot of household items, contact lens foil for straps, belts, etc. contact lens containers as paint or glue cups. and so on. Have a great day !!
Hey, David, I have been watching your videos for several years now. They are ALL wonderful! Thank you for taking all the time it takes to create these for us all. I so appreciate your work.
*DAVID* Please do more videos like this ! I love watching you make your models and dioramas, but this little tool will be so useful. I had looked into buying one of these parts benders but they are not cheap, and as my funds are severely restricted, I had put it on a list of "Things to get when I win the lottery !" Please make more video's like this, maybe 1 every month or every six weeks, where you can help those of us without limitless funds make the equipment we can't afford to buy. Maybe you could make an angled guillotine cutter next ? Anything that helps build the models, or organise the work station, or holds tools would be of great benefit. Thanks.
What a great way to to build one, and super cheap too, sadly I'm not a modeller as I shake too much (medical) but I truly enjoy watching your builds and attention to detail is 2nd to none. Well done and keep them coming.
I wish I would have seen this a few months back. Ended up purchasing a $40 bending tool. I had all of the parts to build one from scratch. May still do so. Great video!!
Finally I see the face that goes with the voice. I have to admit that you have the face of your accent :-) . Great video and great channel, very relaxing. I show your video to my daughter before sleeping. She's looking forward to be old enought to do some models herself.
Since I don't have a bending tool I'll be making one of these. Thanks for the walk through. Also if you get your hands on a Dovetail saw it will leave cleaner cuts.
Nice bender. Tip: when using contact adhesive coat both surfaces evenly and let dry until slightly tacky, about 15 minutes. Press both pieces together for an instant bond. Align parts carefully when you join them as you can’t adjust pieces when joined.
This is so awesome! I have Metal Earth models that were Christmas gifts piling up because I haven’t wanted to spend the money on a proper bending tool, so this is a great solution.
Hi David, I watched your video to make an etched photo folder, I have been thinking about making one for some time, and with your video I decided to do it, as I am assembling a MACK truck, the air intakes on the roof are not done well, I finished now during the night and I’ve used it, it works just as well as one bought in the store. Great tip, as always. (I still think the ME 262 is the best assembly you've ever done). Big hug.
You sir are a true artist and it's been really enjoyable to watch your video's. I didn't have any ideas that anyone could be as creative and informative all at the same time. I hope your channel will continue to grow because more people need to know what a true modeler is like.✊😉👍
The KebabRemover28 Isn’t it a bit like how most post soviet countries see Good quality as something you can easily fix not something that lasts forever?. (Not trynna be rude or anything btw)
@@kshatriya1414 Depends, it is probable. But in Czech republic, where I live, you can see such thing everywhere. Czechs are very "do it yourself, cause the overpriced crap is plain useless". You can say we are poor beggars, but we are not. You see when you do something yourself you can fix anything that goes wrong. And that is what I love about us.
Simple, cute and effective and cheap: and what else? someone do it to you? haha Really a nice idea, so we buy another kit more! It is so simple to do that I wonder why I didn't think about it too, but this is what transforms a man into an inventor: he gets there first!
For tricking me in my sleep deprived state into thinking this was a model Bender I demand you make a model Bender.
Frykul he tricked me too
I had the same metal ass-umtion
...not only a model Bender but from metal parts bent with that model bender!

I went through 2/3rds of the video waiting for David to begin working on his photo-etched Bender... He got us well.
And remember when using those dremel cutting disks : always wear protective goggles. Because when the disk "catch" into whatever it is that it cuts it can easily shatter. Stay safe guys and gals !
I lost 70% of my vision in one of my eyes 3 weeks ago like that. So "wear protective goggles" is a good advice.
I learned that the bad way, luckily it hited me in the forehead, between the eyebrows.
Zullaer gosh, i am so sorry that happened!
Remember idiots should not use power tools.
Amen brother!
Every video gets me closer and closer to building plastic models.
David Thanks you for bender plan 100% , you have saved my £50 euro .
Nice to see the face behind the voice. Great and simple tool to make and use. You always respect things you make and they usually last a lifetime. Nice one !
A simple yet brilliant alternative to expensive tool. Bravo, David!
Even if you can afford one, this is a worthwhile project, if you put your mind to it you can make a super accurate, customized jig cheaper and better than you buy. Excellent video.
As a Model Railroader, I have gleaned so much from your channel and videos thanks for this.

Thanks - this is a really useful tutorial! Manually bending PE is a real pain.
I love the ambient noise that you kept in the video of you sanding and cutting and all. Makes us feel like we’re there too! Great work as usual!
Just made 2 of these for about 15 bucks. The screws are really lined up, but the bending edge is perfect. Can't wait to give them a try. Thanks for this.
Its the little things that make all the difference in the modelling experience. Thanks for this video!
Today is the day I learned that PLASMO lives above a Hardware & Hobby Supply Store. L M A O !
I have to be clear! How on earth are you so clever to think of something like that! It’s so easy to make! Thanks David, you are one of the best!🇳🇱👍😀
He is a member of a superior branch of humans; Homo Faber (Latin for Man Who Builds Things).
I wish I had thought of it too!
Very creative! If I didn't already have a PE bending tool, I would definitely build this one! 👍
I despise working with photo etch. Even on the rare occasions I've managed to bend it to the right shape the stuff stubbornly refuses to stick to plastic. Even with the strongest superglues I can find . My hats off to anyone who can do it successfully.
I would argue that the bevel on the ruler is not optional if one wants precision. Great build. I had a great time building mine👍🏻
Doing my first project with PE and this is the thing I am making first. Looks like I have all the parts to do it!
Thanks for your inspiration!

Keep the tips, tools and models coming!!

Your last DIY videos blows my mind😱 you have so many great ideas👏👏👏👏👏
I was pondering for a long time whether I should buy a PE bending tool, but now I'm sure I will build the one from this tutorial. Thanks!

I was half expecting you to weather it 😂
And now, the oil paints...
Lets add Nice decals And pigments
This guy's awesome. I secretly watch his videos on TH-cam on my school computer during my classes!😂

It looks good. Try clamping the rulers together when you drill them so it lines up perfectly. You could even eliminate the bottom ruler.
So THATS what you look like! 😄
Great to put a face to the voice 👍🏻

Didn't think I'd need this in my life but wow this looks useful. Many thanks!
TFW Plasmo's bender construction is better than all your own modeling
Excellent idea and well worth making. It will save me a bit of brass. Thank you.
I wish I would have seen this a few months back. Ended up purchasing a $40 bending tool. I had all of the parts to build one from scratch. May still do so. Great video!!
if I were in your shoes I would do it anyway and put the one you just bought on sale, maybe swap it with some paint jar! :-)
Thank you David, this is a tool I've never bought due to his very high price.. I'll take advantage of your guide to build one :)
Dadgum, DIY engineers.....gotta love 'em. Thanks for the build video, Plasmo!

Wow, very quick to make and effective to use. Great idea, David, you're very inspired and inspiring ourselves
What a great unit. Thanks for sharing. Most of the videos I am seeing say 4-5 years ago. I hope you are still making them.
This is so awesome! I have Metal Earth models that were Christmas gifts piling up because I haven’t wanted to spend the money on a proper bending tool, so this is a great solution.
That is pure genius. Well done sir...well done. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent tutorial, well done! More of these DIY videos, please 👍

Excellent to see the man behind the magic :) Great tutorial
Once again Plasmo delivers to us part of his amazing skills !!
You're a modelling genius, mate
Wish I could just push the like button as much as I want to. This is amazing!

You are a true craftsman David. Great video. Dave
Brilliant, thank you. I’m off to the shed!!!
Clever and resourceful, the way of the hobbyist well done
We have these tools in our restoration shop, a four foot and an eight foot version. They are known as metal breaks. or Break. Really handy tools!
This was very ingenuous!!! Nicely done 👍🏼
A great tool AND cheap. The universe is in order.
I never stop learning from you! Thanks Plasmo ( David)
I have an antique flower press. Perfect for kitbashing....
Brilliant tutorial and great tool hack which saves money.perfect 👍👍👍
What an excellent idea and, like all the best ideas, so ****** simple.👍👌

Great idea David. Glad I took the time to watch
Definitely making one of these handy little tools for my modeling projects, thank you. 👍👍👍👍👍
I would love a DIY series. Im definitely going to make one of these
Disappointed with the lack of weathering on this one. :) Top work as always.
Un grand merci pour cette excellente idée et réalisation.
Excellent work David 😃👍
Just built one of these myself! Better than spending $100 for an already built one
I have made this tool, idea is perfect, easy to make and cheep. Thx Plasmo!

Thank you David. A perfect and cheap way to bend PE parts.
Knocked one up today.
Cheers for the design!
I started a new model kit yesterday and the first thing on my mind was "hello fellow modeller"
Oliver Müller where are you from?
A necessary tool. Thanks for your videos I look forward to watching them!
Nice to see your face after all these years
Clever!!. Very Clever indeed. Thank you for sharing!
I think the the bolts should be weathered great job showing people this and saving money 👍
Plasmo: "My photo etch bending jig is innaccurate, so i scratchbuilt one". Amazing.
This is czech mentality for you :D

Wow! Thank you! I never even thought of making my own tool for bending photo-etch. I have looked them up on line and they are expensive. Thanks again.
This will help a lot of people! What an amazing idea, and thankyou for sharing it!
Simple, cute and effective and cheap: and what else? someone do it to you? haha
Really a nice idea, so we buy another kit more!
