SRS is fucking scuffed. This isn't even hate or anything bc I'm ftm trans myself. It's just fact. The surgeries are just super primitive, basically rearranging body parts and destroying genetalia is what it is. Pain is extremely common but professional data is so lacking that people aren't aware just how bad the complications are with these surgeries. It's sad because most people end up thinking they're alone in their complications. Anyway, pain is to be expected when penetrating an open flesh wound. Doctors are doing a disservice to patients by not disclosing just how barbaric it is and emphasizing the extremely high complication rate. You WILL get a complication. It just depends on which one it is and how severe.

There's always periotoneal pull through vaginoplasty, it doesn't have as much long term reaserch about the risks, but it you wouldn't have to dilate for more than a year and wouldn't need to douche and it deals with other complications

Although it begane less over time. I transitioned when I was 28 and had GRS when I was 30. I'm 34 now and while pain is still there, it became much less as I dilated more. I now dilate 4 times a week. My surgery was with McGinn. Who did yours?
Well yes, but with this surgery the canal is formed *via* scar tissue. We have to remember there is a big difference between the natural organ that naturally is able to stretch/retract, pulsate, self-clean, and deliver a whole ass baby through, and a medically created canal that is formed from intentionally forcing the cavity to scar and not close just for purpose of sexual penetration. I am not saying this to be disrespectful, just factual: they are simply not the same, and shouldnt be treated like they are. Its not that one is better or worse, just different, and thats okay. (If you're an adult-- do you; live and let live, ya know.) But doctors absolutely need to start being much more upfront, detailed, and honest about its capabilites and the potential for life-long problems the surgery often causes. Informed consent should always be completely through and 100% transparent-- both the good, the bad, and the ugly.
