I think for Xbox it's almost a too little too late type deal. Sony and their partners have had shit going in the background since the 360/PS3 days, and that's why they've had so much success in the current day cause they gave themselves that time to be able to put out bangers. Just because Xbox buys out some companies doesn't mean they can churn out good quality stuff in a time frame that's consistent with people's interest, if that makes sense.
It does makes sense but most importantly, Xbox leadership changed mid generation of the 360 era going into the xbox one generation. The passionate gamers that used work at xbox has long gone and was replaced by rat suit wearing money hungry PR guys who hate video games, don't play video games and is only cashing in on the popularity until the well runs dry. I did a video on that yesterday on my channel called the state of xbox fate in 2023 go and check it out. I went more in depth than TGamer2323.
The PS3 days we had exclusive after exclusive coming out since they had 360 as competition.
We had Metal Gear 4, Resistance,Infamous, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, God of war, Killzone list just kept going

At this point they should just get Peter moore back. That’s when Xbox was truly exciting and worth owning. Actual exclusive titles(no pc) and dlc with innovative software. We got achievements, marketplace, cross game chat, AAA blockbusters and whacky AA games under him.
People only stick with Xbox nowadays cause of their achievements and library but there’s no reason to own one anymore.

Ive been on Xbox for the last 12 years (I had a PS1 and PS2) and have recently switched over to ps5 I just want to come back to playstation , its been so long. Honestly, I have grown impatient with microsoft never getting any notable exclusives through the pipeline and watching sony year after year get all the exclusives, it feels good to be back on Playstation

People seriously have to recognize the standard issue Xbox rations Microsuck feeds to their user base. A steady diet of HOPE, PROMISES, and SHITE games.
It’s do or die for MS in 2023 as far as I’m concerned. I switched back to PS as my primary platform but I’m still holding out hope that Xbox can give me a reason to keep my series X as a secondary platform. If they can’t deliver the goods or star-field ends up being mid, I’ll get a switch or PC as my secondary platform to compliment my PS5. All the money in the world doesn’t guarantee talent or the ability to nurture/cultivate it.
Pressure can either fold you or make a diamond. Let’s see how it plays out.
It's simple, if you find the games they announced interesting, keep it. That's enough reason. But if the sole decision lies on if you like Starfield, if you don't like Bethesda games I'd say get something else.

Xbox definitely needs to get to a point where at minimum they are releasing one exclusive every year. They spent way too much money to not bear any fruit. But I think I remember hearing that Xbox devs were told to use the Forza engine to make games and it's makes me think that Xbox could be having similar struggles to EA when they wanted there devs to use the frostbite engine. Overall I think each big three are sticking to what they do best. Playstation has the home console market. Xbox has the digital/streaming gaming market. Nintendo has the hybrid/portable and affordable gaming market.

As a player who owns all the consoles and steam deck, the exclusives are not that big of a deal if you prefer playing the third party released games on Xbox. I don’t know anybody who games on a console just for their exclusives. 90% of games release on all platforms except switch anyways.

I have a PS5 but I only use it for the occasional exclusive that interests me. For day to day I use the xbox series with game pass and I am more than satisfied. If I wanted to buy a multi game, I do it on Xbox.
They need to come up with games that will make me want to buy an Xbox again. As a PS5 owner I havent owned an Xbox since the 360 days

XBox has so much games and intellectual properties at their disposal yet they didn't take advantage of that opportunity to monetize those games! They could bring these games to modern audience with new updated graphics. Maybe something like a remake similar to the Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. If they do that to the Banjo-Kazooie franchise then they could have some sort of win. I'm also talking about exclusive games that they can bring back other Halo Infinite, Gears of War and Forza Horizon like Blinx, Otogi 1 and 2, Tao Feng Fist of the Lotus, MechAssault, Bruce Lee Quest of the Dragon, Brute Force, Conker, Murakumo Renegade Mech Pursuit, Viva Pinata, Steel Battalion, etc. The problem is that XBox just wasn't able to establish multiple known IPs in the past and focused too much on Halo and Kinect games. Now, they're paying for it because most of their fanbase want the same games over and over! They just want More Halo, more Gears of War and that's it! SMH

Honestly brotha, I feel like this is just where gaming is headed in general. I think in the future we're gonna be seeing a much smaller emphasis on console exclusives and you can kinda see the beginnings of this with Playstation putting their games on PC even if it's not day 1. I think what Microsoft realized early was that there is more money in putting their games and streaming services on as many platforms as possible and profiting off of them and now we are beginning to see other companies realize this too. I feel like in 5-10 years the idea of a pure console exclusive is gonna pretty much be nonexistent.
Oh that *IS CLEAR.* But even with Playstation you can always count on a select few first party games from them that may hit PC in a year or two. They still have a stronger line up to represent the PlayStation brand than Xbox has. Xbox has absolutely nothing. Their brand is GAME PASS and PLAY ANYWHERE. That's the difference. Only company that keeps it OG at this point is Nintendo
PC Gaming doesn’t directly compete with console. There will always be a big emphasis on exclusives. It’s literally how these companies compete for market share. Without exclusives there’s literally no reason for multiple consoles to exist. This is a business, it’s always about providing consumers with something they can’t get everywhere.
Its not even about games being on PC. There are still plenty of people who are console only players. Its just about having good first party games exclusive to your platform, period. If all Playstation games were day one on PC like Xbox, PlayStation would still be doing great because they have the exclsuive games. Xbox just needs to produce really good, mass appeal first party games and their console hype will go way up.
Technically speaking if you want to play god of war you still have to buy a PlayStation and consoles aren’t going anywhere, there will always be more console players than pc players, so console exclusives still will exist

When it comes to series that they always focus on: Gears, Halo, Forza, and some extent Fable, the companies behind those series are always working on the same thing, all the time. The Coalition? Gears. 343 Industries? Halo. Turn 10 Studios? Forza.
I understand breaking off your comfort zone is hard for a lot of folks, but let these companies work on something completely new for a change, especially since some of these franchises have seen better days in a lot of fan's eyes.
Even before they went on their shopping spree with buying studios left and right, they have a few other IPs, under their belt that they've done nothing with over the years. Project Gotham Racing, Blinx, Quantum Redshift, hell ANY FRANCHISE FROM Rare Ltd.

I'm just tired of them saying it's going to be a big year for xbox fans. They've been saying that since 2018. This year is my final time of hoping it is the year. In the meantime ive been having a blast on the PS5 with Uncharted series, Ghost of tsushima, God of war series, Spiderman, Horizon series etc. I can see why they're on top. Sonys advantage is watching their studios closely and recognising their talents early. I can see how they make risks and huge investments into them to help meet those deadlines. Every game that I have played so far just had insane polish and just felt complete. I just want Xbox to come out with the same energy.

All the same sentiments here man. Ultimately Gamepass, Halo and my friends are the core reason I still use Xbox to this day. I still love the older Halo games (Halo 5 ain’t in the mix lol), Gamepass is good but I feel for me personally the honeymoon phase is almost over seeing how much is on there it’s an overwhelming amount of games and half of them I’m not even interested in 😂. I’m harder on Xbox now more than ever because I am a new PS5 owner and man exclusives like Ragnarok, Horizon a forbidden West, Returnal, Ratchet and Clank etc have my attention. Xbox HAS to get their house in order and the fans of Xbox need to stand up and demand a helluva lot more especially when it comes to Starfield. That game is MID right now but I really hope it gets better in time.
I personally love both the Xbox and the PlayStation. I think that they’re both phenomenal consoles and, owning both of these, they’re great in their own respects. That being said, I don’t really play Halo Infinite anymore, and most of my Halo time is spent on the Master Chief Collection. It’ll definitely be nice to see Xbox reclaiming the reputation it had during the 360 era, which can still happen. I don’t have an ETA on when that will be this generation. Now, rather or not they overtake Sony is an entirely different ordeal… I personally don’t see it happening, but I still love the Series X. An amazing console.

One thing that Sony seem to understand that Microsoft doesn't is the importance of 1st party titles and exclusives. Sony has FF16 coming in June. Spiderman 2 is supposed to be coming this year as well. Xbox needs to step it up because we need Sony to not get complacent.

As an owner or both consoles I agree. But I feel like I’m more frustrated with these big name developers like Rockstar, Naughty Dog, and Bethesda. If I see one more f*ing remake/remaster of GTA 5, Skyrim, The Last of Us, etc…..
Honestly they shouldn't make another halo or gears. I don't care about those anymore and I imagine a lot of people agree. They need a creative big budget ip. It's really risky but if they can pull it off it would be massive. But... Like you said these games have really long development cycles now. If they haven't started by now it probably is too late.
Though if they have been secretly making a 10/10 fable game, that could save them. Imagine a new fable game with the quality of santa Monica studios. That would sell systems for sure.

Totally agree man, I was Xbox since original. Gears was my life and halo was a close second. Without those games there's nothing left.
They're investing in all these studios and publishers but they really are not investing in a good dev pipeline. Something Nintendo and Sony have a lock on.
The unsung heroes are the support studios.
Sony has invested in opening up a Malaysian support studio, they bought Valkyrie Studios (which did support development on Halo Infinite AND GoW: Ragnarok btw)
They bought Nixxes and doubled down on Sony VSA.
Nintendo's umbrella of studios and partners always been good on supporting each other. They've been doing that since the 90s.
I'm not saying Xbox doesn't have it. I think they need to invest in it more. And also have good leadership that thoroughly understands game development.

Starfield, Redfall, Forza. Fingers Crossed for Hellblade II and maybe Avowed this year. Then we have, Lies of P, Wo Long, Atomic Heart, Silksong, Stalker 2, Replaced and more coming to GamePass from third parties. So it is looking promising

I don’t take video game culture seriously. For me you either play video games or you don’t want to in a particular situation. Like music I just listen to what I like. I never risk attachments to any form of entertainment and just move on. Lately I I’ve been buried deep with alien isolation and its been weeks since I watched any game reviews.😅

I dabble a bit into gamepass but I don't use it alot honestly. I just want them to drop these games they got cooking . I'm goin to always have a Xbox and eventually get that five. But for me this year Xbox needs great games . Obsidian is my main hope with avowed . Anything else Xbox has is a wait to see if it's gd or not .

As a primarily Xbox player, Game Pass is nice and it is my choice for multiplats because I love how the controller feels compared to the DualShocks, but… that’s really it. 343 keeps trying to reinvent the wheel on a flawless formula, Playground Games hasn’t said JACK about Fable and are putting less effort into the Forza Horizon games, and Gears is… y’know there. 😂
Even now, all I’m playing on Xbox rn is Persona again. When are we gonna get experiences tailor made for this machine? Am I thinking of completely switching to PS? No, but the less Microsoft does, the more of my money could potentially be going to Sony’s catalog, especially if they start day-&-dating their PC releases.

My combo is PlayStation for mostly exclusives, PC for everything else and emulating older machines and phone for on the go emulation. I don't need a Switch because you can actually emulate Switch games pretty nicely these days on a decent PC/gaming laptop. This setup is working out great for me, haha

I own the X, and I can’t even tell you when was the last time I turned it on 😭 I’m going on my 2nd year owning it, played the heck out of game pass, but canceled it a few months back because nothing was grabbing my attention. I’m holding out hope that THIS is the year I turn it back on, but it’s not looking too promising.

Man I agree with this all the way 💯 and I don't even own a PS5. I been disappointed with my Xbox Xperience so far. I'm tired of hearing this coming that's coming oh we acquired this company that company and nothing to show for it. MS is so busy coming out with Xbox features and updating features when they should be focused on what we want the damn console for in the first place and that's games not features.

I gave up hope on Xbox back in the early 2000s with the first Xbox after only 6 months of purchase. I beat Halo and oddsworld oddessy and that was literally it, the console had nothing else to play. Even back then I knew this would be the future of Xbox. This was happening while the PS2 was steam rolling with new exclusives literally every month. I quickly found a sucker willing to trade their PS2 for my Xbox and never invested in Microsoft ever again.

They had Halo, Gears, Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect, Crackdown (The original, not the garbage that came after), Condemned, Dead Rising, Bioshock, etc. They were even getting COD DlCs first back then too.

as a owner of a ps5 and a series x, i play my ps5 nonstop trying to complete all these exclusives i own. there isn’t anything i play on xbox and it just collects dust because i have no motivation to. i hope i get a reason to play it more this year and coming but for now, it’s not looking good tbh
