I think it’s important to remind some people that baby chicks are only possible IF there is a rooster in their flock… I know, I know common sense says otherwise, but I know a couple people that actually think that every “farm fresh” egg could have a chick inside and that’s why they only buy eggs at the store. I’m totally not joking! 😳🤦🏼‍♂️

We just got chickens a week and a half ago, and we had so many people asking us the opposite when we said we were only getting hens. "But, don't you need a rooster to get eggs?" Not fertilized eggs, just eggs in general. 😳

We had -45 degrees (when accounting for windchill) here in NH recently. I had a garage full of chickens. No one was happy but everyone was safe from the extreme temps and glad when it was time to go 'home'. It was by no means perfect but we made do and everyone survived. I had built a very nice chicken coop with an extremely large run and my chickens over time chose to sleep in the trees. Doesn't matter what the weather's like, rain sleet snow hail. Here in Oklahoma when we had the Arctic freeze come through all of my chickens survived living in the trees. I would go out and check on them and you really couldn't see them because they were covered in inches of snow, but as soon as that sun came up they were out and about.

I truly appreciate your perspective that each of us should do what we must to make this work for us. I have 3 hens and a rooster, appropriately named "Not da Boss," because in my backyard the ladies must rule the roost! I'm trying to delay rehoming Not da Boss until I get fertilized eggs, so I may raise some olive eggers. All 4 chickens hatched in October, and as of 7-10 days ago Not da Boss mounted my Cream Legbar. Still none of my 3 hens have started laying. So I'm "hiding" Not da Boss until we get fertilized eggs. When putting on the crow collar I heard your non-judgmental voice reassuring me in my head. Your voice and knowing the use of the collar is short-term kept me calm. (I stay in touch with all my neighbors, except one. The "except one" is the most likely to complain. So far only one neighbor has heard him crow; it was during the day, and she didn't mind at all.)

Hello sweetheart I love you videos I have a question I can't spell the Earth stuff. I was wondering does it hurt to put it on their food? Do you spread it around your chicken coop in the hens laying baskets? I just ordered me black oil sunflower seeds. They love all that the grubs. They hear me at the back door and they just start singing to me and I praise him and love them and when I love them the rooster attacks me and he's just a little full grown silkie. How do I get the rooster 2 quit attacking me I want my chicken to love me and when I pick up the chicken and love the chickens. I enjoy going out there it's really help me mentally to get me out of this depression. Even my psychiatrist that I go to for depression and anxiety he told me the chickens make me happy. When the rooster gets done attacking me and I'll lay the hen down for him to stop he goes over and start picking her. I wish my daughter would turn loose a bad rooster and go give it a nice home I've got scars all over me. I got big hens so there's he not mating with him cuz he's too little I should say short. Any help that you could give me will be most appreciate it. My daughter won't turn loose the rooster she loves him. He does not spur my daughter she's got to Phoenix hens. He doesn't even spur her when she would be hold. All they get is organic and mixed greens everyday and he needs to stop I'm the one that feeds some taken care of and keep everything clean an the egg collector. He should like me I bring all the feed keep everything clean fresh water everyday fresh food they eat vegetables with no salt in it. I just don't know why he does this to me

My 12 week old chicks are pooping on each other on their roost in the coop. The perches or space 18" apart. I don't know what I have wrong or what could be changed.

4 square feet of space - is that 4 cubic feet or 4 square feet of floor space?

Have you ever had an issue with chickens pecking each other’s feathers to eat them??

Are you still feeding your babies scratch and peck? If not, what brand are you feeding?

I have bushes for them to hide in during the day. But I have enough possums and raccoons to ever let them sleep outside
