The whole idea is to stop people from skipping the Sponsored segment. Be real most of just turn off the video or fast forward it when "Sponsored Segment" starts. D-Brand knows this and that's why they make it more interesting to keep people watching. Now imagine if I show you a normal Sponsor Segment and then a D-Brand Sponsor Segment (Something like this) and after few weeks or months, won't there be a higher chances of you remembering the D-Brand segment more? Also by trolling Linus by making memes they're essentially making free ads and advertisement because people will talk about this thing saying "Linus getting trolled" which ultimately increases their market value and exposure overall. Notice that they're only doing this with LMG related channels and not others like MKBHD etc. etc. Because LMG has the most spread across TH-cam
@@taubhickmitra I'd also like to think they only do it with Linus because he does some very out of the ordinary things sometimes, which clearly Dbrand is doing. I don't think just anybody would be okay with having a sponsor do this, but thats just me.
@@sinom Not really. A streamer that's popular like say Markiplier or Shroud can have quite a lot of comments come in. It's more to do with permanency, since TH-cam comments can be seen forever whereas twitch comments come "every so often" it can make it easier but usually it makes it more difficult to moderate. A lot of channels also have blind faith, or can't do anything else but blacklisting certain keywords. (That's how I think banning comments works on here, haven't run into it yet but I'm not a troll or a bot so that makes sense)
Personally , the z flip 3 is a huge life saver for me as ladies bags are getting smaller and smaller these days. Love that it fits into most tiny bags out there. 🤣🤣
I'm trying to transcend that BS and have fully switched to only wearing clothing with usable pockets. It's amazing. I have my essentials on my person instead of in a separate bag that I have to hold while putting my shoulder or elbow at weird angles
@@DizzyBusy Glad that is working out for you. 😊Most of my dresses doesn't come with pockets. Its just my preference to carry a small bag around and the z flip 3 being able to fit in the bag is just a bonus to me.
I have one. Trust me, having used the good old folding phones during my early 20's, when you fold that thing and put it in your pocket, you realize that's how a phone should have been all along.
I think half the problem is how big phones have gotten. I'm still using an LG v20, when I bought it it was advertised as a "phablet" It's just an averaged sized phone now. If I can find it, I'm probably going back to something smaller
YES!!! I feel like you can tell when a reviewer is A) someone who isn't petit and hasn't experienced using today's phablets with small hands/pockets. And/or B) too young to remember the pure satisfaction of flipping your phone open and closed lol
@@jenkenj This is just nostalgia. I had a nokia something or rather, a Razr, a Krazr, then a Sony Ericsson slide out keyboard phone. I have the luxury of men's pants, and most any phone fitting in my pockets, but very small hands for a man, and most 6 inch screens are perfectly fine in my hands.
This is not just nostalgia. I've been using flip phones most of my life , when i was a teen, i used two flip nokia phone. Then i have to change to smartphone as what it is, but i still try other flip phones from LG ,its called LG ice cream, an flip android phone with keypad . It sucks, its so slow. And then i change into nokia 2720 flip phone with Kai OS. Its good that it has whatsapp but camera is just garbage. I still use it once in a while though. Then i change my phone to s10 and then the z flip, and i can tell you, it feels like im coming back home.
I wouldn’t underestimate gimmicks like this, a couple days ago my grandma confused the entire family chat when she declared she wanted “the one that folds”.
I love Linus has access to all phones ever made, yet he still sticks with his Note9. Says a lot about the stagnation in flagship"s market (except foldables of course)
The note 9 is an amazing phone, a friend of min has one and honestly it's just about all the phone people need. The devices become more powerful every year and yet.. for most people most of that power is wasted in the moment so what ends up happening is that th longevity of that phone doubles if not triples. Samsung, being somewhat smart invented DeX primarily for this reason, they realized a Phone can do so much more than just be a "Phone" For a lot of people it can do all the things they need to. Just add a mouse and keyboard and you can have a desktop experience with a phone you dont need a 500 to 1000 dollar laptop to write E-Mails if your phone cna do it all the same. Though... I can't say it has caught on yet but it is a nice feature regardless.
Last Note with beloved Headphone Jack! Obviously, I also stick to my S8 + because of its Hi-Fi capability, and SD slot, besides, it still fullfils everything I could ask from a phone, so no need to upgrade
I am a 6 foot human 🍆 and use the 12 mini bc size is great for skinny pockets with no broken leg walk 😅 Would recommend I forget its in my pocket sometimes. The HTC aria and 5se and og iPhone went too much smaller. I wish they made a phone like the hp veer or pebble again. Cute small phones need a comeback. The finger in the camera frame on the mini happens sometimes too. Often forget it’s in my pocket.
Old flip phones either had rubber domes to protect the screen while closing. The small bezel on the flip makes me concerned where the contact points are
For me it is the opposite. I see the use of the flip for its pocketability, fitting in almost any trouser. The fold on the other hand is bulky, too wide for a phone yet too small for a tablet, and very pricey.
As someone that gets sucked into his phone every time I look at it, this could actually help me say "Nah... if I open it I won't get anything done for 30 minutes", then I could just check if I have notifications in the little panel in the front, or change tracks in my music, w/o the temptation of looking other suff.
I think it'd probably just tell you you have 4 notifications and you'll check them. Since it doesn't tell you, for example, who sent you that Telegram message, you'll still unfold it.
@@KnocksOfficial true, but I still think there's something to be said for the Flip's ability to reduce distractions. When my phone buzzes I often check just to see what kind of notification it is and end up wasting time on my phone. The Flip has a benefit for people like me that Linus seems to gloss over in his criticism imo

Kudos to samsung for actually putting in some innovation in the flagship smartphone market rather than just changing the camera positions and shrinking the notch 3 years from now Apple will also launch a foldable phone and will call it "The most innovative smartphone ever"
Apple will for sure copy as always Samsung..slap a different number on it and say first of its kind..Apple boys and gals will no doubt run out and be brainwashed by something we Samsung peeps know better!
My wife loves the idea of this size phone. She misses the clam shell phones. It's about having a normal size phone and being able to keep in hand bag with out all the covers and protectors for them. So yeah these do have a small purpose.
A good purse keeps your things seperate, but even really nice pockets fail and slap your keys against your phone screen sometimes. Flip phones had an edge for durability that had them hang around for a while after the candy bar style took over in certain demographics. Moms, people with dirty jobs, travelers... the fragile early-game smartphones just couldn't take the punishment. The water resistance is a major plus because this phone really needs to be seen as durable to be viable beyond the enthusiasts that want the trendy odd/nostalgic phone to play with. If this can become the next Nokia brick, and advertise it as a no case necessary smart phone, then I can see it catching on with the younger set.
@@sofiadragon6520 I use a old style non smart phone for when I'm off camping, fishing or on a building site, purely because it's very durable and cheap with a long battery life. Smart phone will stay in the van or a waterproof bag. I had a very old and battered Nokia 3310, dropped a lot over the years and it only died after being dropped in a river. It took over 10 years of abuse from me and I got it second hand. I did replace the battery a few times and the case. Touch screen phones aren't nearly as tough as a 3310 apart from water damage.
A female colleague of mine said she's thinking of getting one because it fits into her pockets better (she basically never wears a purse). IMO that's the dumbest reason to buy a phone like this, but then again I can't think of anything else that might persuade a person into getting one. For me the cons far outweigh any pros this phone might have.
I 100% want this form factor to eventually overtake the "standard" bar shape. It's not as much about using it, but about it taking up less room in a pocket or purse. Having a hinge that can allow the phone to be it's own stand is incredible for video calls. They've got a little bit further to go, but man I'm all about it!
linus pockets: will it fit ? - well yes ...we can fit another fold...( slides the 3rd phone inside the same pocket) girls pockets : best i can fit is a 1$ bill
It's been a couple months now since I've bought this tablet and it is great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxAxiUS5CgVC3j8FwNOHt037zhsquGQpXv The tablet is responsive and runs well. There were a few times that the tablet did an awkward thing where it would detect pen on at all times and wouldn't register finger press, but it is usually fixed by closing and opening either the screen or app. This is highly likely due to my excessive use for drawing which caused this and wasn't really very big. As I mostly enjoy using the tablet for drawing (and some light gaming), I would comment from that aspect that there is definitely more accurate pressure and drawing using a PC device and drawing tablet, however i find the moveablity of the tablet more enjoyable to draw on. Like how you can physically rotate and move a piece of paper around or even draw casually on your bed.All in all, as a tablet it is good, and as a drawing device can be good depending on what you want from a drawing device. It is definitely good enough if you just want to use it to take notes. For typing though I can't comment on the keyboard as I did not get the keyboard.
I really appreciate the relationship between Dbrand and Linus. Its entertaining for all of us. The flip series gets smaller in length but gets double the thickness. It is not better or worse. Its just a different level of space taking.
It's worse because reliability will be worse due to the unnecessary complexity of folding screens. You are paying a lot more money for a worse product (or one that is not any better)
@@AlohaBiatch I think this is arguable. Obviously their choice in materials leaves room for growth, but it won’t be long at all before folding screens, and even rolling screens as the comment above you points out, but all of these things will get much better in time. It’s expensive now because it’s new, soon it will most likely just become normal.
Dude, use a case. You don't need another point of failure to protect your screen. Also, pardon my incredulity, but cracked? You mean scratch right? Because I can't imagine stuff in your pocket structurally compromising the screen.
@Zack Smith lol yes a tech nerd calls me stupid because I don’t want to use a Samsung that can’t even beat iPhones from 2017 in performance. Just go outside dude
As a Flip 3 Owner what makes me love this phone - Fits nicely in pocket (Best feature) - Doesn't sacrifice much for the folding screen - Front display prevents me from evening opening the phone and wasting more battery. - Front display shows people what your taking
here were the things i liked 1.very versatile camera function. u can fold it at any angle and so the phone becomes its own tripod, and u can use the outer cover display for pictures and you can hold it like a camcorder 2. you can bend the phone a bit to make it fit with the topology of ur head, and u can close the phone shut to end the call like with the old flip phones 3. you can close the phone and therefore protect the inner display 4. you can close the phone to make it a lot more portable and it fits in pockets and purses better and stuff 5. it just looks cool and its bleeding edge tech. ik all phones that are coming out these days have bleeding edge stuff, but this is a lot more visible, and its a total chick magnet cuz so many people ask me about it
I was actually talking to a girl about this at one point and decided to see just what I could fit. Turns out I own a pair of shorts that can pretty much fit a full size rugby ball in the pockets....
This is kind of sad, but at those point this comment does better than most of my videos in terns of likes and comments:( Thanks for liking my bad joke!
Got mine for a week now. Its a great device and besides the Fold 3 the only SD888 Samsung device you can buy in Europe. Imo there are a lot of usefull tricks the folding mechanism brings with it. For ex. the multi window mode really makes senses with this device. In landscape mode you can make use of the full screen real estate and if you give the display a little bend you can perfectly enjoy a news article while not being to much distracted by the yt video that just plays on the other half of the screen. There is also a nice benefit for gamers going with a phone that consists of basically two halfs hinged together. The SoC sits in the top half which means the lower half will stay cool even under full CPU/GPU load. For me as a phone junky its also nice to have the second screen. Its perfect for a quick check of the time, weather and recent notifications. As long as you do not unfold the device you won't get into full blown smartphone zombie mode, which at least for me, significantly reduces screen on time.
The small screen on the front is incredibly useful for paying, changing songs, set a timer or making a quick voice note. Def not a gimmick at least for me. I can never go back to a phone that doesn't fold.
Yes, but then a compromised camera and experience with extra delicate screen, Won't iphone 12 mini be a better option?? I am super curious what would a women like a foldable screen or a small screen if given choice to fit their pockets comfortably 😅
@@prajwalmj810 afaik, it is often about the depth of the pocket and i guess samsung wins in this category. although i am hesitant to declare it a "women's phone" based on this factor alone.
@@prajwalmj810 For fitting in women's pockets? No, iphone mini wouldn't be better than this phone despite sacrificing other features. Thankfully I'm a guy with pockets inside my pockets so I can carry a big ol note.
the small screen is like the upgraded version of led lights in phones back in the days and im here for it cause i find those stuff extremely useful. not having to turn on your phone multiple times to see notifications
I actually have a lot of pocket, a regular phone fits and has enough space for more! Really depends on the type of pant though! Mom jeans are the best.
maybe they should just make bigger pockets than having to spend billions on r&d on something like this it genuinely pisses me off that everyone complains about it yet such a small issue doesn't get fixed the guys who design these pockets should be shot
The best argument I've heard for the flip is women's jeans. Lots of women's jeans have really shallow pockets that a regular phone can't fit in, but his might. That and small purses.
@@briti1543 for most women's jeans it would need to be 1/4th of the size. ^^' I just started to hate how even base models (S21 etc) have grown to a size where the phone presses against my hip when I sit down. This is what I was waiting for.
6:08 as a woman I was very jealous of the fact you can fit 3 phones into one pocket lol. I can only fit half of my Samsung galaxy note20 ultra. Will definitely be getting the flip 3!
I use the cover screen fairly often to quickly pay for things, change the song, and look at notifications. It's not SUPER useful, but it adds more utility to those who want it. The build quality is insanely strong too. I have absolutely no fear about flipping it open dramatically, and the free year of care Samsung includes eases my worries. I think it's a pretty cool phone, and its affordable as far as top tier flagships go.
Idk man what do you get from more compact size? Would you ever store something in your pocket together with phone anyway? I fail too see how ppl find this usefull. And not to mention one extra step before using the phone. Share your thoughts I'm curious.
@@tfamidoinghere6134 Some would say this phone caters to those who remember using the old fashioned flip phones that dominated the market before smartphones came along. That and there’s a novelty and special satisfaction to answering a call by flipping the phone open and flipping it shut when ending it.
@@tfamidoinghere6134 one of the advantages I can think of is that the screen is protected while it's shut.. it wouldn't sustain any scratches while inside the pocket with things like keys.. & even if u accidentally drop the phone while taking it out of the pocket, the display would be safe.. but IMHO paying flagship price for a non-flagship spec'd phone kinda balances out any advantage it has in the first place.. unless you are a huge flip phone fan and/or buying the phone entirely for its aesthetics
@@Ra-Hul-K I hadn’t thought about that, a protected main display is a great benefit. Plus £950 for Snapdragon 888, 120Hz, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage isn’t too bad considering the novelty.
The flip series is great. A big, protected screen in a small, wallet sized package. Plus major style points. Switched from a Flip to a Fold but I'm fond of both and never regretted owning it.
This got my hopes up for the 4 gen! I was so crushed that the first flip was a huge dissapoinment. Im really glad they arent giving up on this and make it a one off thing, but actually do their best to improve it. I love this idea alot especially since im someone who has slightly smaller hands then normal, and i can already see ALOT of situations how and when i would use the foldability. And the fact i can have both big screen and a small basic use screen when i really dont need to open up the phone, seems amazing to me. I decided since the next gen MIGHT come around late next year when ill get a job, i can save up for it and for now surrvive with my current giant :,D
🤦 ... The original Z Flip wasn't a "huge disappointment" at all... It reviewed well basically everywhere and sold solid numbers. Sure people had things they wanted improved/changed as is normal for any 1st gen device like the outer screen size, but that doesn't mean people didn't think it was a good phone! 🤷
My personal reason is the size. I always liked small phones, since Samsung Phones getting larger and larger and I was tempted to get an iPhone 12 mini. As Samsung announced this, I immediately pre-ordered it. So far I like it really much.
For me the flip makes more sense. With the fold it turns into a big square. The square is weird it doesnt make watching media any better and even reading is kinda the same. At least with the flip it turns into a wide-screen for movies and such. Either way I really want a foldable but still waiting for one that makes sense
There's the utility of the hinge aswell. Like being a compact or holding it self up for pictures and video. Being able to set your phone down when you video call, all with no extra equipment. Making it especially good for on the go. If you don't do those things all the time your probably not going to like the phone. Along with the portability it makes the phone very appealing to many everyday consumers. Especially women and older people. You don't have to sacrifice pretty much anything about a regular smart phone, and you get extra. It also cuts into the market of people who only have an iPhone for the size and the look. Its a cute phone with features those people actually care about. The only thing really holding it back (for the people who like it) is probably the price. It is new technology. Its a phone you have to buy with a trade in and a payment plan so people can't and won't just switch to this as soon as it comes out. I know when my phones due for an upgrade though the flip is what I want. And its not about having the best camera. I don't care about the best camera as long as it looks good.
I used to rock a Gameboy Advance SP all day, every day when I was a kid. The flip looks like it is around the same size as an SP. I don't see why anyone would complain about that. MIght even give people a feeling of nostalgia to have that square in their pocket once again.
I recently upgraded my OnePlus 7 Pro to a ZFlip 3 (got a $500 trade in through sprint) I loved my oneplus, but I actually like the zflip 3 a little more. With the exception of the hole punch, battery life, and the weak 15w charging, but the 120hz, lower profile in my pocket, water resistance is very nice.
I was so offended seeing him be able to fit all those 3 phones in his pocket when women's jeans COULD NEVER, not even mf MOM JEANS. Just wow. Trading in my note 20 for z flip 3 asap.
That moment when you own a single pair of jeans that fits your phone in the front, 3 are sewn shut, and one fits halfway to my knuckles. It's just hecking annyoing at this point. Ive stopped trying to use the front pockets alltogether
This is why I buy so many men's clothing items lol. Haven't found jeans that fit me well, but hoodies and tees and sweaters with normal useful pockets and still look cute have been amazing! And they fit nicely.
Dbrand truly understands advertisments for the internet. Sorry LMG, I always skip your ads. However, whenever dbrand comes around I watch it through the end. Their ads are just another part of the video. Heck, dbrand could just have a whole ltt video as an ad just bullying Linus. That video would in my assumption be very popular. I am not a person who really needs their services... buuuut if I somehow would need services like theirs, they will be the first I think of. lastly, I hate ads. Dbrand, great job with your ads, love them.
I almost preordered this because I love the idea of this folding phone. However. It's $1000 for a last gen camera and a small battery. It's better than last gen, but not quite worth the price yet.
My pants literally fall down cause of my phone size in my pocket going up stairs. If i have tight jeans on i feel like im going to crush my phone have the time. Having a half size phone but not losing the screen size is amazing. I just cant afford to justify the upgrade cost yet but as soon as I can you better believe i am getting a foldable phone.
The advantages that I see: 1. Unlocking isn't really an issue since you just close it instead of locking it. 2. The screen doesn't scratch inside a purse (that contains keys and such) and it doesn't need a screen-covering case because it's closed.
I almost got the flip because I thought that picking up/hanging up could be as satisfying as in flip phones, but then I realized that the fold's huge area would make reading Manga on bookwalker much better since you can't download to a e-reader with them
OKay hold up Linus. The external screen and the capability of seeing certain things on it is a _big_ game-changer for battery consumption. Why light the whole display just to show the time? Why have some graphic representing the time on a big screen when it can be on a smaller screen that's _just_ as informative? _It works._
I've been using a Flip since soon after it came out, and plan on getting the Flip 3, and this is by far my least favorite thing about it. The #1 advantage for a clamshell phone in my opinion is protecting the screen from shattering, and then they made it so both halves of the phone are glass so no matter how you drop it you're probably going to break it. Shout out to dbrand though, I bought their skins just for aesthetic but after a year I was considering getting insurance for my phone and needed to peel them off to check for damage to the glass, and after countless hard drops the glass was actually still fine.
When I saw the Flip 3, I realized many of the bugs have been worked out since it's the 3rd iteration. I love having a phone no bigger than a wallet in my pocket. I've had it for a week now and love it!
@@kashyap72 A fair few of both the Flip 5G and the Fold 2 ended up with white/grey lines down the centre of the crease where the flexible glass had stress fractured. Samsung were replacing the affected devices quickly (within 2 weeks for a lot of people) as it was happening within 1 year warranty, but as these 3rd gen devices use exactly the same glass it does raise a few questions on long term durability of these screens.
I mean every criticism this video makes about the Flip 3 can be similarly applied to the Fold 3: You are getting a phone replacement to replace the candy bar model but you get the exact same candy bar experience except it is twice as thick and bulky? The external screen is gimmicky when you could just unfold the phone and leave it there. Why get a phone that functions as a small tablet with a short battery life when you can get a real tablet? The Fold 3 does not even completely fold close. There is a small gap where all the dust goes in. Complaining about needing to move the Flip 3 in your palm a bit because it is too long? Well, with the Fold 3 you need two hands to handle it. Seriously, Linus can be watched for entertainment, but not for informed reviews.
I love this form factor, having the fold makes it easier to carry around and I really like smaller stuff. That being said I still don't trust them to make them durable enough yet.
I see you never owned a flip phone. The smaller size can also be an 'advantage'. For example, women's pockets are usually too small for regular-sized phones.
@@Waris13 yet almost everyone has one... And I'm not saying it doesn't have a good side, read it. I said it has a big disadvantage which is having to unfold it everytime
I’ve had the flip for a week now and I love the folded pager vibe for me the ability to just swipe and look at notifications or change music keeps me from just mindlessly hopping on Instagram or Snapchat
SO for me, I really like the compactness aspect of that vs. my S21, which is actually adequately compact. But yeah, the next flip may win me over IF it has (a) better camera; and (b) better battery. That said, I understand it may require the phone be slightly bigger.
I LOVE how samsung is going back to playing around with designs, just like phones did back in the day. Remember when new phones had cool design features, like phones made to be an mp3 player, phones that were designed especially for games, phones that were supposed to be as small as possible. Etc. For the last 10 years, its been nothing but minor changes in design, and just minor upgrades each year until we have these powerfull little Machines. But for the last 4 years or so, we get upgrades we dont need. Like 10000x zoom, which doesnt really look that great, all sorts of camera features we use a couple of times. But never again (and they are not even compatible with most apps) and batteries that are borderline useless. We are at the point where there is no need to buy the latest products anymore. And thats where the foldable phones come in. This is the next step. Especially the one that folds into a tablet. Unfortunately, the technology isnt quite there yet. It needs to look and feel seemless when unfolded, and the price is riddiculous a phone that is more or less a tester. And this one that folds in the middle, giving you a very thick brick, that is still way too big compared to phones like the iPhone mini. Its useless. I hope this catches on soon enough. With some competition in the folding phone market, especially from Apple, then we will reach great folding phones within just a few years. I would personally love an iPhone mini that folds into a tablet. Would be smaller than current version, but not at long, thin and awkward as they are now.
Only minor changes in the last 10 years? What about front cameras? Went from huge black bars -> notches -> retractable -> under screen Or fingerprint sensor: No fingerprint -> sensor in home button -> under screen sensor Those are huge changes in my opinion. Just in a few years we went from a significant part of the front not being the screen to almost everything on the front is screen.
For me, the idea of the Flip might be that adding an extra action to unlocking my phone, one that requires any amount of physical work, might subconsciously keep me from checking my phone out of sheer habit. This would help me reduce the time I waste staring at the home screen of my phone for no reason
@@Jehty_ I'm a flip case user and highly recommend it BUT you will not get the same satisfaction of slamming the phone shut after calls, or to focus on work.
What's amazing to me is Samsung has created the two best folding phones on the market that people can argue over which they prefer. I see some swear by the Flip and others swear by the Fold. Samsung is primed to win either way, and the pre order numbers are showing it. On a different note though, Linus is becoming the last person I want to hear talk about phones, lol. In most situation where you'd want to game on the go, you got some kind of bag with you anyway. In the few cases you don't, for those 5 minutes of boredom on the bus, you got you phone. Even Snake on my nokia 3210 was good enough for that. The thing is, once you shrink down small enough, you loose much of the benefits when compared to a modern smartphone. And that phone lives in your pocket all day anyway.
@@lunakoala5053 Fair enough. I still like smaller stuff though even if it comes at cost of comfort and power. I think your argument kinda works the other way too. When I'm already packing up my switch in a bag I could go all in and bring a bigger more powerful console (unless you intend to play outside ofc).
I had my zflip3 for 4 months now and I love it the screen is actually durable I dropped it once and no scratches except for a small non noticeable crack on the back of my phone you can only see it when you look closely it's that small but overall the folding screen it 10/10 condition
It's simple: not everyone has pockets large enough to fit an 7" phone and the walk comfortable. A 3.5-4" folded phone might be just right. For me, fold doesn't make any sense. You'll never use more that half of it's scree to watch a video. Productivity? Yeah, probably, but how *productive* can someone be on a double sized phone compared to a computer or even to a normal phone?
Have you ever used a Tablet with s Pen? Its i would say between PC and smartphones.. in the past i often used my Pc for longer tasks but now i can just use the tab s7. I suppose the fold 3 is the same
A couple of advantages of the flip3 are. 1. You have less compatibility issues with car phone holders due to it's size. (who wants to use navigation with half a phone) 2. You can prop it up and use the outer display as a smart clock on your desk
here are the advantages of the folding screen i came up with 1.very versatile camera function. u can fold it at any angle and so the phone becomes its own tripod, and u can use the outer cover display for pictures and you can hold it like a camcorder 2. you can bend the phone a bit to make it fit with the topology of ur head, and u can close the phone shut to end the call like with the old flip phones 3. you can close the phone and therefore protect the inner display 4. you can close the phone to make it a lot more portable and it fits in pockets and purses better and stuff 5. it just looks cool and its bleeding edge tech. ik all phones that are coming out these days have bleeding edge stuff, but this is a lot more visible, and its a total chick magnet cuz so many people ask me about it
My Girlfriend wanted this phone so much and I never understood why, like, it's a normal phone, maybe slightly worse because of the screen split part Well, the explanation was simply perfect and made 100% sense to me afterwards. We boys don't know how it feels like running around with tiny pockets in our jeans, or carrying around one of those small purses... And this is what this phone is perfect for!

Agreed, looks perfect to put in a clutch for the wife.
Not for long, rollable screens are around the corner and those will save both thickness as well in length.

My personal reason is the size. I always liked small phones, since Samsung Phones getting larger and larger and I was tempted to get an iPhone 12 mini. As Samsung announced this, I immediately pre-ordered it. So far I like it really much.
that the whole point Space, it saves space
For me the flip makes more sense. With the fold it turns into a big square. The square is weird it doesnt make watching media any better and even reading is kinda the same. At least with the flip it turns into a wide-screen for movies and such. Either way I really want a foldable but still waiting for one that makes sense

Boys: How many diagonal inches oh screen is there in my pockets right now?

@@Alpeyy definitely go for the s21 ultra
@@Alpeyy what do you have rn?
@Not RickRoll👇 Reported
@@Alpeyy It depends on how you use your phone, are you a heavy user?
I totally agree. My first thought about the Z Fold was that we're a docking stylus away from the big boy DS
Or when you actually do emulate Gameboy Advance games on your Flip 3, it literally looks like one!
I recently upgraded my OnePlus 7 Pro to a ZFlip 3 (got a $500 trade in through sprint)
I loved my oneplus, but I actually like the zflip 3 a little more. With the exception of the hole punch, battery life, and the weak 15w charging, but the 120hz, lower profile in my pocket, water resistance is very nice.

Agreed

@@DanOC1991 a belt won't save a phone from skinny jeans tho. I am also thinking of a folding phone when it gets a bit better dust resistance
Do you have elasticated jeans?
They are way comfier and probably exert less force on your phone.
nice editing marcus, i noticed the tinitus sound when linus tested the speakers.
For a second I thought it was MY tinnitus flaring up.
The advantages that I see:
1. Unlocking isn't really an issue since you just close it instead of locking it.
2. The screen doesn't scratch inside a purse (that contains keys and such) and it doesn't need a screen-covering case because it's closed.
I also think that these are going to become VERY popular with women, given their lack of pockets.

OKay hold up Linus. The external screen and the capability of seeing certain things on it is a _big_ game-changer for battery consumption. Why light the whole display just to show the time? Why have some graphic representing the time on a big screen when it can be on a smaller screen that's _just_ as informative? _It works._

Phone manufacturers:
*finally makes a phone that folds to protect the screen from breaking on fall*
*makes exterior out of glass*
I've been using a Flip since soon after it came out, and plan on getting the Flip 3, and this is by far my least favorite thing about it. The #1 advantage for a clamshell phone in my opinion is protecting the screen from shattering, and then they made it so both halves of the phone are glass so no matter how you drop it you're probably going to break it.
Shout out to dbrand though, I bought their skins just for aesthetic but after a year I was considering getting insurance for my phone and needed to peel them off to check for damage to the glass, and after countless hard drops the glass was actually still fine.
ye man FUCK GLASS BACKS!! ALUMINIUM FOR THE WIN
When I saw the Flip 3, I realized many of the bugs have been worked out since it's the 3rd iteration. I love having a phone no bigger than a wallet in my pocket. I've had it for a week now and love it!

@@hypo382 what line?
@@kashyap72 A fair few of both the Flip 5G and the Fold 2 ended up with white/grey lines down the centre of the crease where the flexible glass had stress fractured. Samsung were replacing the affected devices quickly (within 2 weeks for a lot of people) as it was happening within 1 year warranty, but as these 3rd gen devices use exactly the same glass it does raise a few questions on long term durability of these screens.
Does the Z Flip 3 screen feels good to swipe on like a normal phone or does it feel plastic ish?
I mean every criticism this video makes about the Flip 3 can be similarly applied to the Fold 3:
You are getting a phone replacement to replace the candy bar model but you get the exact same candy bar experience except it is twice as thick and bulky?
You're weird, imagine unfolding it everytime you gonna use it... It's just a disadvantage...
I see you never owned a flip phone.
The smaller size can also be an 'advantage'. For example, women's pockets are usually too small for regular-sized phones.
@@Waris13 yet almost everyone has one... And I'm not saying it doesn't have a good side, read it. I said it has a big disadvantage which is having to unfold it everytime
..& the fold seam through the middle of the display needs to be more subtle..

I like that you can open the phone to answer calls.
Also butt dialing is much less likely to happen.
I feel exactly the same way! I'm so glad other people have the same reservations.
Would be smaller than current version, but not at long, thin and awkward as they are now.
the battery life would be even worse than this and apple would still charge more
Ah yes, the period of time When Phones Were Fun.
Great read, d'accord!
Only minor changes in the last 10 years?
What about front cameras?
Went from huge black bars -> notches -> retractable -> under screen
Or fingerprint sensor:
No fingerprint -> sensor in home button -> under screen sensor
Those are huge changes in my opinion.
Just in a few years we went from a significant part of the front not being the screen to almost everything on the front is screen.
@@Jehty_ thats minor changes from each upgrade. Im saying we have come a far way, but making those changes over a span of 10 years? Thats slow.

The fact that it folds is all the uniqueness I need. People think it's a gimmick but now when u start using everyday, it's incredibly useful
I agree. Its like how linus found uses for the fold after daily driving it. I've mostly enjoyed my flip 4.
I’m into this phone format, the size is good to fit nice in pockets.
For me, the idea of the Flip might be that adding an extra action to unlocking my phone, one that requires any amount of physical work, might subconsciously keep me from checking my phone out of sheer habit.
This would help me reduce the time I waste staring at the home screen of my phone for no reason
Why not buy a flip-case?

In the few cases you don't, for those 5 minutes of boredom on the bus, you got you phone. Even Snake on my nokia 3210 was good enough for that.

(who wants to use navigation with half a phone)
2. You can prop it up and use the outer display as a smart clock on your desk
here are the advantages of the folding screen i came up with
1.very versatile camera function. u can fold it at any angle and so the phone becomes its own tripod, and u can use the outer cover display for pictures and you can hold it like a camcorder
2. you can bend the phone a bit to make it fit with the topology of ur head, and u can close the phone shut to end the call like with the old flip phones
3. you can close the phone and therefore protect the inner display
4. you can close the phone to make it a lot more portable and it fits in pockets and purses better and stuff
5. it just looks cool and its bleeding edge tech. ik all phones that are coming out these days have bleeding edge stuff, but this is a lot more visible, and its a total chick magnet cuz so many people ask me about it
Who cares!!!???
My Girlfriend wanted this phone so much and I never understood why, like, it's a normal phone, maybe slightly worse because of the screen split part
Well, the explanation was simply perfect and made 100% sense to me afterwards. We boys don't know how it feels like running around with tiny pockets in our jeans, or carrying around one of those small purses... And this is what this phone is perfect for!
