I Used a Bone Mace to Build an Account with Runescape's New Best Training Method!

- Runescape has received countless bosses that are killed for money, but recently jagex has released something difference. This week Scurrius the low level rat boss was released, but you mainly kill this rat for experience.
I thought it would be interesting to see how effective it is to kill this boss on a very low level account. What is the new player experience like? How does the experience compare to existing methods and can we make some money along the way.
So were going to hop onto a low level account and start completely from scratch. Can we build a new account effectively with Scurrius?

This is legit what they should have done instead of NMZ. A bunch of BIS training methods that introduce boss mechanics at lower levels.
Yep, I have a feeling my friends would have kept playing if they’d been able to practice mechanics like this.
RuneScape’s boss combat mechanics aren’t exactly friendly to new players lol - this boss remedies that.
NMZ came out in the first year OSRS was released. They didn't make a new OSRS exclusive boss until 2 years after release.
I mean tbf they made NMZ using only 3 Nokia flip phones and a russet potato

I just wish I could use the bone bow outside of the boss. It would be a nice way for Ironman to not have to do clues for the magic shortbow....
its honestly really nice to see a video about doing scurrius at the lower end of the bracket!
Step 1 pick up ground items from other players. To speed up this process I recommend going to Raids 3 and leeching off their purple drops. Then with your new 3bil gp go ahead and buy all BIS items. Now you're ready to battle scurrius.

I'm finding myself invested in this character now! I'd love to see more adventures with this fresh character, like what the best paths from 50-70 combat are in 2024.
respect for using a pretty new-ish acc, i hate seeing people try early game content with 99 stats and all they do is get a bronze dagger to hit for 20 hp
I've done all the raids and inferno etc, this boss is still one of the best pieces of content imo. My wife who is new to the game has had a go at it and is loving it and I cant wait to show her more bosses now shes getting prayers down
This boss has been the best for me to learn prayer flicking and learning late game mechanics. Great release by rs. Also love you content!
Love the fact that the boss is built around the idea of exp gain. I'll be fighting him and need to go up to get more prayer pots and then he'll drop one, or he'll drop some minor food if need be.
Needs a loot buff
You can eat from the food piles as well if you didn't know

Nah has nothing to do with it lol. I have very bad ping and been doing scurrius al low level with very cheap gear and i've got pet at 300kc and an extreme amount of spines.

This is the scurrius content i wanted to see. As a new bronzeman it took me a bit to try it out myself because all i saw online was peolle with firecapes and scythes doing him. Thanks a ton for this content.
So, this weapon is really effective against rats. I'm guessing it's best in slot for PvP now??

Mid lvl accounts can expect 80k-150K+ exp/ hour. Depending on gear and lvl. I've enjoyed using magic to kill the boss due to extremely fast magic exp. If you prayer flic all you need to bring is a few food and three prayer pots.
Solo in a public lobby and you will get less gp per hour but more exp. While in a public lobby solo scurry has 1500hp. More stats can be found on wiki. Like %42.5 increase in exp.
Private is revered with less exp and more gp. While in private the boss has 500 hp.
150k exp an hour + about 350-400k gp an hour makes this boss great for training to 99.
Getting back to osrs after 3 or so months. Nice to see a fun rebuild video.
Not sure if it’s been raised yet but it’s quite a bit better for exp/h to do non instanced just so you’re aware, great boss great addition to the game great video
So from the fact that you max hit the small rats with the bone weaponry, the best call probably if you are lower level in a mass world that kills really fast would be to attack the rats in priority when they come out.

My group iron was at a perfect level when the boss was released, around 50 combats. It was our groups first good way to get decent high alchs, and now 100 kc later I'm close to 70 melee stats

reminds me of the old wild looter days haha. I remember being 12 years old, and I had a looter account that would literally make mills a day just looting like a rat. Especially if you managed to live with big fights deep in the wild by mage bank where they would drop ahrims & more. (Back when barrows armor was best armor in the game).
Idk why but I laughed so hard when he just picked up all the dropped food after not getting kill credit in the beginning of the video
If RuneScape keeps adding ways for mains to help friends level we might get more players

I think it's called "Mace" instead of flail because of lore reasons related to Vyres, you have to craft the ivandis flail because it's unusual and unpredictable movements as well as the material it's made from allow it to be more effective against vyres.

you dont drop items on death for years now. it was just people dropping items for new players to get extra rewards cuz they felt like it
since the weapon adds a flat 10 damage increase to your max hit, would this be the new meta training for attack pures with 1 strength? get 50 attack from usual methods then spam scurrius with the mace? if they usually max a 2-3 they could be hitting 12-13 instead

I am just getting back into osrs after a long hiatus... I wish this boss was f2p. Having to farm for keys to do any bosses blows, and its only single combat. Bossing with friends would make it so much more fun.
Question.. How'd you get those dragon items and the granite maul? were those dropped by other players or something?

@@wtfnickhaxthey were. One time i was grouping scurrius and someone started dropping drag scims everywhere 1 at a time, luckily i got one and was 60 atk, safe to say i quit procrastinating doing monkey madness 1 shortly after 💀😂
You should honestly be raising your attack with whatever strongest prayer you have available, especially when you're less than 43 and can't use overheads. its free accuracy and every little bit helps at low levels and beats the prayer going to waste
The low level prayers basically don't matter untill you have a quite high max hit
You can use amethyst arrows with the bone shortbow even though yew shortbow is limited to rune arrows.
Mace is great for attack pures since it ads mins hits, probably best training weapon.
I’ve been wanting them to add special drops from slayer monsters that attach to a slayer ring for ever, that can be used for an extra damage bonus. Like a Kurask Bone, Gargoyle Toe, Hydra Spine, Nechyrael Heart. Make them like 1/10,000 drops, but when you attack them to a slayer ring, you always have a 15% increased damage/accuracy while wearing the ring. It would make so many more creatures viable for training, because you got lucky with one of their special drops.

Ultimate Flipping Challenge: You can ONLY flip items you pick up on the floor of the GE. For example, if you pick up some raw chicken, you then "unlocked" the raw chicken flips. Sounds weird but it's quiet fun! :)
Might be one of the best bossing additions to the game so far, need more low level bosses! And mid level.

What is that ghost helping you out?
the blue ghosts you see are thralls. They're summoned npc from the arceuus spellbook that deal a bit of extra dps for a minute. He is killing Scurrius on a mass world and has the runelite entity hider plugin on so those are definitely other people's thralls, as they are a reward from the A Kingdom Divided quest. (btw the ghosts are magers, there's also green skeleton rangers, and red zombie meleers, but they are less commonly used)

I think playing on a low level vs the “new player” experience are two very different things. You have years of osrs content. Where as someone who’s new to bossing may have a hard time even at the Rat King.

@flippingoldschool not sure how to get your attention so here goes. My main, Neo Archmage got hacked and they stole my beer collection... sad day. You can see on the ge tracker when i got hacked because beers plummeted. Do with that info what you will and keep up the great vids!

Ah you bastard, you got me pumped up. That's not a 3 tick weapon, it's 4. Rapid just makes it a tick quicker. I was hoping we got a weak blowpipe that was only good for rats

100kc and i still haven't gotten the spine drop.
for ranged training if you have access to them swamp crabs are better since they are weaker to range great video though lots of good info.
15:00 wow I don't think this is OP, but it's WILD you can just skip the worst levels like this without even training it at all.
Good display of early lvl acct xp, but 71k, 60k and 170k from drops that aren’t even from the boss, and sniping mvp loot left on floor… “almost making 1m” by the end of the video (~400kc) is, in most cases, not realistic. This boss is mainly for xp unless soloed, and 9 times out of 10 there will be someone in 4-5b in gear who is consistently mvp in mass worlds hunting fastest kc/mvp for pet. I would like to think a channel primarily focused on gp would be crystal clear about this.
What isn’t clear? Did you choose to not listen every time he said the gp is poor but the exp is great? He even said that it’s very difficult to get MVP in mass worlds, AND explained with visual aid that because of that you are going to get even less gp.
I had the same idea and made a new acount to test the boss, i think there is a mayor design flaw whit no rat weapon it's very hard to get the first kills solos, and when the hipe dies very few people will be killing in in group, so it defets the point of a "tutorial" boss if the dificulty is so front loaded, they should really consider leting people get the first spine whit a quest or something similar.
I think it's pretty doable as long as you're a main.
At worst you can loot.
But I tried on an iron without pots and at 65 combat literally cannot out dps the heal faze
And the rats chip damage forces you to keep pray melee up while healing = no p pot you die.
It's a walk in the park around 75 combat established gear and equipment but honestly impossible on a 60 combat iron unless you have d scim and p pots
@@Candyman1996.e That is the problem yeah you can loot now that you have main accounts fishing for the pet that is going to dry out soon ish. And new player's will get stranded. The question on how to tackle this whit a low level ironman is interesting, i think your only hope are probably gruby key's.
@Erbmon my only iron is a GIM and my friend is higher so I do have access to everything technically.

The boss is meant for early midgame, not new beginners. You need at least lv l50 combat in magic/range/melee, so you can deal decent dmg with his designated weapon. That would be a good start, not lvl 38

I think one thing that many people just glaze over with Scurrius is those rat spawns. They give you bonus XP. It's a massive boost to xp, especially for a low\mid level account.
Also getting ANY money while progressing account is massive on a low\mid level account. Every time you go online to see people talking about money making, the main focus is always on money, which is usually least insteresing, mind numbing content like resource processing and it pretty much kills any enjoyment of playing the game. Scurrius strikes a good balance (i would even say it's too good) of giving you a satisfaction of progression, while also giving you plenty of drops to gear up and sustain your other activities.
