It takes 'patience' to work through one's failures. It takes 'skill' to manipulate the medium into the desired shape. It takes 'artistry' to see the finished product before even starting. You sir have all three...amazing skills.

I think when you show a couple of mistakes or problems along the way to making something so well made it makes you seem as if you are nearly as imperfect as those of us watching you. Talent is often the drive to keep working until you achieve the result that you want. Never ever give up.

This is gorgeous work! Thanks for taking the time to share, and PLEASE keep making new stuff - so very cool to see someone making so many high quality tools themselves and repurposing things along the way that would otherwise be thrown out.

Don’t have the tool I need, but I do have a lathe, I can make one!! It’s gonna be amazing to see what you come up with over the course of the next 10 to 20 years! Your talent is equal to Tom Lipton, Robin Renzetti, and Stephon Gottswinter!

I love your vids man! You quickly went from some dude tinkering in his garage to a precision machinist nearly overnight. You seriously don’t understand how impressive a lot of the stuff you do is. I’ve been a machinist for a few years and I’m still in awe of a lot of your work! Please keep the toolmaking videos coming, not enough TH-cam machinists do fun to watch toolmaking. Videos like yours are what inspires people to join the trade and keeps manual machining alive! Next time try making a cylindrical grinding jig. You have all the tools necessary to make one and you certainly have the skill. And as of now only 1 big you tuber has made one, Stefan. He’s big league, I wanna see you there too!

A tip for those small easy to bend parts, take a piece of aluminum and drill and tap a hole for that thread, screw it in tight and it won’t bend, it can still shear so to mitigate that, bore a small shoulder that the knurled section fits tightly into, this will take all the tangential load off the threaded section and save you so much frustration

This illustrates the dangers of letting an artist play with machine tools... it raises the bar to an unfair level. I was perfectly happy with my surface gauge before, now I guess I'll just melt it down and take up golf.
