That is so true. I have a fair dinkum home shop, with machine tools, welding, etc. available to me, and I am completely stymied by my desire to make a fine-feed handwheel for my Bridgeport! I would need to buy a bunch of expensive tooling I don't have... so I'll wind up buying the real thing for $70 because the $10 plastic one will NOT feel satisfying to use. *sigh* Further evidence you can never have too many tools / too much tooling.

Very well done. A nice cleanup of the original Multifix and I like the handle. I was talking to the computer screen as you were tempering the end done! A very nice straw colour. A good point to stop for an item that will see such heavy use. You will enjoy your tool holder for years to come!

He seems to have access to the world's best boneyard / mystery supply of lightly rusted, heavily encrusted, perfectly serviceable machines and tooling, which he then takes home, spends zillions of hours (I'm not convinced he sleeps) restoring and returning to as-new condition with genuine TLC. I don't know whether he has teachers other than TH-cam, but if so, they should be damned proud of him. And if he is self-taught, then so much more pride is justified. (yet he seems humble, too. He's in my Pantheon of Machine Shop Mafia here on YT, including Adam (Abom79), Tom Lipton (Oxtoolco) and This Old Tony.
Never seen a boring head used that way. Excellent work. You set the standard pretty high for us to follow. The bad part is not many will ever reach your level of skill but it gives a level to shoot for. All the best.
@@kevinbreslin5718 a 12-point box end similar to most wrenches makes securing it on a fastener much less fidgety and broaching the 12 points on the rotary table/dividing head is WAY more accurate to keeping the cuts perpendicular to the faces than trying to file them to shape since it can't be cut with an end mill. That, and trying to file 4340 would be the furthest thing from a dance around the maypole.

Is that the original big one you got a couple of years ago? If so, that was in a sorry state when you got it, but now it's brand new again! Well done!
Gday Cà Lem, absolutely beautiful handle, the internal spline is a perfect fit, I really need to make a ball turning attachment, there has been a few projects that I could of used one, great video as always, thanks for sharing, cheers Matty

The 'cinemaphotography' is really great, love the higher res (compliments your work) and I think the lighting works very well. The editing has tension in the beginning (at least) because I don't understand the method, the 'solutions' and your 'method' only becomes clearer as the video progresses, leaving me mentally oohing and ahhing as I realize what you're doing. IIRC the word technology comes from the Greek word Teknos which means 'art' or anything created by 'hand' or with intention. What I see in your videos is artistic, both in production and subject... The work you are doing AND the way you present it ;') As always, thanks!

Awesome project, the surface finish in the lathe on this 4140 is superb. Loved the boring bar ball turning trick. Do you mind sharing the geometry of the end mill you placed in the boring bar ?

just 2 degrees relief ground off the end of it. Square should be fine though.
Few weeks ago I finished refurbishing my Multifix holders, but I have painted them yellow ;-). I will post the process once I find the time to edit the footage. Nice work as always, and as always your films are too short, because they are a joy to watch!!!
Great job on the handle and love the finish. I think the Multifix Tool Holders are the best quick change tool system around and are fairly easy to make up if you can't afford to buy them new. Just Subbed in and really like what you do. Cam
