I planted Hinnomaki Red gooseberry 3 weeks ago (early March) and still no sign of life, no buds swelling or leafing. I mixed in aged composted manure while planting and have watered twice a week and mulched with straw. Is there still hope for life? They looked "deadish" when shipped to me and still no sign of life.

Our gooseberry plant stopped producing after I pruned it a few years ago. Still growing fine just no fruits. Anything I could do to fix it?

Common causes of these bushes not fruit include over pruning, lack of fertilizer, too much fertilizer, and dry soil conditions. Also brids.

Mine are five years old and I still have no berries I'm getting ready to pull them up

Give it a year or 2, gooseberry mostly fruit on 3-4 year old wood.

I've got a Hinnomaki Red gooseberry and wanted to get another variety. Would you recommend Black Velvet, Invicta or Hinnomaki Yellow?
