Both car a very good and they both differnt in the own ways. I think the ep3 is better for b roads it handles well. The gti is more safe then the type r. The gti more heavy then the type r.
Type r is more driver focused as it has no driving aids, the golf gti is still a very good car and just depends on the driver, i personally prefer the type r due due to its raw driving capabilites but i still enjoy the GTI, in my opinion in most ways they are as good as each other and just down to the drivers preference.

Gearbox on the prefacelift is the same as the facelift.
Honda all day long for me, you’re ‘buzzing” when the vtec engages and is more of a focused car than any VAG product.
Both are very good cars. Love them !!
