- The Denver Nuggets were able to claw back in the second half and beat the Los Angeles Lakers 108-103 last night. LeBron James and the Lakers led by as many as 11 in the second half but then Jamal Murray had 23 points in the fourth quarter on six-of-seven shooting to lead the Nuggets to a Game 2 win. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react to Lakers loss in Game 2.

Are we sure AD is stronger, bigger, and more fierce than the Joker? Last time I checked Jok is a two time league MVP and is cooking AD and everybody else. And I don’t recall Jok ever really missing a significant amount of games due to injury. Not to mention, he might have some “off” games but never has been accused of disappearing. This is coming from a Lakers fan. Put some respect on The Jokers name.

I think the loss is really on LeBron, he had a terrible game. That missed dunk could have changed the whole game, Denver would have called a time out and lakers would’ve been up 10 or 12. Him being 0-6 from 3 is unacceptable.
On top of that he passed on a last shot in the first game deciding to hand it off to Austin Reaves. Come to think of it, Lebron seems to hate taking shots that are game winners unless the shot is incredibly low %. Comes off as someone not wanting to be fully judged for missing a good look to win the game.
Don't forget about the 2 easy layups he left short.

As a Laker fan I totally agree they’re outplaying us. But game 2 was on mostly Bron and secondly AD for his poor play.
I say mostly Bron because he missed too many easy layups and a dunk that had the momentum about to shift when we were up. Not to mention they couldn’t stop him from going to the basket but he continued to jack up bad three after another and then Denver is off to the races on a fast break off the miss on their home court where they have the benefit of their crowd. He shot 0% from three smh.
Ad had a missing game again but it’s not helping him when we refuse to punch the ball inside to him and take advantage of Denver having no rim protection but we rather take bad three’s. Bron’s decision making was terrible period.

That is why he keeps jacking up 3 pointers, he is exhausted. LeBron James has been in the NBA since Jamal Murray was 6 years old and Nikola Jokic was 8 years old. There is no possible way the man can stay on level 10 against those guys for that long. That's why Denver has a gear that the Lakers aren't capable of going into. Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic are not scrubs, LeBron James is just too old to outplay those guys for 40+ minutes in a 7 game series.
The point is is the nuggets are playing at home… The role players are going to play better at home. The same is true of the Lakers. It’s the first team that manages to win a game on the road that’s going to win the series. The Lakers almost beat the Nuggets in both games one and two they were very close highly contested games. The Nuggets haven’t done anything yet.

If your looking at Jokic's lack of scoring in those 4th quarters as a measurement of his impact on the outcomes of those games then you're not paying attention. He's drawing an insane amount of defensive attention, and instead of forcing his own offense he's allowing his more than capable teammates to do their thing and it's culminating in wins.

Jokic doesn’t need to dominate when his team is playing well. It’s wild that 23 17 and 12 is a meh night for Joker.
Laker might have figure him out late in game 1, but Coach Malone knows how to make adjustments also. Denver is a gritty team and they have a lot of games played together over the past few years too. Give the Nuggets some damn credit.

This is why I hate talking heads on TV that only see the game through the box score. Jokic was doing what all offensive engines should do and drew the majority of the attention of the defense throughout the whole night. In the first half, Denver’s role players missed good looks, but due to the shot quality, they eventually started hitting shots in the fourth quarter. If Jokic doesn’t exist on that team, they don’t create the makeable shots for themselves. Also, if we dissected the plays they hit threes on in the fourth, how many of those were set up by a Jokic screen or pass? So Jokic not scoring in the fourth is only one way to look at his impact. There are other ways.
Such a well executed game by the Nuggets imo. Jokic did everything to keep them in it until the 4th and just needed someone to come along then Jamal delivered.

As a neutral fan of basketball, I enjoyed the game. The one big turnoff was the biases of Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. They were both pro-Lakers but Jeff Van Gundy behaved more like a fanboy than a professional broadcaster...literally arguing all fouls, non-calls, goaltending's, 50/50 balls, etc. in favor of the Lakers and against the Nuggets. ESPN covered the Lakers more than any other team even when they were in 13th place most of the season. As a fan, I would like the coverage to be spread out to include less known players and small-market teams.

Lebron single handedly lost them that game with all the missed layups and bad three pointers. All of those missed opportunities are what made them lose a close game. LeBron played a great defensive game against Jokic but I think all that running that Jokic does wore him out. You can't shoot 3's when you're tired. If LeBron passed up on the 3's the Lakers might have gotten away with one because Rui and AR are playing out of their minds. That said, Jokic played very good D, too, and he played 42 minutes. I wish these guys would get over their Lakers fixation; the Nuggets are favored for a reason.
What Skip doesn't understand is it takes a lot of energy to drive the ball every single attempt, plus they are in Denver dealing with high altitude and like you said Denver likes to run in transition and Lebron is 38. This game was essentially the honest truth about this year's Lakers team. The sun is setting on LeBron, AD is inconsistent, the team as a whole is pretty good and unlike GSW, this team has exceeded expectations and has more than maxed out. The Nuggets are the better team in virtually every statistical category and we should be pleased with such a competitive series. No need to be distraught or let down because this is what playoff basketball is about. The best teams and not just your favorite players, advances to the championship game.
