    Very nice job. Not as many of those locks in the USA. My husband and I love the look of the EU door locks.
    God bless your beautiful country 🙏

      Hey Lizzie. Thank you for watching.
      Myself and my wife were in New York a couple of weeks ago and I must say, the locks don’t look as secure as what we have here in the UK.
      However. New York was stunning and I can’t wait to one day go back ☺️🇺🇸

      Thank you for your reply. Your absolutely correct. Please be safe while visiting New York as it's an extremely dangerous place. Unfortunately we have a lot of crime in the USA at this time. God bless 🙏🎄

    When marking up and drilling the euro profile holes and the keep I like to run a wide piece of painters tape and then do all marking up/alignment stuff on the tape rather than the wood. I find it makes for a tidy a job and great if you want to see your markings and verify that’s it’s correct prior to drilling etc. Worth trying next time and see if you like it. Best

    4:11 Yes it’s a Euro deadlock in the MLA Exam.
    You won’t have any issue passing with your standard of work.
    That’s assuming you haven’t done it already!
    When I did the MLA exam years ago it was,
    Install a rim cylinder & deadlock
    Open a rim cylinder & deadlock
    Then a written exam .

    You have to love those mortice jigs. I fitted a euro deadlock the other week but it wasn't a thumbturn, I stuck in a Lathams 30/30 euro cylinder. I did exactly the same when fitting the keep, right where there was a screw. I used a hacksaw blade.
    Great video.

    🤔 Andy on the MLA test I think you have to cut out a mortice in a door by hand using the old fashion method and also I think you have to cut a key to a 3G110 by hand also but don’t quote me on that though bud cause am not 100%.😩🤫 yes I know a lot of thinking there, it hurts trust me.🥴😵‍💫🤯

    • @brighton_locksmith
      @brighton_locksmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes mate I think you are correct. I think you also have to open a BS deadlock and do a written exam as well! I think it’ll be the written part I’d struggle with the most 😐

    Another great video Andy. Nice tip regarding the square for the centre of the euro, how do you calculate the height of the euro against that center line so that it is in line with the lock when fitted?

    • @brighton_locksmith
      @brighton_locksmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Colin. I hold the lock on the door, mark the top and bottom of the faceplate, mark the top and bottom of the lock case and mark the top and bottom of the keyway or in this case the euro keyway. Then I use my square to transfer all the marks around the the other side of the door 👍🏼
      I hope that all makes sense 😁

      @@brighton_locksmith Thanks Andy all understood, thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me. Keep those Videos coming they are great, but keep costing me money buying things I didn't know I needed but now cant do without :) . The only thing I struggle with is it looks like you use a impact driver to screw things in and when I try that the head strips so maybe I just don't have the knack yet.

    odd mix of brass and brushed steel and chrome finishes. Don't you get all brass profile cylinders and night latches ?

    • @kirakira4704
      @kirakira4704 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He is taking advantage of the Versa locks to save carrying double the amount of stock by the looks of it (they have brass and chrome on them so “work for both”). I do the same, works for me.

    • @brighton_locksmith
      @brighton_locksmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate. Yes there was already a chrome night latch but witch a brass cylinder, and a chrome pull on the front.
      I didn’t have a brass cylinder in the right size, but given the mixture of finishes going on anyway I thought it fitted in well 😄
