I have been using SnagIt for years. Love it! I use it to record my lectures for students who are out of class. With COVID changing how we deliver instruction for the 20-21 school year, my district has agreed to purchase licenses for every teacher in our district. Watching your video, I feel like I’ve only been using 20% of the tools available. Thanks so much!!

Been using Snagit for years, as it's one of the approved-for-use programs at my employer. Mostly I use it for simple or scrolling screen captures, but sometimes for instructional videos or for webinar captures. Two suggestions I have for TS, 1. Include a feature to highlight the cursor as it moves on the screen and 2. for webinar capture it would be convenient if there were a timer settings so that it could end a capture session at a given time or in x minutes.
    Keep up the great work!

Hey Steve! Snagit is a great tool for teachers. I taught our language teachers how to use the FREE extension (back in the day; sadly that's gone) to record feedback for student essays. They would put the essay on their screen and while recording, do any highlights and markup necessary while speaking at the same time. The students LOVED it. Thanks for reminding me about Snagit.

Hey, Steve...if there was ever an app near and dear to my heart...it's SnagIt! When Bill Hamilton (founder of TechSmith) first launched SnagIt (then Windows-only) I was the co-owner of a company that was privileged to promote it worldwide. TechSmith is one of those rare-breed homegrown companies that you simply fall in love with because they care. They cared about their employees, their customers, and they wanted SnagIt to be the best of its kind...I think they've certainly succeeded, especially to have weathered the competition for all these years. I think Bill's daughter now runs the company, but I'll bet he'd be proud that I still have (and use) an old turquoise-colored coffee mug he gave me back then. That mug...just like his company, has withstood the test of time. Bill, wherever you are, I still think of you with my morning coffee!

I Love snag it - been using for years. Once in a while, I need to send a screenshot for business. I can show my customers where their cabin is on a ship or location of the a resort with notes and arrows. I get a lot of comments , it makes it clearer to customers. I should learn more about video use.

I've used Snagit since version 1.0 and still have not used all the capabilities. Every day I am online, I use it multiple times. Version 19, released this week (October 23) is the best yet! I urge everyone who has it to upgrade ASAP and always get the maintenance agreement. I can hardly wait to see your review of Version 19, @Steve Dotto :-)

I have been using Snagit with Camtasia for years. It's an awesome tool but YOU, STEVE, have just made it more awesome.
Here's the thing about you... YOU help people like myself use software more fully and completely and get much more benefit from it.
HOW ABOUT doing a Snagit training and exposing all the features and uses of it?
BTW... still waiting for that return ping you promised.
Also, Camtasia is so easy to learn that in a couple hours on a Sunday afternoon I learned basic video editing, including how to zoom in and out and do animated lower thirds. When I started I had never done any editing at all.

    • @CharlieArehart1
      @CharlieArehart1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@RemediosNaturales_es the differences are about each tool's primary purpose. Snagit focuses on capturing screenshots (think, a picture of the screen), which can then be edited/marked up in powerful ways. It can also now capture videos, as Steve demonstrated.
Camtasia instead focuses on capturing screen recordings (think video of the screen) and)or video from a camera, with many powerful tools for editing/marking up and packaging such recordings.
The difference between the tools used to be more clear (screenshots vs screen recordings) but each tool has added a little that the other does--while each still does many things that the other does not.
Love both tools, and always enjoy seeing Steve talk up such classics as well as newer or lesser-known tools.

Every 2 years I pay a 2-year maintenance agreement on Snagit it updates quite alot. I've had it since year 2000-ish. On videos I have the microphone off so it captures system audio only. 90% of my use is capturing images though not video. When I capture video I select-save it as an .mp4, and .jpg for an image. I don't seem to have video with text.

SnagIt is brilliant. One of those must have tools. Have used it since it first came out and would be a day goes by I don't use it.
The problem with capturing so many images to store is that I can never remember what I captured or when so need to scroll all the way through to find it and that may be over years.
I'd like to see tags so I can store it for easy retrieval - sort of like Evernote! Give it a tag and brief description because who really knows why you captured it in the first place! :D

But i would have to have a link showing where it is on the floor plan and then taking you to the image when clicking on the number. Is that possible?

Thanks for the video! Does Snaggit have hotkeys for taking a screenshot, going into edit mode, and saving after the edits? I am trying to find a screen capture tool that can keep up with real-time discussions when we are planning requirements changes to websites. I want to be able to take a screenshot of a web page, mock it up with highlights, arrows, and annotations, and save it without stopping the natural flow of the conversation. Typically the process has been too slow, so project managers tend to write requirements later, often without any visuals, resulting in less clarity.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Dropbox Capture!

Why do i have an annoying Yellow boarder in the video that was captured? I did a 1080/720 area but the recording did the whole screen and kept the Yellow boarder.

Can you do the thumb video while presentation in snagit? If not, how are you doing it

Eye-opening, Steve! Is Snagit suitable for 1 to 7 minute "tips of the day (or week)" or is ScreenFlow a better tool? Thank you and a Joyful Thanksgiving.

It can, but you cna;t do the editing and composition work, it is not a "screencasting" app but a screen capture app with some editing. Screenflow is still much more!

Thank you, Steve. Screenflow will be a better choice for our business. Snagit, then, appears to be a "Vidyard Go-plus".
