What a great interview, I found this so interesting! I'm a New Zealander living in Germany and my husband was born in Oświęcim but moved to Germany as a child. He still speaks Polish fluently and feels a strong connection with the culture. The first time I traveled to Poland with him I instantly fell in love with the culture and Polish people not to mention the cabbage rolls! (Golabki)
True that! Germans tried to erase the Polish culture by renaming all the cities they conquered. They even renamed countless streets. So just to clarify: there are no Polish cities that have a German sounding name.

Tourism, France is still the most visited country in the world despite terrorist attacks. Mostly because it's pretty and for Food lol. In short, lots of things. Also, the weather is more diverse, and the airports are linked to a LOT of countries worldwide (CDG is HUGE), we also have colonies... (not that it's one thing to be proud of, but it makes a country stronger) which leads to the language itself being spoken in a lot of countries and makes it a more accessible and known culture. I'm French, but I don't live in France. I like it, but it's not the best country when it comes to IT, or banks. Since I work in Finetech (so both IT and banks) I make better money elsewhere on that matter. If it wasn't for that, I'd go back. Poland seems great tho. Great growth, I'm sure it's an interesting place to invest in, with a very rich culture, interesting people (I've met few poles where I live), and a crazy hard language to learn, but I find it sounds very nice. Worth to learn I think!

Poziom niektórych komentarzy jest zatrważający. To jest kulturalny kanał, o ciekawych tematach, które nie są szeroko omawiane. Kiedyś mieliśmy Polandie na WP, teraz mamy Kult America. Chcecie szacunku w życiu, szanujcie innych, nie zachowujcie się jak bydło. Reprezentuj kraj, zamiast potwierdzać stereotypy o polskim, wiecznie narzekającym bucu.
Posłuchaj naszych rodaków gdziekolwiek na Świecie. Gdy ktoś idzie i klnie - jest to Polak. Oczywiście nie znam wielu języków, ale typowe przekleństwa wplatane w język są tylko przez Polaków. Stoi kolejka rodaków na lotnisku - część otwarcie głośno klnie, a przecież inne nacje znają nasze przekleństwa. Nie słychać tego u Rosjan, Ukraińców, Anglików, Francuzów, tylko Polacy. Zwrócenie uwagi kończy się zdziwieniem "o co mi chodzi?". Supermarket - głośno zachowująca się grupka - Polacy - klną głośno i dosadnie śmiejąc się.
Nie będę kulturalny wobec kłamstw. Tutaj cytuje komentarz innego użytkownika "Francuzi pracują statystycznie o 18,5 dnia mniej niż Polacy. Według ostatnich dostępnych danych OECD w 2013 r. przeciętny Polak przepracował 1918 godz. a Francuz (1489 godz.) Panie Francuz nie umywacie się do nas jeśli chodzi o przepracowane godziny."

What a great interview! My fiance is a Polish, he moved here in the Philippines for 16months most of the time he enjoyed his experiences here but like what they said "There is no place like home". Now he is back in Poland, right after our wedding next year our plan is to settle down there. I wonder how it will be for when it comes to adoptation and adjustment. I am really curious for that. 😀
Miałam niedawno okazję spędzić miesiąc na południu Francji. Piękny kraj, ludzie bardzo mili. Faktycznie, kultura pracy znacznie inna. Co do znajomości geografii to chyba kiepsko, przynajmniej moi znajomi nie mieli kompletnie pojęcia co to Polska, co było nieco żenujące dla mnie, gdy musiałam pokazywać im nasz kraj na mapie. I ich zdziwienie 'To jest Polska?? Taka duża?' 😂
Ponieważ tak rzeczywiście kiedyś było.. Ale szczerze myślę że nawet lepiej niż 10lat temu...Jestem we Włoszech dość często znam ich język i mam tam dość sporo znajomych ich wyobrażenie o Polsce na przestrzeni ostatnich lat bardzo ale to bardzo się zmieniło. Wow an American person interviewing French person talking about Poland. Subscribed to this channel few weeks ago, and love its content. I'm Polish, living UK since 2005. UK kinda feel like my home, but I do miss going to Poland (as tourist), though wouldn't think to go back to live there. Once I have tasted different culture I would prefer to move to another country, Switzerland, maybe Spain, Greece, etc. So yeah keep looking for opportunities!
This guy is not describing working in France that I have heard. The French take long lunch breaks, they go on strike, they dont turn up for work. They go on holiday for the whole of August. etc, etc. People whom I know with companies in France try to avoid employing French workers.
I'm woking in transportation so basically I have to work with all EU nationalities every day. If you work with French people you have to get used to their 2 hours lunch break. I belive if there was nuclear attack few minutes past 12 , no one would give a shit till 2 pm cause lunch break is a holy thing.

Poland is showing the world how to properly run a country. I was in Poland in 1992, I have never had a warmer welcome in my life. Great experience. Really enjoying the strong relationship between my USA and Poland. Soon the USA and Poland will have VISA waivers, can't wait!
Kyle Snoddy Yup, Polish as well as Hungarian is hard, although not impossible to learn. My cousin's girlfriend is Irish, she have never learned Polish at any school, but after hearing it for couple of years she understands everything, although she speaks it little (they're living in northern Europe). But we're among 10 best english speaking nations in the world (60% Poles declare they speak English), most of the people under 30 speak it, so initially you will get around.
Okay, it's going to be quite challenging, but it's not astrophysics. It's all about the hard work that you put in to learning the language, and the learning curve is steep, so the more you learn, the easier it will get learning more and building on what you already know. But you're Irish, therefore you could hypothetically just use English in Poland if you live in a big city. If you plan to work there then I'd get an English-speaking job and then learn Polish. If you plan only to live there, then your English will suffice.

During the WW2 I was in Germany as worker for City Street Car Dept. After the air raids we had to repair the tracks and the street surfaces. Some times we had to go to sand pits throw the sand thru sieves and then load it on a truck driven by French driver. The German superviser was in charge of our young group. Between the loads we were taking easy laying on grass and resting. But we had to post a look out man to warn us about the French driver coming back for another load, by the time the truck arrived we were back on our feet and working. Actually it was the German Superviser that has told us to be aware of the French driver, he said that the driver will report us to the main office of not doing enough work, and at wartime in Germany it was considered as a crime
Sorry but I do not agree with information related to work in Poland. Polish workers of course always are even before time to start work but also stay at work even till midnight to finish their daily stuff at offices. So most of Polish are working more than 10 hours pay day at offices. In restaurant or hotels even more than 12hours. Foreigners who are working in Poland they have different work contracts than Polish people. Yes this true Poland is very beautiful country and Warsaw start be more modern city in whole Europe.

Sam tak o swoich rodakach powiedział Simon- nie dosłownie ale w stereotypach. W skali od 1 do 5 w ocenie kraju ,który lubię to Francja na 5 miejscu. I would suggest that the saying “Polska język, trudna język” applies very much to Ryan. IMHO his Polszczyzna just sucks and is reminiscent of second and third generation Polonia from Green Point or Jackowo. I am not even referring to his so called accent, but rather to the poor command of the grammar & limited vocabulary. Especially considering that the man has been in the country for some ten years and is married to a local girl. Thumbs up for his efforts, but he still needs to polish his Polish. If you want to hear a non native speaker who truly mastered out tongue, check Herman from the Kolejwizja portal on TH-cam. Now, that man has a native like fluency. He actually is better at it than many polish people. Having said that, I really find Ryan’s videos to be well made and very informative. It is just his Polish that makes me cringe.

I agree 100% as to the current dynamic vibe in Poland, that anything can happen and the fact that Polish people don't realise that. Well, some do, I hope. Have been living abroad (away from Poland) for a good few years now and now I feel 'the vibe' whenever I fly back home. It makes me so happy.
Mmm, i didn't think much about Poland, till I knew a girl who lives in Warsaw!(everybody and his dog, focus in other European countries like England, France, Germany, Spain, Italy etc.) Then i discovered that some historic figures like Chopin and Copernico were from Poland, and that it is a very beautiful, modern and sophisticated country.

Polska ma być krajem miodem i mlekiem płynącym - miód na serce a mleko do życia, naturalne życie, naturalny rozwój... i spokój. Witam serdecznie, chciałbym opisać pracę Polaków w Polsce. Pracujemy bardzo długo, tygodniowo nawet po 100 godzin. Ja mam taką pracę że muszę wykonać ją na czas, poświęcam nawet 18 h w ciągu doby, odpoczywam 6 godzin i znowu pracuję. Zaliczam soboty i zachaczam niedzielę by wrócić z drugiego końca kraju do firmy, by zdążyć. Polacy pracują bardzo długo. Mam świadomość że jesteśmy bardzo rozwijającym się krajem. Bo to my nocą wracamy do domu, mało śpimy. Mówię o wszystkich, kierowcach, specjalistach w dziedzinie serwisu, budowy, transportu, medycyny, służb uprzywilejowanych. Mało jest miejsc gdzie pracuje się 40godzin tygodniowo. Proszę dodać w komentarzach cegiełki zawodów nad przeciętnych, ja jestem rzeźbiarzem, o dodatkowym zadaniu monterskim prac na terenie całej Polski. 300 godzin miesięcznie w pracy.
Ja robię w transporcie(nie jako kierowca, chociaż mają jeszcze bardziej przesrane jeśli chodzi o godziny pracy) i to praca praktycznie 24/7 gdzie po prostu jak jest luźniej to się odpoczywa ale nie koniecznie jest to wieczór i noc czy weekend. Oprócz tego w między czasie się jeszcze inne rzeczy kombinuje na boku. To, że niektórzy wychodzą praktycznie co do godziny wcale nie musi oznaczać też, że kończą pracę tylko mogą mieć gdzieś drugi etat i muszą wyjść o czasie żeby gdzieś na drugą zmianę zdążyć. Niestety ale w mniejszych miastach gdzie zarobki są niskie i nie ma za bardzo perspektywy rozwojowych prac ciężko jest ciągnąć tylko z jednym etatem.

The second problem is that he will have no idea what he’s talking about until such time as he's learned the Polish language to some degree. And even then he will be getting the "Western visitor" treatment, which is totally misleading. The Poles (among other Eastern Europeans including Russians) are masters at projecting a “nice,” often servile attitude towards Westerners. Whereas it is true that there are certain cultural differences between nationalities, there is no such thing as a “Polish woman” or a “French woman” or any other women. All women are people and - just as men - they come in a multitude of different expressions of personality, nature, disposition, temperament, mentality, psychology etc. The third problem and, by all mean, not the last is that one is ill-equipped to talk about a country’s culture if one can’t utter even a single word of that country’s language as is the sad case here.

Po obejrzeniu tego filmu, warto było by także dowiedzieć się jak we francji mówi się o Polsce i polakach. Tak, żeby wasze zdanie na temat francuzów było z obiektywnych źródeł. Dowiecie się co ten zdradziecki naród myśli o nas na prawdę.
Zacznijmy od tego, że z przeciętnym Francuzem nie ma dyskusji nawet w obrębie tematów opartych na faktach historycznych. Zawsze ktoś się obrazi, ktoś zmieni temat, ktoś powie, że "jesteś rasistą, nie lubisz nas!" :D Mówię tu o ludziach z przedziału wiekowego 20-60lat. Może młodsi i nieco starsi, którzy coś pamiętają - byliby skłonni do rzeczowej dyskusji. Ale ogólnie we Francji - wojna, religia, poglądy na żīcie - UWAGA - to SPRAWA PRYWATNA!!! Masz tryskać humorem, opowiadać zbreźne dowcipy i cieszyć się, że tak cudownie w tych restaurcjach. tak jakby poza gastronomią i światem tu&teraz nic nie istniało. Bardzo przykra postawa.
My experience of the french and the Polish is the complete opposite of this guy. Perhaps it depends what line of work your in, but I've found the Polish to be harder workers.
Maybe french women became so much feminist and rely so much on government, that they forget that they played a role in society once other than being beautiful. When there is no walfare state someone need to take care of the poor, the elderly, the children. Once you establish big government and walfare state to do this job for you, you can become full on feminist and play hard one to get.
I disagree french know very little about Poland and underestimate it. Maybe vey undereducated people and maybe immigrants - they may have a limited knowledge not only on Poland but on all the reality around. But normal french know very well what Poland is and what Poland has been.
So now entire W europe want come to poland and even some from Latin America. Is it entire idea of Poland life style in that there is not Mongrels and Black in Poland. If everyone is welcome to Poland will it be just like France or Germany today.

I think western culture has made French to work hard, because as speaker said overview of France is kinda different. As well when I was there i didn't see some hardwork, all shops were opening very late so there was no pleace to buy something in the morning and in afternoon they also had a break. But I didn't see French world of business, maybe it is totally different. One thing for sure, Americans are working hard, I can say! Polish people are not lazy for sure if have your own business you work here maximum, but when you work for someone else you have timeframes and you do your best in this time, sometimes even employers don't give you a chance to stay longer because they need to pay you overtime which is basically like in USA (1,5 wage per h). As well all companies are moving there headquarters to Poland, on 1 side it's because Poland is cheaper then Germany, France, UK, USA, but more expensive then India or China investors still want to set up a business here though, because the quality seems to be better and Polish resolves problems usually faster and more effective than let's say Indian ( no offence, but me and my firends work together with Indians and nothing is done good and on time from their side).

What a great interview, I found this so interesting! I'm a New Zealander living in Germany and my husband was born in Oświęcim but moved to Germany as a child. He still speaks Polish fluently and feels a strong connection with the culture.
The first time I traveled to Poland with him I instantly fell in love with the culture and Polish people not to mention the cabbage rolls! (Golabki)
True that! Germans tried to erase the Polish culture by renaming all the cities they conquered. They even renamed countless streets. So just to clarify: there are no Polish cities that have a German sounding name.

Also, the weather is more diverse, and the airports are linked to a LOT of countries worldwide (CDG is HUGE), we also have colonies... (not that it's one thing to be proud of, but it makes a country stronger) which leads to the language itself being spoken in a lot of countries and makes it a more accessible and known culture.
I'm French, but I don't live in France. I like it, but it's not the best country when it comes to IT, or banks. Since I work in Finetech (so both IT and banks) I make better money elsewhere on that matter. If it wasn't for that, I'd go back.
Poland seems great tho. Great growth, I'm sure it's an interesting place to invest in, with a very rich culture, interesting people (I've met few poles where I live), and a crazy hard language to learn, but I find it sounds very nice. Worth to learn I think!

Według ostatnich dostępnych danych OECD w 2013 r. przeciętny Polak przepracował 1918 godz. a Francuz (1489 godz.) Panie Francuz nie umywacie się do nas jeśli chodzi o przepracowane godziny."

My ex-girlfriend was French by the way, I've met her while studying abroad. She was from a well established middle class Catholic family, still quite conservative which I appreciate is quite unusual in contemporary France.
Wow an American person interviewing French person talking about Poland. Subscribed to this channel few weeks ago, and love its content. I'm Polish, living UK since 2005. UK kinda feel like my home, but I do miss going to Poland (as tourist), though wouldn't think to go back to live there. Once I have tasted different culture I would prefer to move to another country, Switzerland, maybe Spain, Greece, etc. So yeah keep looking for opportunities!
This guy is not describing working in France that I have heard. The French take long lunch breaks, they go on strike, they dont turn up for work. They go on holiday for the whole of August. etc, etc. People whom I know with companies in France try to avoid employing French workers.
He forgot that they work only 35 hours a week, have one personal day a month off and 6 or 8 weeks of vacations.
I'm woking in transportation so basically I have to work with all EU nationalities every day. If you work with French people you have to get used to their 2 hours lunch break. I belive if there was nuclear attack few minutes past 12 , no one would give a shit till 2 pm cause lunch break is a holy thing.

Kyle Snoddy Yup, Polish as well as Hungarian is hard, although not impossible to learn. My cousin's girlfriend is Irish, she have never learned Polish at any school, but after hearing it for couple of years she understands everything, although she speaks it little (they're living in northern Europe). But we're among 10 best english speaking nations in the world (60% Poles declare they speak English), most of the people under 30 speak it, so initially you will get around.
Okay, it's going to be quite challenging, but it's not astrophysics. It's all about the hard work that you put in to learning the language, and the learning curve is steep, so the more you learn, the easier it will get learning more and building on what you already know. But you're Irish, therefore you could hypothetically just use English in Poland if you live in a big city. If you plan to work there then I'd get an English-speaking job and then learn Polish. If you plan only to live there, then your English will suffice.

During the WW2 I was in Germany as worker for City Street Car Dept. After the air raids we had to repair the tracks and the street surfaces. Some times we had to go to sand pits throw the sand thru sieves and then load it on a truck driven by French driver. The German superviser was in charge of our young group. Between the
loads we were taking easy laying on grass and resting. But we had to post a look out man to warn us about the French driver coming back for another load, by the
time the truck arrived we were back on our feet and working. Actually it was the German Superviser that has told us to be aware of the French driver, he said that the driver will report us to the main office of not doing enough work, and at wartime in Germany it was considered as a crime
Sorry but I do not agree with information related to work in Poland.
Polish workers of course always are even before time to start work but also stay at work even till midnight to finish their daily stuff at offices. So most of Polish are working more than 10 hours pay day at offices. In restaurant or hotels even more than 12hours.
Foreigners who are working in Poland they have different work contracts than Polish people.

I would suggest that the saying “Polska język, trudna język” applies very much to Ryan. IMHO his Polszczyzna just sucks and is reminiscent of second and third generation Polonia from Green Point or Jackowo. I am not even referring to his so called accent, but rather to the poor command of the grammar & limited vocabulary. Especially considering that the man has been in the country for some ten years and is married to a local girl. Thumbs up for his efforts, but he still needs to polish his Polish. If you want to hear a non native speaker who truly mastered out tongue, check Herman from the Kolejwizja portal on TH-cam. Now, that man has a native like fluency. He actually is better at it than many polish people. Having said that, I really find Ryan’s videos to be well made and very informative. It is just his Polish that makes me cringe.

Mmm, i didn't think much about Poland, till I knew a girl who lives in Warsaw!(everybody and his dog, focus in other European countries like England, France, Germany, Spain, Italy etc.) Then i discovered that some historic figures like Chopin and Copernico were from Poland, and that it is a very beautiful, modern and sophisticated country.

Polska ma być krajem miodem i mlekiem płynącym - miód na serce a mleko do życia, naturalne życie, naturalny rozwój... i spokój. Witam serdecznie, chciałbym opisać pracę Polaków w Polsce. Pracujemy bardzo długo, tygodniowo nawet po 100 godzin. Ja mam taką pracę że muszę wykonać ją na czas, poświęcam nawet 18 h w ciągu doby, odpoczywam 6 godzin i znowu pracuję. Zaliczam soboty i zachaczam niedzielę by wrócić z drugiego końca kraju do firmy, by zdążyć. Polacy pracują bardzo długo. Mam świadomość że jesteśmy bardzo rozwijającym się krajem. Bo to my nocą wracamy do domu, mało śpimy. Mówię o wszystkich, kierowcach, specjalistach w dziedzinie serwisu, budowy, transportu, medycyny, służb uprzywilejowanych. Mało jest miejsc gdzie pracuje się 40godzin tygodniowo. Proszę dodać w komentarzach cegiełki zawodów nad przeciętnych, ja jestem rzeźbiarzem, o dodatkowym zadaniu monterskim prac na terenie całej Polski. 300 godzin miesięcznie w pracy.
Ja robię w transporcie(nie jako kierowca, chociaż mają jeszcze bardziej przesrane jeśli chodzi o godziny pracy) i to praca praktycznie 24/7 gdzie po prostu jak jest luźniej to się odpoczywa ale nie koniecznie jest to wieczór i noc czy weekend. Oprócz tego w między czasie się jeszcze inne rzeczy kombinuje na boku. To, że niektórzy wychodzą praktycznie co do godziny wcale nie musi oznaczać też, że kończą pracę tylko mogą mieć gdzieś drugi etat i muszą wyjść o czasie żeby gdzieś na drugą zmianę zdążyć. Niestety ale w mniejszych miastach gdzie zarobki są niskie i nie ma za bardzo perspektywy rozwojowych prac ciężko jest ciągnąć tylko z jednym etatem.

And even then he will be getting the "Western visitor" treatment, which is totally misleading. The Poles (among other Eastern Europeans including Russians) are masters at projecting a “nice,” often servile attitude towards Westerners. Whereas it is true that there are certain cultural differences between nationalities, there is no such thing as a “Polish woman” or a “French woman” or any other women. All women are people and - just as men - they come in a multitude of different expressions of personality, nature, disposition, temperament, mentality, psychology etc.
The third problem and, by all mean, not the last is that one is ill-equipped to talk about a country’s culture if one can’t utter even a single word of that country’s language as is the sad case here.

Po obejrzeniu tego filmu, warto było by także dowiedzieć się jak we francji mówi się o Polsce i polakach. Tak, żeby wasze zdanie na temat francuzów było z obiektywnych źródeł. Dowiecie się co ten zdradziecki naród myśli o nas na prawdę.
Zacznijmy od tego, że z przeciętnym Francuzem nie ma dyskusji nawet w obrębie tematów opartych na faktach historycznych. Zawsze ktoś się obrazi, ktoś zmieni temat, ktoś powie, że "jesteś rasistą, nie lubisz nas!" :D Mówię tu o ludziach z przedziału wiekowego 20-60lat. Może młodsi i nieco starsi, którzy coś pamiętają - byliby skłonni do rzeczowej dyskusji. Ale ogólnie we Francji - wojna, religia, poglądy na żīcie - UWAGA - to SPRAWA PRYWATNA!!! Masz tryskać humorem, opowiadać zbreźne dowcipy i cieszyć się, że tak cudownie w tych restaurcjach. tak jakby poza gastronomią i światem tu&teraz nic nie istniało. Bardzo przykra postawa.

My experience of the french and the Polish is the complete opposite of this guy. Perhaps it depends what line of work your in, but I've found the Polish to be harder workers.
Maybe french women became so much feminist and rely so much on government, that they forget that they played a role in society once other than being beautiful. When there is no walfare state someone need to take care of the poor, the elderly, the children. Once you establish big government and walfare state to do this job for you, you can become full on feminist and play hard one to get.

I disagree french know very little about Poland and underestimate it. Maybe vey undereducated people and maybe immigrants - they may have a limited knowledge not only on Poland but on all the reality around. But normal french know very well what Poland is and what Poland has been.

I think western culture has made French to work hard, because as speaker said overview of France is kinda different. As well when I was there i didn't see some hardwork, all shops were opening very late so there was no pleace to buy something in the morning and in afternoon they also had a break. But I didn't see French world of business, maybe it is totally different. One thing for sure, Americans are working hard, I can say! Polish people are not lazy for sure if have your own business you work here maximum, but when you work for someone else you have timeframes and you do your best in this time, sometimes even employers don't give you a chance to stay longer because they need to pay you overtime which is basically like in USA (1,5 wage per h). As well all companies are moving there headquarters to Poland, on 1 side it's because Poland is cheaper then Germany, France, UK, USA, but more expensive then India or China investors still want to set up a business here though, because the quality seems to be better and Polish resolves problems usually faster and more effective than let's say Indian ( no offence, but me and my firends work together with Indians and nothing is done good and on time from their side).
