  • Elizabeth Smart Special Fireside held on May 11, 2016, at the Cannon Activities Center, Brigham Young University-Hawaii.
The abduction of Elizabeth Smart was one of the most followed child abduction cases of our time. Elizabeth was abducted on June 5, 2002, and her captors controlled her by threatening to kill her and her family if she tried to escape. Fortunately, the police safely returned Elizabeth back to her family on March 12, 2003 after being held prisoner for 9 grueling months.
In this special fireside, she shares her story of triumph over tribulation and shares her testimony of faith in our Heavenly Father's plan and our Savior's love for her and anyone else who may be going through trials. Her inspiring story is uplifting and eyeopening.

I know she went through what she did, as evil as it was, so she could inspire women and testify and minister to them, abused or not....this is why she came to earth....we all have a mission and we agreed to fulfill it in our pre-mortal state, this I can testify! God bless you richly you beautiful women of God,,, from another woman of God!

God bless the beautiful singers & Elizabeth Smart. That you Lord Jesus. My heart breaks for every child, adult or elderly man or woman who are mistreated and taken advantage of.

I can see how God prepared her as a child for her ordeal and her mission here on earth. Our hardest challenges can become our greatest mission. She is living her mission and she is a blessing to others. God is truly over all and blesses us as we come unto him through prayer. She is a great example to all of faith and perseverance.

Sometimes the negative contrast in life really helps us cling to and recognize the light.

It must be awful for her to have to constantly hear that introduction and have to relive these events, just for the benefit of others.

All of us go through something to make us a stronger person and yes my own story and what I went through in my past was 10 times worse than what Lizabeth has gone through but this is my point that I want to make for all of you that are reading this. Stop getting caught up on negative things in your life and admire the positive things that happen. While I watched my mother and 2 sisters get murdered by my Step Father did I use a negative to draw myself because of the blood and the smell and the negative behavior that my Step Father brought upon my little 8 year old body did I draw upon that because it happend? You have got to stop drawing yourself to negative things and only get caught up on something that is positive. HF only wants us to draw upon the positive and not the negative. That is the kingdom of Celestral behavior. You think Rape is bad? Let your step dad tie you up and torture you with things telling you that he's going to kill you and threaten that he's going to kill your family if you scream or try to move. It's a positive you just make it into a negative by thinking it is what it is. Get caught up on all things in your life positively. Nothing else will matter.

No good comes from comparing trials, they are all different. Its not even like "comparing apples to oranges", as the saying goes. Its comparing potato to cantelope to grapes to pears..... etc. I am so sorry for what you have been through, and also so sorry for her experience.
